Hello Ladies! How is everyone? I hope you all had a great weekend.

I had an incredibly busy weekend and I am so exhausted this morning. My eyelids are being propped up with toothpicks at this very moment!! I don't know how I'm going to make it through the day. Time to load up on the caffeine.

For those of you interested, my N.Y. buddy was here this weekend. It was great. We hiked up on Rainier and then hit the city for the best Italian food ever! Though it doesn't look like I will be moving to NY and becoming a baby factory any time soon, we still had a blast together. It was one of those things that if we didn't live on opposite ends of the country, it could be something good.

So, Friday I worked at 6am and met up with NY at 12noon. I didn't get home that night until about 2am just in time to take a power nap before I started moving all day Sat and Sun. I didn't get done until about midnight last night! I feel like I look like I got hit by a bus. This face is not a pretty one this morning.

I haven't been watching my calories or getting to the gym thanks to the busy week. But I will be back on track as soon as I'm all settled.

Hey I am back.
A couple pounds heavier... And I spent a week in a swimsuit! I thought for sure that would keep me on track, but picnic food prevailed. I had a blast though, and tried not to feel totally self-conscious all the time. I can't say I felt comfortable, but I just made sure to spend my time swimming and covered up by the lake water ;)
Kaye, Congrats on the new (grand)baby, I've never heard the name Garrison before, but I like it.
Anyways, I am going to bed. I went on a "run" and thought I was going to be sick. Getting back into this exercise thing is hard! Lucky for me I have a group of people like you guys!

Good Night

Hello all,
I had the one and only "Little Man" who is our firstborn grandson and the coolest kid ever to walk this earth this weekend - Garrison! So, we all just had a big old time and I didn't drink water, and we ate out for the entire weekend every meal, I had waffles and butter and syrup, but the rest of the food outside of being ladened with lard and salt I tried to make sorta kinda healthy choices with very little alcohol. I had a great time and Garrison wore me and his Boompah completely out so we did get way enough exercise! Today I started the walking and circuit workout again but I haven't even opened either of my workout videos so I'm hopeless! I've drank 4 glasses of water today but I'm looking pretty hot for an old lady! Cheri, girl you know that you've just gotta be strong for a short while untill you get that man roped in! You know how to do it, dress up the merchandise, camoflouge, whatever is needed, once you've got him wrapped around that pinky finger then you can worry about being healthy and cheating on brownies once again. Karri, I know my scales are from hell! One day I've lost weight the next day I've gained --- I mean PLEASE! And Karri, you are looking sooo good I just saw you!

I'm officially on count down for the arrival of my N.Y. Boyfriend. Okay...so he doesn't know he's my boyfriend so we'll keep that between us! Anyhow...he's flying in on the 15th. So, I'm going to go back on my anti good stuff diet. A.K.A No sugar or pastries. I went Hog Wild on some brownies last night so I have to make up for it so that I'm looking smokin' hot for the New Yorker.

I was able to get in a great hike on Saturday. 12 Miles!!! But it didn't even feel like it. I have a big hike coming up this Saturday and feel like I'm not the least bit in shape for it!

My scale must be in with your scale because I weighed in at 147 this morning. Two pounds up!! Besides the brownies last night but besides that I have been doing really well, so I think that mine may be lying also.

OK, I don't really believe my scale b/c it's lying of course! But it says taht I'm at 114 again. So I'll give it a few days and if it hasn't changed it's mind I'll shoot it! Have a good weekend girls! Does anyone have some good dutch oven recipes?

You'll have to let us know how they are. I have a few of the FIRM videos and love them! They really work ya. I have actually been trying to work my abs lately too. I have a 4 pack, but it's covered with flab still. The definition is there but I've got a nice layer of insolation sitting right ontop of it. No joke...it's a pathetic chubby girl 4 pack. Aaaww...Sad.

That's too funny! I've got the same thing kiddo! I;ve been hearing about these Firm dvds and so I ordered the one I need the most the dreaded yet wonderfully elusive abs! Actually, we went out to eat with friends last night at a Cuban restaraunt so I didn't get to the workout (just work out on the fork and wonderful drinks?). Tonight will have to be the night because tomorrow night I get the little man! 1st born and much beloved grandson - Garrison is coming to visit his ol' grandma KK and his Boompah and those are high holy days in our home! Maybe he'll wanna work those little abs with his old granny? Nah, probably not.

7 pounds is great especially considering you don't have too much further to go!! I haven't weighed myself in about a week so I'm freaking out! I'm used to my daily weigh in, so I hope I'm not gaining anything!!

Cookie~You're much braver than I am. I haven't been in a swimsuit once this summer! I know...pathetic. But don't you worry...Next summer I will be struttin' my stuff!

Hey Cookiemonster. I'm here for you and I've gotta give you high marks for that long in a swimsuit! I refuse to get into one and I gave Karri my last one because I'm simply F-A-T especially my back which I hate to pieces and I don't think I'll ever look normal again after having tried that swimsuit on! LOL anyway you go girl we're gonna lose this 15 pounds by some month near or on the 15th!

You've all done wonderful! I, like the majority here, didn't lose the full 15 yet. But I am going to keep at it for sure! I spend the next week on vacation, which is houseboating! A week in a swimsuit should somehow motivate me to step up my effort, but I had a miserable last couple of days and unfortunatly fell back on old habits.
However, tomorrow is a new day, and a quick catch-up read of all the posts has made me smile and given me the urge to keep the fridge door closed.
So thanks, I now really see why it's so important have friend support during this weightloss attempt.

Have a great rest of the week, and I look forward to seeing some progress on the weight trackers when I get back! Make me proud

Cheri - congrats on staying with that low of sugar intake. I've been eating so much fruit that I'm gonna turn turn into a fruit fly soon I just know it but it does quell my craving for sugar and Lay's Stax baked chips are doing it for y salt cravings and a few pretzels! So I'm doing ok there.
Karri - I am SOOO happy that you're back, I missed my little girl like crazy! AND I can't wait to get the little man and maybe you this weekend!!!!! Also, I'm proud of you for all the activities and the water and you sure didn't gain any weight so be happy little one.
Bill adn I walked a mile and a half this morning and I did some strength training and walked on the eliptical machine so I'm trying to get worked up to 5k (however, I have no idea how far that is related to miles). LOL! I'm working it here boss!

Okay...I finally broke down and had sugar. Don't worry...this time it was not a spoonful of pure sugar. Every other Wednesday we have the "Candy Lady" come into our office so we stock our candy jars. I always try to keep mine full because I work for three sugar crazy brokers, each with hollow legs. I usually have a draw full of nothing but candy. Anyhow...I bought some really good chocolate mints and I had one! But I justified it by the cravings I've started to get finally. I let myself have one piece and now I'm good for a view more days.

I haven't lost anything but I haven't gained either so that's good. I didn't hit my 15 by the 1st either so the 15th it is! 15 by the 15th just has a much better ring to it!

Cheri, I'm really proud of you and your strong will! I have eaten some pretty crazy things in the past as well but never a spoon of sugar!? I hope it was good but I'd rather have a big peice of hershey's chocolATE!

Well I'm back from camp! It was so hot I thought for sure that I would lose a gillion pounds. I lost zero pounds!?!?!?!? How could I not even lose water weight? I drank 10-15 cups of water each day and stayed low on cals untill the last day and then I lost my mind. But I figured it would all even out since I walked at least 11 miles and swam, and rock climbed, and a myriad of other activities plus the heat! What's up?
Any how it's good to see y'all's posts!
Mom-don't stress you do not have under arm fat!!!!

I survived the weekend and the annual picnic sugar free, however, I did not stay within my calorie range!!! And I topped it off with plenty of inactivity!!

I weighed in with my trainer on Friday and I was still down 4 pounds from the last time she saw me but I didn't lose much body fat so I kind of got in trouble. Whoopsie! She told me to ditch one aerobics class a week and to add two more strength training days and try eating more!! Yikes. She ran through a core routine with me. That was Friday and this morning I still hurt. I am going to have some rock hard abs though I can tell ya that.

I hope all you ladies had a great weekend!!

Ceri, you're doing so well I am following your little tricky ways!
Karri, Yep, I did 2 reps of 15 on my hateful ab machine today, I LOVE the arm machines that Bill says gets rid of the "haggerty sway" under my upper arm that I don't have anyway!
AND I think Sept 15 is perfect for the 15. Later

Karri~The closer you are to your ideal weight, the harder it is to lose. I guess since I've lost so much already it just shows you how far from my ideal weight I am!! Once I start really slimming down the weightloss will become painfully slow. And as far as the candy goes...unfortunately I am an all or nothing kind of a gal. The moment I allow sweets back into my diet, it's all down hill from there. I've cut sweets out before and had slept walked into the kitchen and eaten something. The only reason I knew I had done it was when I stumbled across the crumbs the next morning that I had left behind!! I lived alone at the time so I had no one to blame it on. Talk about withdrawals!! I've also gotten to the point where I clean kitchen and had absolutely NOTHING sweet anywhere. I was craving sugar so bad I ended up eating a spoonful of sugar. Yep...that's right...A spoonful of sugar! Hey, it helps the medicine go down right???? But this time I haven't had any cravings so I must be doing it right by getting enough natural sugars through fruits and things.

Okay...August 15th it is!!

CHeri-when you can have candy again may I suggest instead of having packaged "candy" that you eat one serving of semi-sweet chocolate chips? They are so yummy and only have 70 calories withouth the added fat of real candies. Living without chocolate is so hard for me:(

Mynameiskaye-You ARE going to lose the weight. It takes time but someday you will wake up and really start noticing a difference! Are you doing ab exercises when you do your beloved strength training?

And yes it will have to be at least August 15. Why not september 15th? It's hard for some of us gals to lose! We can't all be like Cheri and lose so much!!!LOL Just kidding-congrats on that btw!

Congrats to Cheri - you keep up the great work kiddo
and to Cookie too I agree with my beautiful and getting oh so skinny daughter, I really believe that alcohol abuse is having alcohol and not drinking it! Thank you Karri for the sweet words, I'm working hard and today I walked a mile and half in 30 minutes, I'm the youngest old person you'd ever wanna meet and I'm gonna lose that 15 pounds too!

Thanks girls!! I weighed in for the second day in a row at 145.5. I feel like I'm finally starting to get somewhere. I'm down a total of 13 lbs. Sounds like a lot but it's not that noticeable. Not for me at least. I'm just over a third of the way to my goal so I have to keep on trucking.

Day 4 with no sugar and it seems to be getting easier. I do still have natural sugars though. It's just bad sugars like candy, pastries...empty sugars basically. I even get my Vanilla Latte's sugar free.

So, have we officially changed the Challenge to 15lbs by August 15th??? That's the day I'm allowed to have candy!!!!! (Only a little though)

Cheri-thank you so much for noticing!!!! I've lost 7 total so far:) Way to go on your weight loss too! Doesn't it fell good? Keep it up on the whole sugar thing. Are you cutting out natural sugars as well, like in fruit?

Cookiemonster-I can't even refuse a drink that costs $$, let alone a free one!!!! Stick to your guns honey!

Mom-you go girl!!!! You keep on losing those inches off that body and before long you'll just blow away! I am realy proud of all your hard work, I know you've been exercising and I can't even believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheri you go girl! That's awesome! I can't imagine 3 weeks without sugar but then that's probably one reason my scale isn't going down so fast. I have lost another 4.5 inches overall so now my grand inches total is 7.5 lost and 5 pounds, only 10 more pounds to go in what, hmmm about 17 or 18 days? No problem --- right?

Oh Cookie...I have the same problem refusing drinks. Good luck with that.

I am now on Day 3 of NO SUGAR!!! Yikes. I think that's an accomplishment and I am trying for 3 weeks??? Oh, it's going to be a long 3 weeks. I made sugar free jello last night hoping that will curb any overwhelming cravings I may get.

I did step on the scale today and it said 145. Down 3 pounds in about 9 days! I'm not going to change my ticker just yet. Just in case it was a fluke.

Cheri, you are an inspiration! However, I am more like Karri, I need that little bit everyday! The week has been going better than my weekend did. I have a dinner to go to tomorrow, but will try and keep the menu choice reasonable. I have faith. I had an amazing workout today, so right now I feel I can tackle anything. We shall see how that holds up at the resturant tomorrow! The night after that is a party night, but I have decided to save up some calories during the day and just nurse (VERY slowly) a couple of drinks all night. This way I wont feel left out, but also will not ruin the diet!
A little hint I learned is to also get water in the same glass that alcohol is served in so others assume you are joining them and do not constantly offer to get you a drink. (I have a problem refusing free drinks ;)

Hello everyone! I'm so happy today (although Bill claims I'm cranky) I have (so far) done it all right and I have calories left over to go have an empty calorie vodka tonic tonight! I did do my cardio and a little strength stuff and I'm gonna go home and do my African Drum Beat workout dvd while I do the laundry and cook a low fat dinner for me and my Billy boy. We'll see how hapy I am tomorrow. I've got to lose that 15 by Aug. 15th
