Hello everyone and thank you for the warm welcome. Yesterday was a pretty good day for me. I drank enough water, exercised and met my nutrition goals for the day (except went over my fat by 3, I had buttered popcorn!) but I still was able to see the scale go down each day. I know they say to only check in once a week or so, but I need the daily motivation to get me going.

So far today has been great. It was really awesome to actually end up really full with a healthy lunch. Usually I am starving after eating pizza or a sandwich, but I had some leftovers from dinner along with two extra helpings of veggies and it actually stuffed me!

Nighttime is my weakness but so far it has been manageable. Here's to another great night.

Good luck everyone!

Sheila - Glad you're joining us again!

Just an FYI, Erika said she wouldn't have a chance to start the challenge thread until tomorrow or Friday, so we're just supposed to make note of today's starting weight until then.

Happy Hump Day everyone!

It's rainy here today, so it's a perfect day to get some cleaning done...except that I have no energy or motivation to do it!LOL I'll force myself at some point today. I'm a slow starter in the mornings to begin with, and then add getting up around 1 am with my 7-month-old for the past 5 nights and I've been pretty much useless lately! I haven't been able to fall back asleep quickly afterwards, so I've been up for a couple hours in the middle of the night. And then she decides to wake for the day around 5:30am! Ugh! I'm hoping she gets back to sleeping through the night soon!

Sheila (and anyone else) - If you're interested, there's also going to be a Lose 5 lbs. in September team. I volunteered to be a co-leader because Erika needed help, so we'll see how that goes...

Have a fabulous day!!!

Have a great day friends

Good morning all!

I weighed in this morning to wrap up my Lose 5 lbs. in August Challenge...and I ended up losing 7.4 lbs. for the month! Woo hoo!!

If I'm able to take off just 4 lbs. in September, I'll officially be out of the "Obese" category on the BMI scale. I haven't been that low since early spring of 2008, after my first daughter was born. Back then I was in the low 180s, and my weight just climbed from there. It's giving me a little extra motivation to start incorporating more regular exercise into my routine.

Danielle - emoticon Sounds like you had a great start to the day. Keep it up!

Sheila & Lisa - Sorry to hear about your plateaus. I'm dreading hitting those myself. I don't really have experience with them, so take my advice with a grain of salt, but just keep doing what you're doing. If you're eating less than you're burning off, the weight loss HAS TO show up eventually. In the meantime, just stay focused on the non-scale victories along the way to keep your motivation up.

Have a good Tuesday everyone! :)

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Yesterday was great. I ate within my range (actually had to eat a piece of cheese as a snack so I would hit my cal/fat range for the day) and I exercised for 45 minutes. I love seeing the scale going down, down, down every day!

This morning is turning out good as well. I did strength training and then did cardio for another 45 minutes. I had a healthy breakfast and now am going to enjoy the rest of my day off!

Good luck everybody!

Danielle

Sheila, would you mind if I join this challenge now? I read your post and MY birthday is also Nov. 21st. I can't think of a better birthday present I could give myself than to lose some of this weight.

I usually weigh-in on Mondays so as of this morning I am: 226.8. I'd love to see 210 by then (16.8 lbs in 12 weeks) but I'd be happy to see 215.

I hope everyone has had a great Monday so far. I just have to get through dinner and a visit to my grandparents house and I will have sailed through another day!

Can't wait to get to know everyone!

Danielle

Happy Monday! Went a little crazy this weekend with hubby and kids gone for 5 days. Started out eating good then got into the ice cream, french fries and drinks with girlfriends. Oh my! Sitting here with cramps and a stomachache from eating junk so I'm motivated to get back on track today.

Good morning, all!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine was busy...yardwork, grocery shopping, visiting parents. Overall it was good, but my girls and I all came down with colds too. Blech. I don't feel too bad, mostly just tired from being awakened by congested, feverish kids for the past 2 nights! Luckily we already seem to have entered just the runny, stuffy nose phase. Their fevers are gone, so I'll just be wiping noses all week!LOL

Oh, I also stayed on track eating-wise too! Weekends are always tough for me, so this is a huge victory. (We went out to lunch yesterday, and I stuck with a half-sized portion of a grilled chicken salad.) I'm going to be weighing in again tomorrow to get my final number for the Lose 5lbs. in August team. Then I'm going to stick with weekly weigh-ins on Fridays.

How were your weekends, ladies? Let's have a great week!!

I weighed in this am...I'm down 2.8 pounds since the weekend!!! I haven't had a loss since the beginning of the month, so I guess the scale finally caught up to my efforts. Woo hoo!

Sheila - Glad you got your computer troubles worked out.

Lisa - Hi, other Lisa! :) Good to "see" you here!

Ann - How did things go with your friends last night?

I'm still getting familiar with everyone here, so I wasn't able to remember everyone's names off the top of my head...Hi all!

Everyone have a fabulous Friday!!

I finally get to see my buddies at my weight loss group this evening. I'm excited but scared too because I've gained so much weight over the summer. But, they're my friends and I know they'll understand. I hope to be able to go back there on a regular basis soon!

May I join you?

Sheila, I am targeted to reach my goal weight on 11/20 so when I saw your post I thought this was perfect. I wanted to be at my goal weight last April (on MY 40th birthday) but procrastinated big time. Good luck on reaching your goal for your birthday.

Lisa, Hey Sparkfriend. When I saw your posts I thought this would be a great group to join.

I weigh in on Friday and hopefully the scale will finally go down, have been at a plateau all month.

JCM - I'm really tempted to try a Zumba class, but my stamina is gone after 3 years of being sedentary due to pregnancy/taking care of babies (a few months of which were spent on bedrest, so I TOTALLY atrophied). I don't know if I could keep up very well just yet.

Last night, I did 30 min on the treadmill for the 2nd day in a row. Woo hoo! I even did intervals...I had flashbacks to when I was in my 20s and would do 1 hour+ on the treadmill. It felt SO good. I'm planning on working out again tonight!

Everyone have a GREAT Wednesday!

Hello All! I hope everyone is having a good day.
I started zumba classes yest and was so sore this am that I only got in 30 min cardio and 15 strength. I have been trying to get 45 to 1hr of cardio 5 days a week. But the class was really fun.
Got my food planned for next 2 days. Have increased my cals because the scale isn't moving. I only have been eating about 1100 cals a day!

Everyone have a great day and stay healthy!

I'm a bit late, but I would love to join this challenge!

My name is Lisa and I'm 36 years old. After having 2 kids in the past 2.5 years, I'm ready to drop all this extra weight FOR GOOD!

I also weigh in on Sundays. As of today, I weigh 194.2. I'd like to be under 180 by Thanksgiving, so that's about 15 pounds I'd like to lose in the next 13 weeks.

I don't know what happened with your 1 pound gain - it could be the normal things happening with our bodies such as water retention, gaining muscle, etc. Just keep doing what you're doing and it will happen. I completely understand your frustration. I know that I need to increase my cardio intensity. I'm hoping that will help me, and maybe you too! emoticon

its just a challenge to lose what you want to lose or accomplish your goals that you want to before THanksgiving with all of our support on what you are doing....

so that said i guess i am needing support ha my first weigh in since starting the challenge and i gained a pound...i dont understand i have tracked my food started exercising again and drank my water...this is why i needed a challenge to keep me on track because i get very frustrated when this happens and tend to quit....my original goal was to be at 140 for my birthday and i gave up in July so didnt move forward just maintained thru the summer...so here i go i hope you are all ready to hold me accontable and keep me motivated

ann-

the first thing is never deprive yourself just eat in moderation. if you think you CANT have it you will eat double or not track it to hide it. try to fill your plate half full of veggies and healthy choices and only take small portions of the things you "have" to have make sure you drink your water it will fill you up quicker..dont beat yourself up you can do this!!!!!!

Hello my name is Emily I am 31 and my weight is 137 I want to loose 17 pounds for thanksgiving. So far I am doing good. I excersice at least 6 times a week and follow my meal plan and nutrition tracker. However I am having a great trouble on Sundays when I go with my family out aqnd they eat dessert and a lot of breaded products. I ate with them and endulge myself and the next day I feel guilty and try to do better on the week but Sundays I mess up.

Maybe we can work together to reach our goals and teach ourselve better eating habits

I am turning 40 on November 21st...just s little before Thanksgiving and i really want to weigh 160 by then. I originally wanted to be 140 but i have really struggled to stay on track. I dont want to set my goals to unrealistic so this is what i have decided on ... if anyone would like to join me for some motivation and support i would welcome that

8/15 starting weight 173.6
11/21 goal weight 160

that is only 13.6 pounds in 14 weeks I really feel i can do this.
my weigh in days are Sundays but if yours are different thats fine too....
