Husband wants to gain/I want to lose

It's a challenge. My husband's metabolism is so dynamic he's named it! Fiero. It's been my biggest downfall. I've gained 50 lbs since being with him. Over the past three years, We've tried to strategize different ways to coexist in the same house and share meals. He needs about double protein and fat, and about six times more carbs for energy - and not veggies. He needs lots of cheese and pasta or he wilts.

The way I succeeded before he moved in was not to have the stuff in the house. I've managed to overcome the cheese thing, but my portion control is still way off. What I try to do is have a meal with protein and veggies and a separate starch that gets the cheese and not eat that part. It works well - as long as the starch is a pasta. If it's a whole grain he won't really eat it. My portion control is still off.

The other thing - and this may sound strange - is that before I met him I always dated short guys around my height and our weights were always similar. My husband is much taller - 10" taller. I wonder if I have an unconscious conditioning to weigh the same as my partner - or whether my portion control has been distorted by eating with someone who would, with a normal metabolism, be obese.

I'm still searching for the way to coexist. If anyone out there has had success, please post here. I'd love to know how other people have managed this.

Well I don't think he's intentionally trying to gain weight, but mine likes to bring home sweet treats. Like on Saturday he went out and picked up a huge box of Dunkin Donuts Munchins. On one hand I love him...but on the other....hehe

Anyone have a husband who is trying to gain weight while you are trying to diet?? Mine is and it drives me crazy. I have always been heavy, minus the highschool years!lol! He has always been small. But he is gaining now with the help of high protein meals, protein shakes, protein bars, blahh, blahh, blahh!! Oh, and did I mention all the junk food that stays in the house!?!?!? How am I supposed to do well with all that? And not to mention we both are quitting smoking. Help me somebody!!!Please
