After one of my BIL's died, the other two brothers-my hubby and the oldest, decided they needed to spend more time together! So we now take our vacations together every summer--well, it's only been two years, but we've got this year planned, and each year for the next five planned already! The only exception is 2010 when we will celebrate our 10th anniversary, they will have 25 and her parents will have 50--all in 2010--so we're going on a cruise, and they are tkaing her parents to Hawaii!
But we LOVE it!! It's a blast!! THey are the only aunt and uncle my kids really get to see since my brother lives half way across the country and my sister just has a different lifestyle than we do!
We live in Texas so we've done Carlsbad Caverns, Balmorhea State Park, this year we're doing Six Flags and Hurrican Harbor, next year we're doing Sea World/Schlitterbahn, we've also got a trip to Dollywood & Graceland planed for 2011 and the Diamond mines in Arkansas one year! Also camping at Big Bend National Park! or fishing for a week!! Oh, and one year we plan to go see MIL in Houston and hit NASA and the big zoo there!
You can google "family vacations for your state" or "tourist attractions for your state" or something like that! That's how we plan most of our stuff!!
and it's really built our relationshiop up! We've gotten very close spending all this time together, getting to really know each other!!!
HAVE FUN!!

FAMILY VACATIONS ARE GREAT WE STARTED THIS ABOUT 3 YEAR AGO.

| For several years I tried to get my family to go to the mountains (Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburge TN) but they would not even discuss it. Finally last year my husband agreed to go with his cousin and his family. (My husband always thinks it is better if more than just our family goes). Long story short---they loved it!!! My 14yr old finally learned to ride roller coasters and not be afraid (Dollywood). They loved the mountains so much that on the way back home they were already discussing when we would be going back the next summer and what we would be doing. This year my family will be going with my mom, dad, sister and her family. This will be the first vacation that we have gone on with my parents since I was a young girl. We have learned that when you go off to places with other people--that not every one likes the same things. For instance--last year the cousin that we went with liked to sleep in till noon each day, but we believe in making every moment count(you can rest when you get back home). Therefore, we learned to do our own thing in the moring and sometimes we would meet the others in the afternoon. If everyone does their own thing it is a lot more pleasant.

It might help to know what your family likes to do. No sense getting camping recommendations if you won't camp... or info on bicycling trips if you don't like that either. Are you willing to fly, or is that out of budget?
What do you like to do... and where would you like to do it?
