TGinnis,

Thanks for the insight into behavior that your child displays. I'm just worried that she might develop it or have it and I just don't see it...

She is 7 and so far only normal child like behavior in my opinion. Thank you for sharing.

My heart goes out to all the moms that have their hands full with this as well.

With my daughter it is severe mood swings, disrespectful and disobedient behavior, sexual acting out, like she doesn't know any boundries, temper tantruming like a little child when she can't get her way. She is also very aggressive and angry, she shouts at you instead of talking in a calm voice. The aggitation level escalates very rapidly and suddenly and she can't control it. She thinks people are talking about her all the time, it goes on and on. She is very difficult to live with. Now that she is a teen her therapists tell me that when she becomes unruly and violent to call the police on her. But I feel she needs help not necessarily locked up in juvenile.

Can either of you describe what it would "look" like in a child? I know it is a mental disorder, but I have not run across this in my family. In my step daughter mom's side there is and I would like to know what you are exposed to so that I can spot it if and when it occurs.

Not saying I have not read the thing on here, but she seems to have highs and lows. But what is extreme? But we all have those to a degree.

Hi SFENNER, Yes I have a 16 yearold daughter with Bi-polar. She was originally diagnoised as ADHD when she was 3-4 years old. Two years ago another doctor said it is bi-polar. She has been on just about every medication there is and nothing helps. She is very out of control.

I am the parent of a child with bipolar disorder. I am wondering if there are others out there who also have a child with bipolar disorder and need support.
