I'm a SAHM wanting to lose over 100 pounds. At this point, my goal is more like 150 but I'm taking baby steps. I've just started and motivation is high! I, too, have worried about loose skin after weight loss. I'm not one of those people that is ever going to be able to afford skin removal surgery---we just don't have that kind of money so I'm hoping if I take it slow, it'll help negate that issue a bit. This is the first time in my life I've been able to stay home instead of work and I don't know if I really like it!! I'm SO used to working.

Hi there. Regarding the loose skin worry, I was told by a prominent plastic surgeon to take grape seed supplements daily.
While it's true that skin does "bounce" back to a certain extent he said that after a certain amount of time being "stretched" in obese people, well the skin loses it's elasticity.
Another good point he made was that the slower you lose it the better as far as "leftover" skin goes. That's why so many gastric bypass people have all that loose skin, lost it too fast and didn't give their bodies a chance to catch up.
I worry about the same thing, the loose skin, especially in my stomach area. It' already hangs enough....ugh!

Hi all. I just joined this SP two days ago. Trying to focus on the little goals I set for myself and not the weight so much right now.
I am a SAHM, married forever, have a 17 year old daugheter and two boys - 7 and 5. My five year old has some intense special needs so that last five years have wreaked havoc on me. Any moms with special needs children in this group? Just curious.
I'm turning 42 on Sunday and really surprised at finding this fat woman staring back at me in the mirror. I haven't figured out how to do all the cute little sayings and weight meters on the bottom of page yet but I have 125 lbs. to lose.
I want, want, want to be healthier, slimmer, pleasing to my husband.
I am an emotional eater, late nights are hardest for me. The kids all go to bed, everything is done and I just drop, sitting there exhausted, and not knowing what to do with myself and so I graze.
My husband works crazy hours, every day a different shift so he's gone a lot at night. I'm sure that doesn't help.
I could go on and on but I mostly wanted to take the leap and introduce myself. I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you as I begin this journey. I want to be able to share with a group of supportive people my success and failure as an emotional eater and maybe dump some stuff here instead of shoving it into my mouth...My name is Dylan by the way, and I live near Sacramento, California.

I am a sahm and I need to lose over 100 pounds. I've been sahm-ing since April of last year, I have a four year old daughter. I love my "job" and I wouldn't go back to the high pressure life I left behind! I would like to drop this weight, and I have made a great start, I think!
I am in a tiny little town called South Boston Virginia.

Hi all. I am a SAHM of one GIANT 18 month old. He was nearly 12 lbs ant birth, and is currently 33 lbs and wearing 3T clothes! Because of how big is is/was, I have 150 lbs to lose. I Just joined this site today, but have been dieting and exercising for the last 17 months (I gained 30 lbs!) When ever I exercise, my son laughs and mocks me. When I do crunches, he stands and squats to play peek-a-boo. The one thing that I found that helps, when I run (around the house, not outside, I hold him for 5 out of the 10 mins. He loves it and laughs the whole time. While it makes me feel silly and a little self-confident, I enjoy the time with him.
Is there any other tips that I can involve him in my work out? We only do little things that don't require equipment. We can't afford a gym membership, so its just little things at home while the hubby is at work. Anyways, can I get some ideas of how to involve my son without a lot of lifting? I have a bad arm, and its hard to just hold him at all, let alone anything past the 5 mins of running with him in my arms.
Thanks in advance, and good luck to all!!

Hi Ladies! I am a SAHM with over 100 lbs to lose as well. I have 7 children...2 are grown and out on their own, the oldest one at home is in public school and I homeschool the youngest 4. I really thought this would be such a challenge since HS is fairly new to us(first year) and since I don't have a time of day when they are not with me, but I have been creative in finding ways to fit exercise in and I am so lucky they are not picky eaters and are willing to eat anything I put in front of them. For my bday my mom got me a stepper($30 @ Walmart) hubby found me leg weights, 2 lb dumbbells and a resistance band(all together just under $30 @ Walmart) and I do most of my exercise at home with the kids. We do have a family Y membership so we try to go 2 or 3 times a week, but it is usually more like 1 or 2 times a week. I also walk our cul-de-sac when the weather is good. Cheap, easy ways to exercise on a budget. Good luck ladies and I hope to get to know some of you better!

I have about 100 lbs to lose, and i'vebeen a SAHM for 6 years. There is no way i could homeschool my oldest (6). She strives for the social life. She is such a social butterfly that she jsut adores school, and she does better there (she doesn't believe a word i say anyways). I do "teach" my middle baby though (she's 4). Sheis a smart cookie and just loves learning. I imagine she will be reading before she enters kindergarten.

I'm new to SP and have roughly 150 pounds to lose. I figure realistically would be 125. I am so glad I found this site! I was floundering! Trying to come up with a weight loss plan this didn't cost tons of money.
I've joined a local weight loss support group and they are all so motivated and they all seem to have tons of money. I felt like such a loser (and not in the weight loss way). They all belong to the Y and are on Jenny Craig, weight watchers and all those other diet programs. If others are interested in free support groups go to meetup.com, they seem to have groups everywhere.
The ability to record my meals and look for other options is good. I do have a problem with the massive amount of carbs in the morning. I don't do carbs at breakfast because I start shaking about two hours later. I've learned that I have to do a protein breakfast. Oh and I guess I'm not crazy about the beans and rice once a day.
I live in Smyrna, TN. So I'm just about mid country.
In reading the posts, I saw several mentions of the weight loss surgery. I would so love to have that done. The problem is is that I'm running into insurance issues. Have to be on a 6 month doctor monitored diet, and have to lose 10% of my body weight. So I guess I'm in the right place. Figure I would print out my progress and menus and exercise posts and give them to the doctor.
In so many ways this site is perfect. I can't thank the people who created it and provide it for free enough!
Would love to have additional support with people that are like minded.
I'm trying to get the motivation going and could use all the help I can get.
P.S. What does SAHM stand for??? (maybe I'm having a dense day?)...

Ohhh I wish I had the patience to home school my son. He is 9 and was diagnosed with ADHD last year. I think home schooling would benefit him, BUT I don't think I could do it. He loves school and I love him going to school! LOL I give you credit for being at home and teaching your kids all day long! Best of luck to you! Chat soon!

| I have heard so many mixed reviews about that surgery. I'm no doctor but, any kind of surgery scares me. Diet and exercise are the only sure weight loss plans that I know of. Not just any diet, more like a life style change to eat healthy! That's why I love this site. If I wasn't told what to eat everyday, I don't think I could succeed! With a 7 pound loss in 3 weeks, I'm sure that this will work! I have tried so many different things as well as different times. I finally have my mind set...I am going to do this!!! Good Luck to everyone out there, we can doooo it!!

With SP it is easy! I follow the nutrition daily, I do the exercise, they tell me to do, and with people like you I know I can do this! My problem is wanting something to eat at night. So I look at my food log for the day and figure out what my last snack can be! Last night I wanted something sweet soooo bad. So I had frozen yogurt with raspberries. Was actually really good and got rid of my craving! Chat later!
