Spanking doesn't work at all. Give your little one time to adjust and never give in to the tantrum. If my daughter needs to tantrum, I put her in her room and tell her she can come out when she's ready. She is like a little adult though and will stay in her room just fine. When she comes out, she's much better. Never, never give in to a tantrum. kids are smart, they'll do what gets them what they want.

Personally I'm not a spanker...but I definitly use time out for my almost two year old. I don't know how I'd survive without it. And she gets it. I'll come back to get her and ask her what she's done and she'll have to tell me and say sorry before she can get out. Once we spent the better part of an hour going back and forth to time out bc she refused to pick up the dog treats she dumped out. Eventually though she gave in, cleaned them up, said sorry and we hugged and moved on.

I don't think a 2yr old is too young to spank, but I'd say that in your situation what she needs is more talking and explaining and such. She was the youngest and now she has 2 invaders taking her mommy's time and attention. Definitely explain to her that screaming is not going to get her what she wants and don't give in to when she is doing it, but be really patient. :)
As for 1 month olds in the pool... *I* wouldn't do it, that's REALLY itty bitty. Is there a shady place you could put their baby seats or set up their swings? where you can see them and they aren't in the sun, but you can play with/watch the kiddos in the pool?
