Hi KJ,
Welcome to SparkPeople. The good news is that you are aware of the situation. You mention that you have already spoken to your son directly and he's also aware that you know what he's doing. I would suggest speaking to his primary care physician about his recent behavior and choices. His doctor will be able to help point you in the right direction to help your son cope in a healthier way for himself. With high school coming to a close for the summer, you may want to suggest it to the school guidance counselor as well, he or she may have a referral that your son can speak with over the summer to help him as well. While most discussions around eating disorders are generally spoken about teenage girls, it's just as important to recognize that boys can also suffer from this as well. Speak to a professional and keep the communication open (as much as you can) with your son. If he's not comfortable opening up to mom or dad, find someone that he will open up to. Hang in there! My teenage son has started throwing up occasionally when he overeats. I realized he was doing this one day when he was throwing up in the yard. I've noticed it a few times since and confronted him about it. He has always been a big all over kid - over 6 feet tall at 15 - and a kid who loves to eat, but now that he is in hight school, he has become very weight conscious. He is not overwieght, but My son has never been skinny like other kids who eat and eat and never gain weight. He gets exercise and is healthy overall, but I worry he will sneak and make a habit of this. I don't know where to start to get help addressing this issue. Please make suggestions. Thanks
