I really like the activity books by Judy Press. You can probably find them at your local library. The ideas are easy and my kids have loved them.

I know we are outside a lot with my 1 and 3 year old boys. They like to just play with a lot of the bikes, sandbox, swings slides. I did purchase the book that was suggested here on SP called family Fitness Fun by Rose Kennedy. It has a list of games to play, gives age ranges, number of players, and all the rules for the games. I did find a few for age 3, and they go up from there. But there are indoor, outdoor, summer, winter, rural, and city games. I have heard people do scavenger hunts . Have tehm find something Green, find something rough, find something fluffy... this gets them thinking about things. My 3 year old loves to kick the soccor ball around the yard and have me chase him. Sidwalk chalk is OK as well, have them trace you on the ground. Then you can trace them and see which one is bigger, smaller, in the middle. Crayola has a bunch of new things out that are washable, or only mark the special paper.
I did buy some of the new "Moon sand" non toxic, never dries out.... I PUT IT Downstairs and haven't seen it since. It's all flaky, and gets everywhere.

Kind of started this in another thread but will rework it here.
I'm often home during the day with the kids. Looking for easy, creative ideas for my 5 and 3 year old that don't tax Dads' mind too much.
Easy, non messy crafts, interactive game ideas etc.
