What's wrong with a big fat juicy steak? I'm following Richard Bernstein MD's "The Diabetes Diet" and it is very low carb, so I can have steak any day of the week. Dr. Bernstein has been a Type 1 diabetic since he was 12 and he is 78 now. He went to medical school at 41 so he could teach others how to live the low carb diet lifestyle for diabetes like he found worked for him. Then in his practice since 1981 he has seen mostly Type 2 diabetics. He has lectures on YouTube.
You can most definitely have steak (unless you are vegan or vegetarian). I find the worst is the cravings for sweets..I know that once I get passed that point it will be easier going..it's pushing myself to get to that point. I have a tendency to give in to them. But I am still trying. Good luck to you as you continue on your way to being healthier.

keep at it!!! I have been dieting and exercising since Jan 1st and I have lost 15 pounds so far! it feels great to have the weight gone. It feels great putting on clothes I feel like I just bought, and they are TOO BIG on me! It's a hard process, and I never thought I would get this far, but I did! I also doubt my progress almost every day. We need to focus on ow far we have made it, not where we are now.

Just some advice. Unless you have become a vegetarian or vegan, you can have steak while you are in the weight loss phase. I believe the serving is 3 ounces. I know it is not much but on this journey to a healthier lifestyle you should practice portion control. Half your plate should be veggies (or fruit) anyhow. Everyone has cravings but if they keep coming back you should consider the proper portion/serving of that juicy steak!

So I have been dieting/exercising for about two months now and it's taking long than the last time I dieted but I think I am on the right track. I have my days where all I want is a big fat juicy steak...but I'm pressing to get passed these cravings....i find it harder to NOT think about it during the weekend because I am not as busy but so far so good...11lbs lost so far total, can't wait to reach 20!
