I've literally never even thought about the visceral fat. This will be good to know if I ever get the feeling I'm losing wait but don't feel like there's anything to show. I won't feel so down about it.

I recently read an article that stated...
To bring down the weight = food management To bring down the inches = exercise and strength training
idk about you, but I don't measure every single place on my body that I possibly could. My calves, for example. I've always thought my hips & thighs & butt were a bigger problem than my calves, so I've never measured those. I could lose an inch off my calves and I'd never know it. Plus too... I try really hard to get the measuring tape in the same place every time. But honestly-- unless I took a Sharpie and drew a line around my body, I'm not convinced that tape is in the exact. same. place. I don't measure my upper arms because I cannot manage to get the tape straight using just one hand. I could lose an inch there too and never know it.
And as op's have mentioned, for a variety of reasons it can take a little while for results to show. The important thing is not to get discouraged.

I can understand your frustration. For me, it was clothing sizes rather than measurements. I've lost 80 pounds but only 3 sizes yet I was reading about people who were losing 3 sizes after only 25 pounds.
Are you exercising? You can't spot reduce but you can tighten muscles with strength training that will make you look a little smaller in those areas because, even if there is still fat on those spots, the muscles underneath the fat will be tighter thus shrinking the overall size of the area.

I wouldn't worry about it yet. Ten pounds is barely enough to notice a difference in how your clothes fit (especially the first ten), so we're talking at most a difference of a half-inch here and a half-inch there -- and as others have said, perhaps even none yet in the places you're actually measuring), easily within the range where measurement error could mask a true change. If you changed your diet drastically, some of that initial ten could even be water weight, which wouldn't affect the tape.
Do what you need to do, and change will come. It can't not.
And just an anecdote as to how everyone loses weight differently: pretty much the first place to slim down on me was my hips (so my pants actually did feel very different after ten pounds, but this is not the case for everyone). However, the last 20 pounds? Barely a change at all! I'm still wearing the clothes I bought at 165 pounds, at 145 pounds, and they're mostly on the loose side, but still wearable. That certainly wasn't the case for any other 20 pound interval along the way. So yeah. Don't worry, keep it up, it'll work out.
I slowly am starting to work strength training into my days. while I do mostly walking, I started a video that uses body weight, and I just got weighted gloves and a weighted hula hoop ( although I can't keep the hula hoop going, I still was able to do most of the workout video it came with.)

What you're experiencing really is perfectly normal. Many people can lose weight without losing inches. How ? You may be looking in the wrong places. You may want to lose weight off your hips, but you may have lost weight off your face or boobs. It's not unusual for women to notice a loss from their chests before their hips. So, if your shirts are fitting better, but your pants aren't, it means you're losing from the top down. That's not unusual for a lot of women.
Also, there are two kinds of fat, subcutaneous fat and visceral fat.
Subcutaneous fat is the fat we can see i.e. like cellulite. It's the fat that seems lumpy and bumpy.
Vicersal fat is the fat you can't see. Doctors will tell you that visceral fat is the unhealthy fat that surrounds our internal organs. That's the fat that can cause a heart attack. Well, we're supposed to have some visceral fat to protect our organs. However, most Americans tend to carry too much.
You may have lost some visceral fat that surrounds your internal organs. That would explain why you lost weight, but not inches. If you want to lose inches, you have to do two things. You have to lose weight off your entire body and you have to strength train. Strength training will increase lean muscle which in turn will cause your body to get tighter and denser.
So, if you want to lose inches, continue to eat right, watch your portions and get some regular exercise that includes some strength training.
I think everyone loses differently. What is working for you, might not work for someone else. Don't get discouraged by the inches staying the same. Obviously you are doing something to lose the weight. Are you feeling any better than you were before? Just keep going and the inches will come off!
Don't get frustrated, I have had that happen to me where I have lost weight but my measurements stayed the same. Focus on how good you feel and how much better your health will be for just losing those 10 lbs. Stay strong

Don't go feeling frustrated. It isn't affecting your over-all outcome - you are losing weight :-)
When I started seeing my Dietitian she measured my waist. After I had lost 50lb, she measured it again. I had lost less than an inch, BUT I had gone from a NZ size 20-22 to a 14-16 bottom and 14 top. I had wondered the same thing as you!! Obviously my insides no the difference - LOL! My bra has gone from a 40C to a 34C - my face is a lot narrower - not bloated and fat. My shoulders are narrower. My wrists are tons narrower (they weren't fat in the first place, but WERE big-boned.) Even my feet are a little smaller.
One way you can help give the appearance of a smaller middle is to do Mat Pilates. That concentrates on the core strength - the deep abdominal and lower back muscles. You improve your breathing technique and also your posture. This can make a HUGE difference and even drop a clothes size, even if you don't drop weight!

Are you strength training? Lost muscle mass would result in lost pounds but not inches.
