Crafting, reading, and writing! If I did not have the hobbies to fall back on I would lose it, this is my way of relaxing and I do all three every day!

And people do wonder how I keep calm. And on top of that I manage 3 websites in the pursuit of sales for my crafting items. Never a dull moment in my day.

scrapbooking, lol. I do so much scrapbooking I even make my family wear colors that "go together" at events, so I can match the paper better, lol. My son has started soccer, so that is fun to watch and I started volunteering at the food bank last night which I enjoyed, but was a lot more work than I thought it would be, lol. Thanks for all the ideas guys.

If I found myself with enough free time to look for a hobby, I think I would like to learn to play an instrument. I took piano lessons as a child, played trumpet in elementary school band & taught myself a few chords on the guitar as an adult. I'd love to fine-tune my guitar or piano skills & play more often.

Is there something that you've always wanted to try but were just too afraid or shy or whatever? This could be the time to do some of those things. I usually read. On Wednesday nights we have soft ball. You just have to find something that you're into.

I used to love scrapbooking until I had to teach yearbook at the high school. After looking at layouts and cropping pictures all day it didn't feel like a hobby anymore. I do online scrapbooking at snapfish.com. Then I can order a professionally bound album with book quality paper. Everyone is always impressed and I don't have the clutter of to-do photos everywhere. In the case of disaster the photos are stored online. Safe in cyber space...ha ha. When I stayed home with my daughter for one semester I joined a mothers group and that kept me busy between my other activities of cooking and cleaning.

They're not supposed to be spectacular--that is an extremely frustrating misconception--they are supposed to be personal and memorable and archival. They are not supposed to be pieces of art--just reflections of who you are/were, your friends, family and most treasured memories. That's all.

I'm not an artist and I'm not particularly "artsy." I just create what I create... I borrow ideas, I use lots of tools, and I write a lot of stories! It's all good, my friends!

Scrapbooking is great as long as one is creative. I do keep scrapebooks for all my kids (one each) but they are nothing spectacular as I am not the most creative person.

What about scrapbooking? I love it and find it SO relaxing, it's a life saver. Not that I have much spare time, but even if it's half an hour, it's such a nice way to sit and get lost in memories, pictures, etc. And I know a lot of Canadians scrapbook. There are many stores in Ontario, but I don't know about Quebec... there are Canadian stores online, though. I'm sure you could find lots of info!

Music can be great. I play the clarinet and piano and my three boys each play the sax while the oldest can also play the piano and guitar.

Some people find it incredibly relaxing as it takes their minds off of so many things.

Do you like music, how about learning how to play an instrument...I know that sounds far fetched but I love music, I took piano lessons for a few years but never got serious about it. Good Luck in finding your new hobby!

I have taken numerous French classes and have gotten a lot better, but seem to have reached my ceiling with the language, lol. Now that it is warm out again I can at least take walks outside.

In that case, why don't you find a language course and improve your french? It would fill in some time for now, and open up more avenues for you later.

I do alot of sentimental things at home for my kids such as scrap books for each of them when they are older. I also create a movie each year for their birthdays of pics and videos of the things they did in the past year.

I take a lot of pictures and do a lot of things with them.

Finding volunteer work in Quebec is a bit difficult because my French is not good enough. It kills me that I cannot do more at my son's school, but the language is an issue. I think I am going to look into finding an English book club, that would be fun.

That's so nice, having all that free time. I'm always running out of time, I used to cut off my sleep hours so I can fit as much as possible... but then I went down to 3 hrs /night and whoaaa, I had to replan everything:)))
I've got some suggestions, there's so much stuff out there, waiting to be discovered. Maybe some classes (dance, yoga, drawing, tai chi, anything), or some certification courses (there's plenty everywhere, even online), there's always volunteering (art gallery - you get to meet lots of interesting people; nursery, hospitals), or you can start running, find a fitness buddy...

Currently, my top passion-priority is dancing and I don't find enough time to practice, to get together with the girls in the troupe, I'd kill for some free time. Other things that I love doing: hiking, photography, running, reading and painting. And I can't seem to find the time.

There are a lot of good things you can do in the community, you can volunteer at a hospital, school, nursing home, or community agency.

LOL
I stay at home, my husband is home a lot too, he works three nights a week and the rest is at home, but he has a million hobbies, golf, tennis, baseball, hockey. We have one child who is 5 1/2, so he is in pre school 4 days a week. I have a small house, so it is easy to keep clean, my husband does all the yard work. Thus, I have the extra time. Now, what I would really love is a new baby to fill my days, but God does not see it the same way so I am looking for something new.

I need a new hobby, Andrew is starting kindergarden next year and I seem to have more free time to fill these days. I read, scrapbook, cook, and workout. I am starting to volunteer this month at church, but want something else...any ideas?
