Love the welcome!

Let me introduce myself.. I am an almost 50 y/o registered nurse. I am the mother of 3 and grandma of 5. I am a yo-yo dieter... i loose then I gain. I have belonged or should I say.. I have lurked at the fringe of sparkpeople for about 3 years. But as I age I notice that it takes longer for me to heal, and i don't recover from many days of work as fast as I used to. So it is time to take my health back.
Here is to 4 pounds a month, healthy eating and an active life-style. emoticon

Hi Dale,

It sure is discouraging when you work to get weight off and it pops back on, especially when it comes back on a whole lot quicker than it came off!! I'm glad you were able to get back down to 165. Dancing in the heat probably burned some serious calories and helped!!!

You all impress me.
I've fought for 3 weeks just to keep what I did take off, OFF.

That's the way it goes... up until now. (Who knows what tomorrow may bring.)

Namaste,
Dale
got back to 165 monday morning

danced, including a lesson, in heat at a huge ballroom the night before.............

Welcome to the challenge, bybye130s!! I, too, find that if I set realistic goals, I can meet them.

Pick a few small daily goals that will help you toward your bigger goal and post how you do on them daily and, before you know it, you will be where you want to be!!

Hey, I'd like to join. It usually takes a while for weight to come off. So 1 pound a week is realistic and being in this group may help me stay realistic and know that slow weight loss is best. Since I'm now joining, for August I'll like to lose 2 lbs for the 2 weeks remaining.

I am tracking as much food as possible and exercising with the sparks point system. I am not interested in double reporting the info here but I do like that you are all relating to one another your motivation to keep on the right track.

I have not been losing 4 lbs a month. I am mindful but not strict enough. I think my attitude is in the way, that this is hard to sustain. If I believed it is easy I would be doing much better.

Kudos to you all !

Hi ladies,

I had a nice meal at the Outback tonight. I ordered the 6 oz sirloin, 2 sides of veggies and a garden salad with blue cheese crumbles on it. I brought my own calorie free salad dressing. It was delicious and I was able to stay in my calorie range!!

I got weighed and measured at Curves today. In the last month, I have lost a total of 6.25 inches, 6.55 pounds of fat, gained 1.8 pounds of muscle for a total weight loss of 4.75 pounds.

So far this month, I have lost 2 1/2 pounds. I am on track to reach my 4 pounds for the month of August. I am pretty excited!! Woo hoooo!!

Here are my stats for today:

Daily calories: 1297
Exercise: Curves and walking
Water - 64 oz daily: yes
Daily Vitamin: Yes
Minimum of 7 Hours Sleep: Yes - I am struggling with insomnia. These 7 hours sometimes include a nap.

I wish you all great success in your efforts to become fit and healthy.

Hi Lynnijn!!

Welcome to our challenge. Congratulations on your 9 pounds so far!!

I checked out your sparkpage. I also have arthritis, but I have rheumatoid instead of osteo. I have a free online 20 minute range of motion video made by the Arthritis Foundation that I do when my arthritis is flaring and I can't do anything else. Here is a link to it:

http://www.eventstreams.com/arthritisnat
ional/018bexr/defaultfrm.htm

I ended up ordering the DVD so I could do the other exercises and love it!!

If you'd like to join us in daily accountability, come up with a few goals and post them. It really does work!

It feels good to meet those goals, doesn't it!!!

I know if I keep focusing on these little goals, I will get to my big goal!!

I am tracking my fat, protein and carbs also. I struggle to get all of my carbs in. I usually run about 10 grams short. I just added some old fashioned oats in at breakfast and that is getting me closer to my goal.

Have a great sparky day!!

Here is my yesterday:

Calories: 1,573 (met goal)
Fat: 42 (met goal)
Carbohydrates: 215 (met goal)
Protein: 91 (met goal)
Fruits and Veggies: 8 servings (met goal)
Exercise: Strength and Elliptical (met goal)
Water: 64 oz (met goal)

Yeah me! Yeah us!

My daily goals are a little different...likely because I weigh more to start out with...and have agressive cardio goals as well. I am also trying to stay within carb, fat, and protein ranges as that is new to me and when I plugged in one of my past typical Weight Watchers days I was way under in fat and carbs.

Daily calories: 1480-1830
Daily carbs: 195-281
Daily fat: 38-67
Daily protein: 60-151
Fruits and Veggies: at least 5 servings
Exercise: trying for daily...even if lighter some days that others
Water: 64 oz daily

Here is how I did today:

Daily calories: 1524
Exercise: Curves and walking
Water - 64 oz daily: yes
Daily Vitamin: Yes
Minimum of 7 Hours Sleep: Unfortunately, I missed the boat on this one!! Hopefully tonight I'll get a full night of sleep.

I went out to eat tonight and was afraid that I was going to go over my calorie range, but I came in just under. Whew!!

I hope you both had a great day.

I have been searching through the challenges and can't seem to find one that I like, so I thought I'd start my own.

I've been averaging 4 pounds a month weight loss and would like to continue. I've done this by aiming to meet certain goals each day.

Daily calories: 1200 to 1550
Exercise: minimum of 5 days per week
Water: 64 oz daily
Vitamin: daily vitamin
Sleep: minimum of 7 hours

My plan is to check in each night to report how I did with my daily goals. I'd love it if others joined me in this reporting.
