losing weight , at this time is not so important as not gaining any more for you would be the right way to go, try to eat a good sensible and balanced diet si that you and your baby have the right nutrician ,, you for the pregnancy and the baby for health and good steady growth , dont cut out foods so much as eat a little perhaps less of the things that you know are not ging to contribute to having a healthy baby and a heathy mum. go light on the cheese the fats the choc,s and biscuits cakes and perhaps pastries, orthe ready meals what ever it is that has caused the weight gain, have less. You know the sad thibg about all of us who are over weight is that we need to be told, when deep down we know the reasons we put on, and we do know how to lose it, it just isnt easy giving ourselves the right prep talk at the right time, you sound like you really want to do it now so make evry effort, you wont be sorry all the best Jill

I agree. Talk to your dr. Even though you don't want to "lose" weight while pg, you will want to start eating healthier and see how much exercise your dr recommends. The dr will probably not want you to gain much weight either with the pg. As long as you are eating and exercising healthy (the way the dr recommends), it should be fine to maintain, lose a little or gain only a little while pg since you are overweight to begin with.

Good luck with your wedding and your next baby.

Right now a few things are more important than losing weight and I think you would agree.

Definately talk to you doctor about weight loss during pregnancy and what would be ok. Couple of other things that could impact your diet after baby is breast feeding? If you do it then there are certain things that you will need to continue to do. If not, then diet is a nonissue concerning baby's health.

Exercise after baby is discouraged for about 6 weeks because your body has been through a lot.

However, there are things you can do right now to set yourself up for success. Those are water - drink lots of it, fruits and veggies - eats lots of these in a lot of different varieties, dairy - eat the lean dairy products (you need calcium for your bones since the baby is taking a lot from you right now), lean protein - lean meats like chicken, turkey, fish, lean beef, egg whites are all good sources. Also get plenty of fiber.

A good website is www.babyfit.com, this is a sister site to this one, which is geared towards pregnancy and breastfeeding moms. I was on it and it helped me when I was pregnant.

Most importantly enjoy the time, you will feel some exciting things going on in you and this is not a time to be overly concerned with your weight. Make sure you have a good doctor that you are comfortable with. Make sure that they understand the importance of this issue to you and find out if they are concerned about any health risks for you or baby, pregancy diabetes. Find out if they encourage you to "work out", take long walks, swim, bike (stationary).

Keep us informed when you have your healthy baby and enjoy your wedding too. YOu have a lot of exciting things going on in your life and lots of positive changes. Hold on for the ride and walk gracefully through it.

Most deffinately talk with your doctor about weight loss during pregnancy. Done incorrectly, weight loss can cause nutrition deficiencies for you and the baby.

Congrats on all that! Talk to your doctor, because they will be able to tell you what you can/can't do, how much you can lose, etc.
