Well, I guess we're done with the crib for now...

We didn't use gates after they were 1. If they needed the the boundary we simply closed the door. We kept the baby monitor in their room forever. I like to hear them playing during the day and I like knowing all is well at night without waking up the household!
My 4yo and 2 yo used it as a microphone. LOL They would wake up and put their mouth directly on the receptor to tell us they were awake. Journey woulds always call for DH, "Daddy, I'm wake. Daddy, I'm wake!" :) A very nice way to wake up in the morning.

Thanks for the ideas! Yeah, I already told my husband we were going to have to get a taller gate than the ones we have. She can reach right over and open the gates that we have now, so half the time I don't even use them!

oh and one more thing . I also left their door open and put up a TALL baby gate so they couldnt leave the room in the middle of the night and get into anything that could hurt them.

Both of my boys swithced to "big boy beds" at an early age because they were constantly climbing out of their cribs. One of the things I did in the switch was keep all the bedding the same. That way the bed felt the same as what they were used to in the crib. The other thing was I took out the crib right away. I know some parents leave it up in the room "just in case" but I think it makes the switch harder when the crib is there in view. Good luck! Oh and dont be suprised if the first few nights you have to lead her back to bed twenty times before she stays put.

Just like with everything else, I guess my 2.5 year old decided she didn't want her crib today. I put her down for her nap, came back in the living room and the next thing I know, she's climbing up on the couch with me!

Thank Goodness we've had the toddler bed set up for awhile now, but we're going to have to get a tall gate or something to put in her doorway. Does anyone have any tips on making the transition go pretty smoothly? I guess, maybe tips on keeping her in her bed in the mornings or what have you. Thanks in advance!!
