I tend to like movies that are fiction, but are set in historical times.
Gone With the Wind Schindler's List Titanic even Forrest Gump is on my lists of faves.
And although not tied to specific historical events, I thought Shawshank Redemption was great.

I have so many favorites, so I'll just list a few:
1) SciFi; Star Wars, because I grew up with these movies and seeing them is always a big event! Being the only girl in my little Playgroup, I was always Princess Leia! :)
2) Drama; Lost in Translation, something about this movie makes me smile every time I see it. I guess I really like the "unlikely friends" theme.
3) Musical; Across the Universe! It is my new favorite movie. Beatles music, fantastic acting, and gorgeous visuals! Enough said.
4) RomCom; Just Married. I love the pairing of Ashton/Brittany. The whole thing is just cute, stupid and fun.

"The Sea Hawk" high seas, swashbuckling, romance, Errol Flynn -- who could ask for anything more? "Robin Hood" the disney cartoon version. He's such a fox!
I really don't like chicflicks or horror or action movies. I'm terribly picky. There's just too much sex and violence in most movies now.... Bleh. I HATE watching kissing in movies -- and the accompanying sounds. Yeach! I like how people kissed in the old movies -- sweet, chaste and SILENT!!!! Didn't sound like fish slapping around.

| Both versions of National Treasure...because there's part of history involved...there's always a possibilities it's true and Nicholas Cage...yum yum.

| My new favorite is P.S. I Love You. If you haven't seen it, go rent it NOW! It's a fantastic movie. It's one of those movies you want to watch when you need to have a good cry. I cried 2 mintues into the movie and didn't really stop until the ending credits rolled. I'm a sap, though! My all time favorite movie is Legends of the Fall with Brad Pitt. I first saw this movie when I was 10 and have been in love with Brad Pitt ever since. It's just a really good movie. It makes you experience so many emotions, and I like a movie that can do that. I have seen it probably over 100 times and know every line word for word. Kind of sad, but I don't care :D

| I like so many movies it is hard to narrow it down to my ultimate favorite. Of course, any chick flicks that make me cry are truly enjoyable! The Notebook and Ghost are favs. I also like How to Loose a Guy in Ten Days! Any thing that makes me laugh gets a high score too. As far as movies that are action packed, I like Face/Off with John Travolta and Nicholas Cage. For children's movies, I enjoy the ones that are inspired by true stories. Most encourage us to be all that we can be and it's nice to watch shows that don't have all the negative aspects that we try to avoid in our daily lives whenever possible!

Montey Python and the Holy Grail! That movie has so many memorable quotes! Like: French Soldier: I don't want to talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper. I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries. or Sir Bedevere: What makes you think she's a witch? Peasant 3: Well, she turned me into a newt! Sir Bedevere: A newt? Peasant 3: [meekly after a long pause] ... I got better. or the knights who say KNEE! Demanding a shrubbery! I love this movie!

| I just love BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S. I have always loved Audrey Hephurn!! She is the absolute best actress and person ever. I just love that period of time and wished that I could have been there first hand. Over the years I have burned out 5 tapes and 2 dvds watching it over and over again. I love all things 50's and early 60's. My hubby just laughs when I get it out to watch, he makes me watch UF football, so I think it is only fair. (I am a FSU fan)

Pay it forward - A movie that I wished to carry on. It made me cry. The Cure - the caring the older boy showed for the younger one. Heartwarming National Treasure - Love movies that involve solving clues such as this. Have always wanted to play my own version of an rpg game with our sunday school kids as well as a treasure hunt such at this. War of the worlds (the latest version) and Transformers - Just loved the excitement and special affects of the movies.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy, especially the last one is probaby my all time favorite. I just finished watching them all once again!

When I have an extra 6 hours, I love Lonesome Dove. We rarely watch it though because as few times as I have 5 hours to spare, there are even less that hubby and I have 6 hours TOGETHER to spare.
I did just watch August Rush. It was great. Very few movies bring tears to my eyes and I was just bawling. Life is Beautiful is another favorite. Something about the way he sacrifices and protects his son is so incredibly touching.

My favorites are ever-changing! My all-time favorite is Braveheart. The storyline is great, the men are gorgeous, the bares bottoms just icing!
My new favorites are The Spiderwick Chronicles and August Rush. Spiderwick Chronicles was a very well done fantasy. It had all the adventure and suspense you want in a movie. I would suggest not bringing young children to see it though; it was a bit scary at times. August Rush was heartwarming. All of my kids were rapt. It was a movie about fate and faith. I laughed and cried.

| I'm really liking Juno. It's dry humor and sarcasm are great and help me to laugh off my mixed feelings of being pregnant right now. Don't get me wrong. I am happy about the baby. We've been waiting 5 years for this, but there's still the mixed feeling moments and Juno makes it easier.

| 300. Bravery. No matter how strong is the other side, or appear to be. They can be taken down. Just because the leader wants others to think he was a god, it doesn't mean he was. Freedom makes us strong, even if there are few rats around us that may pretend to be with us, but are fake. Sooner or later they will be shown for what they are, Trader. and they will get their Just. Slow and hard, tell the last breathe.

I have a few that I love, but one that I can never miss when it's on, and watch often as an adult would be Carlito's Way. I think that it hits me on so many levels... a sad ending, a true love story, get out of the business movie. It has murder, drugs and MAfia (Spanish mafia, my husband is Puerto Rican and so is Carlito) I love the New York and the timeline. It is all perfect (and Al Pacino is the Main guy... LOVE HIM)
I could go on and on.

| My favorite movie is Temptations. The reason it is so special for me is because my son was born 15 weeks premature. He needed a liver and bowel transplant and when he was about 6 months old we went for the evaluation. Well, it was the first time I had ever spent the night with him and on the tv was the temptations movie and he just loved the music. So, it hold special memories for me.

OOH, what fun. My favorite movie is an OLDIE! 1941: Ronald Colman and Anna Lee. One of the funnies movies I've ever seen: My Life with Caroline. It's dated, sure, but hysterical nonetheless. Here's the blurb from IMDB:
Caroline and Anthony Mason have been married for five years. Due to his successful business, Anthony spends a lot of time away from Caroline. Her father, Bliss, likes Anthony as he has big houses and a large staff of servants. Even though Caroline loves Anthony, she is 'in love' with another man every two or three years. It is at these times that Anthony arrives to save the marriage.
Much funnier than it sounds. It is very much a VISUAL movie -- you can't even blink or you'll miss something slapstick. If you're ever blue, pop it in. It will brighten your day!

| Mine is the Joy Luck Club. The book was much better than the movie but the movie was great too. It is a movie about mothers and daughters. It shows the emotional perspective of both in different situations. It follows three sets of mothers and daughters that end up intertwining. The reason I love this movie is because I only ever saw things from my prospective (daughter) and it wasn't until I was older that I have a mommy perspective too. The misconceptions, assumed criticisms, sacrifice and love in this movie just touched my heart.

What's your favorite movie and why is it? Does it have a significance in your life?
Mine is The Majestic, reason being if you have ever seen the movie is: I feel like that was me in 1999 - 2005. I had a stroke when I was 33 and had to learn who I was all over again. Plus who my family was and then the basic things like walking and talking and so forth.
In the Majestic the man has amnesia and he has no idea who he is, but he looks like the other man so the town he is in tells him who he is and what he does and how he does things in his life. Well that was me, people would tell me who I was and what I was like and so forth. Well it took a long time but I am now my own person and well not the same person I was before.
So what is yours and does it have a significant part in your life is why the movie means something to you?
