| I'm not sure if they have history, but Usborne books has a nice selection of 10-week lesson plans for over the summer. They have activities to do, games to play as well as books to read. I know they have some science topics, but haven't looked at them lately to see if they have any history (though I do know they have one on knights).

Good morning. I have a few ideas for you that hopefully will help. I am a history teacher but I have not taught since my son was born in 2002. I have an extensive library and favorite history section (on my computer). I saw your post and looked through some of my things. Here are just a few. I am not sure how old your children are so these may or may not help. Here are some websites - americaslibrary.gov historynet.com scholastic.com.
Scholastic has activites for many subjects. They have a parent section that will be very helpful.
I would also recommend seeing if your local library has the Oregon Trail computer software. It is a very fun, interactive game that teaches about that trail. My students always loved to play it when I had it set up in my classroom. There used to be software that was called Where is Carmen Sandiego or something like that. It was fun and my students loved it too.
I'll keep looking through my things and see if I can come up with some more.
Best wishes! Julie

Check out this website and see how you like it. It has facts, activities, and sheets you can print off. Looks pretty kid friendly.

Over the summer I like to keep my kids busy with some school like work. We practice math work sheets, spelling, grammar and usually some fun science projects. It’s nothing as rigorous as the school year, but enough to keep them sharp for the next school year. I always try to make it fun and play more learning games than just work sheets.
This summer I would love to be able to work in some history as well. But I’ve been out looking at teacher supply stores and on line and I am not finding much in the way of history. Or at least nothing that strikes me as being fun for the kids. I have found a lot of websites that say they are for kids, but all they do is just list the facts. They do not have any coloring sheets or activities.
So I was wondering if any of you guys out there know of any good sites or teaching aids for history that is fun and geared towards children.
