good morning! I am interested in starting this challenge.

1. water: drink more water. I have been so bad with drinking water; most days only get 2-3 cups. so I will work on drinking 6-9 cups of water daily.

2, walking. now that summer is here, there is no reason for me not to get some mles walked. so I will work on walking every day. at least 30 minutes

3. finally, journaling what I eat. I find if I journal my food; I do better.

Actually day 1 was yesterday

6/1/12
1. drank 8 cups water
2. walked 77 minutes total (4.5 miles)
3. Journaled food

6/2/12
1. drank 8.5 cups water
2. walked 106 minutes (6.5 miles) this is not my normal just over excited lately
3. journaled my food.

emoticon

1. Water, Water, Water
2. Reduce/Eliminate sugar, processed foods, flour
3. Strength train 3x per week (this will be the hard one for me)

My name is Cyan. I'm training for the Mud Run (its a 10k) on Jun 9th so I really have to get my butt in gear training. I also won a surfboard and want to pick it up but want to be closer to my goal weight which is around 120. I'm not on a diet I am just doing healthy things and making healthy choices ...so anyway *I'll hope its not a problem adding myself*

I'm starting late (I'm new!), but I'm in!
Make it:
64 oz water per day--shouldn't be too hard. I love to carry a water bottle. But when I'm dehydrated, I can feel it in everything. It makes everything harder.
Some kind of activity (out of my way) every day! Even if it's just 10 minutes of stretching before bed.
Break it:
Sleep enough, but not late into the morning! I feel like I waste too much of the day when I let myself sleep in.
My 21 days start today.

Yay, it's alive!! So awesome!

Well done on avoiding sugar, you're much more dedicated than I am...

I am doing okay. Have had a couple of sugars daily but have cut back on tea/coffee by 2/3 cups, so that's near 4-6 spoons sugar a DAY, sure adds up doesnt it? yay. eating only veg and protein at night, no carbs after 12 noon so i feel good.

Exercise missed on wednesday. :(

Said no to chocolate last night, no to cheese cake this afternoon and another no to chocolate today. YAY!! best i've done ever!

HEY EVERYONE!! So.... yesterday was Day One, how did everyone do with their goals?

I managed to count/log my calories, drink my water, take my meds, stay away from the evil sugars and fried foods. Overall I am really happy and proud of myself for making it through Day One.

Last night I got some VERY strong urges to eat sugar. It is crazy how accustomed your body becomes to sugar after eating it for so long, whether it is the artifical kinds found in the diet pepsi I was drinking or the evil evil kinds found in the candy, cakes, etc.

I feel good today and hopefully it will only get easier from here.

How are you all doing!?

DeeDee - Great Idea with the water btw!! :) I have a HUGE water bottle too which really helps me get my water in so I dont have the excuse that I didnt fill it up.

We all must Stay Strong because WE CAN DO THIS!!!!

Brooke

LOVE the motivational quote idea, please post them as you find them....
So we've all got our do's and dont's. I wanted to share my 'water drinking' trick, that worked before and I drank loads of water, especially sitting at work, which is really hard to do.

SO... what I do, I have a water bottle that carries 500ml of water. So just three of those is already 1.5 litres. I draw three little squares on a post-it and as I finish one, I tick one of the squares. For some reason, watching each bottle be ticked off really helps keep me motivated, because by the time I leave work, I want three little ticked boxes! ..yay. might sound silly but it works because you've written it down and can actually see the effort :)

Hey great idea!

3 things:

1 take out:
Sugar. I absolutely LOVE sugar, I have it on tea, on cereal, in coffee. It's my main addiction. I quit smoking, but could never quit sugar.

2 adds:
Water. I dont drink as much water as I should, usually drinking coffee with sugar.

Exercise. 30 min a day min. I know that this one is pretty standard, but since getting a full time office job, I am getting office-ass and it's getting serious.

Hi Everyone!

I am going to try and keep this short and sweet. I have decided to start my own 21 Day Challenge. This Challenge is all about breaking old habits that may not be so healthy and making new healthier habits that you can carry on for life. You may be wondering why it is for 21 days? Studies have shown that 21 days is the amount of time it takes to fully rid your body of an addiction, train it to do/eat something different, etc.

It goes like this... Each person chooses at least 3 things that they either want to take away from or add to their lives. Things like cutting out processed sugars and simple carbs. Or adding a 30 minute walk every day. Or drinking 8 glasses of water daily, and so on. The point is that if you do something long enough every day it'll eventually become natural for you and it will take less thinking and encouragement after those first 21 days. Also not to mention that when people have a challenge put in front of them it pushes them harder to succeed.

Now I must say that me doing this challenge is not reloant on others, just to be honest, but I thought that I would share this with you all if you are interested. I am new here, but I do know that support is very important! This worked for me back in 2010 and I challenged myself to 21 days without sugar, simple carbs, artificial sweeteners, very little processed foods and it really kicked off my weight loss, which was my personal goal but know that changes from person to person, and in the 21 days I lost 13-14 lbs and felt GREAT! At that point I rarely craved sugar anymore too!

Anyway, if you are interested then that is great! Please comment on here what your goals are and what you wish to accomplish in these 21 Days. Let's support one another and kick those bad habits and make healthier choices together! Thankd for reading and joining me for this challenege, I really look forward to sharing this with you all and making some new friends along the way. Challenge starts Monday, March 19th for 21 days! :)
