neuroscigeek, sweets is also my weakness. when girlscout cookies came out i bought several boxes, then i was having some everyday. i ended up giving them away so i wouldn't be tempted. it's hard to resist when there are sweets around!

monique, i get my body fat tested at the gym. i think there are testers that you can buy for home, but i don't know how much they are.

well my day ended at 1400 yesterday. still on the high end, but i'm doing a bit better than usual. i walked for at least two miles yesterday during lunch. i also swam and did kick boxing.

today i won't get much exercise because i'm only working for a couple of hours and heading to raging waters. i'm also expecting to go over on my cals, but i'll try not to go over extremely. ok, i'll check with you later! hope you have a great day!

Hey everyone! SOrry I've been MIA lately. Work has gotten busy. Glad to see that everyone is progressing pretty well. It's so tough when so much of our lives are centered around food. I went to visit my grandparents this weekend and at one's house my aunt bought me a cheescake and the other sent me home with a big box of cookies (180 calories EACH!). How am I supposed to deal with this? My lack of self control is what got me into the situation I"m in in the first place. I did bring the cookies into work for everyone here, but the cheescake is too hard to resist. Looks like I'll be way over the 10 mile goal this week.
Good luck to everyone with your self restraint. It's SO hard for me. It seems like you all are able to keep your cals down a lot better than I am. I'll try and get better. THanks for all the notes and encouragement. It's a great board to be on.

Monique, sorry to hear about your lost. I hope things are fine with you. It could be that your gaining muscles. Have you tried getting a body fat test?

Welcome Nancy! You never know how well you'll do on the challenge until you try. You'll do fine. What type of exercise do you normally do?

I forgot to check in yesterday about my miles for the week. I walk about 2 miles everyday so I got 10 miles from last week. It would've been better if I was able to walk over the weekend too, but the weekends are always hard for me to focus.

I did well on my cal intake! yesterday my day ended at a little above 1300. that's pretty exciting since i've been going over 1550 just about every other day. i think i was exhausted from swimming and my step class so didn't really feel like eating.

Hey Everyone!
If I want to lose 15 by August, I gotta kick it into higher gear! I weighed myself today and I gained 1.2 pounds... and I know I have working out! Maybe it's muscle. Anyway, looking forward to hearing from all of you. Have a blessed day!

Hi Everyone,

I would like to join your challenge, I know it's kind of late to hit the goal but I guess that is what makes it a challenge! I weigh 160 and my goal is 130 by the end of September. Just having a problem "sticking to it" so I think this will be a great way to stay on track. I've been visiting the sparkpeople website for several weeks but this is the first time I have entered a challenge (or posted anything ever to a msg board on the internet).

Good Morning!

I apologize for not checking in a few days last week, I had a death in my family and was very busy...

My cardio minutes were as follows:
Wednesday- 60 minutes
Thurdsay- 150 minutes
Friday- 120 minutes
Sat 40 minutes
Sunday 30 minutes

Hopefully, there will be some WEIGHT LOSS to report on Wednesday. Have a good day!!

hello to all and welcome to all that are new! another weekend of high cals . i tried to stay on track but had a really hard time staying on track, especially with this hot weather i pretty much drank my cals away with great smoothies. i need to make better choices. tomorrow is a new day and i'll try harder. i mean it! ok i'll check with you all later. good night

I've had a bad last couple of days, but hopefully I will do better in the coming week. I'm going to our cabin in vermont with my family, w/no internet/electricity, so I won't be updating for a while. hopefully when I do update I'll have good news. Have fun and good luck everyone!

Hope you feel better Debbie. I haven't done any exercise yet. My cals are at 705 right now and I hope it stays low for the rest of the day. I will go to the gym later on this evening. I'll work on cardio. Hope you all are having a great day.

My calories were really low but I am not feeling well so I am not eating very much which also means i am not doing very much. My whole week has consisted of walking about 1 1/2 miles a day - some days more. And that is it. I've been lazy. I'm hoping to kick it up a notch this upcoming week. I want to be 2 lbs lighter by next Friday.

Crankee you seem to be very active so I'm sure you are burining off alot of those calories. Keep up the good work.

hello to all! my day is ending with my cals at 1472. as for exercise i walked for 45 minutes during lunch, went to swimming and dance aerobics class. aerobics class is a bit disappointing though because we only do 30 minutes of step and 15 minutes of ab, push-ups and stretches. still trying to keep my cals low but i'm not keeping it low enough. i'll keep trying... i'm going to bed early, so good night.

Crankee good luck on having a lower calorie day today. I love junk food too. Especially sweet! I was able to get out on my lunch break and walk around the pond. I went 1 1/2 miles. Yeah! My cold medicine seems to be working and I am feeling better. I have to leave work early to go to the dentist - just to get the teeth cleaned - hope they don't find any cavities!

good morning everyone! i weighed in this morning since i didn't get to yesterday and i'm at 137.5. that's almos a pound gained ! i gotta work on cutting the junk. i also went over on cals. yesterday i ended at 1800. i just can't seem to keep it low. hopefully today will be better. hope you guys are doing better than me.

Hope everyone is doing good. I am having a relapse of my cold. I have a sore throat and silly cough. I'm so sick of being sick. I was a little high on my calories on Wednesday but I blame the cake! Ah yes cake. I had a piece and it was good. I am paying for it now. Well every now and then cake can't hurt - right?

Good morning everyone. Being on vacation is killlling my eating habits. I have a lot of trouble saying no to bad options at restaurants. Also, I left my sneakers at home, so I haven't been able to do any cardio. Luckily, my Dad and boyfriend will be arriving here in Baltimore tomorrow. My Dad is bringing the sneakers and my boyfriend is very good at very kindly and tactfully keeping me on track with food. (AKA "Jane, I think macaroni and cheese might not be the best idea... but look, that grilled chicken sounds delicious!")
Wish me luck! I sure need it.

I liked the movie, but didn't like how it ended. I've never seen the older version either. So I calculated my cals for yesterday and my day ended at 2250. I know that's horrible! I need to be good the rest of the week even on the weekends if in order to lose a pound by next week. My goal is to lose a pound to 2 pounds a week. I'm going to my swim class and dance aerobics class today so I'm kind of excited. I really need to start doing ab work though. Hope you all are having a great day so far.

My husband and I saw the omen last week... I had never seen the old Omen movies so I thought this one was pretty darn scary:), but my husband said it wasn't the same as the first one. I'm glad you were able to see something you enjoyed in the end.

Diva don't worry so much with the gain. Monique's right it might be muscle gain or water weight. Is anyone else measuring or taking the body fat test? That might be really good too in addition to weighing in. When you enter your weight on sp there's some places where you can enter your measurement for your arms, hips, waist and neck. I encourage everyone to do that. I also encourage everyone to get their body fat tested at your local gym. It's usually free to get tested. Congrats to those who lost and also maintained!

Sorry ladies I forgot to weigh in this morning. I was in such a rush, but I will weigh in this afternoon.

Monique, we watched the Omen. If you guys didn't already watch it I suggest you wait until it's out on DVD. I was a bit disappointed with that so we decided to watch another movie. We also watched Cars. It was a bit funny that it was all adults watching. That was a good movie. I definitely went over on my cals. I haven't entered it yet, but with all the junk I had I'm sure I went over by more than a few cals.

Keep up the good work everyone! Remember we need to work hard to reach our goal! WE CAN DO IT!

Keep your head up Diva! Look toward next week and surpassing your weight loss goals!!! And keep in mind muscle weighs more and women do gain water weight!!! Those two pounds may be insignificant at next weigh in...Stay encouraged!

man, just when i pre-planned my meals and workouts my bf wants to go out to this japanese restaurant that i've been wanting to go to. this sucks! i was going to let him and my siblings go w/o me, but then again i do want to go. i'm so mad because i forgot we had plans for dinner and a movie. now i have to miss my dance aerobics class

Good morning to all! Thanks DNLOCKEMY. You're right right it really helps when jotting what we eat down. I was really good with that after a month of being on sp, but I lost the habit after a while. Now I'm back to doing it again. I'll keep a little note pad in my purse so that I can always jot things. I was wondering how much did you get the turbo jam for? I really want to get it, but haven't had the chance to search on the price and stuff.
