OUch! My 2 year old did that recently on the side of her tongue and I think she bit all the way through it. It looked horrible, but I'm just glad she didn't knock another tooth out. I heard that stuff in the mouth heals pretty quickly and they only do stitches if there is a loose flap. I just asked her to show me where it was, and I can't even tell, so it healed really well.

Glad to hear he's doing 'ok' there with that owie and at least able to still eat the good stuff he needs.....and drinking out of a regular glass might not be all bad there...no more missing sippy cups :)

Hoping he stays on the mend there and things go well for him :)

I called the Dr. they said they couldn't do anything for it. They don't stitch them, and it will just heal on it's own. I am a bit concerned that it won't heal correctly. At least next week he has to go to the DR anyway for his 3 year check up. He hasn't complained too much, except when he tried to eat pretzels, and use the sippy cup. SO now all the drinks have to go in regular plastic glasses till it heals.

oh ouch!! Hoping he gets well there soon....when my cousin was small potty training she slipped off the toilet and bit her tongue, hers was stitched, she had three or four stitches in there...when my oldest daughter was small she was eating off a spoon at our table and slid off her chair with a spoon in mouth and hurt hers badly too and just this year after six years of speech therapy has graduated from speech therapy.......

Hoping yours heals well and doesn't require further treatments from the bite there..........I know all my kids here have bitten there tongues and generally do fine in a day or two but the bad ones make sure to get the doc to look at them good too

I just got a call from the day care, my 3 year old tripped in the wood chips and bit his tounge. It's about the center and I would say about 1/2" wide. IT looks HORRIBLE. thank goodness he is not complaining too much and had stopped crying when I was there. But it just looks AWFUL. I did call the Dr. and they can not do anything, but just told me to have cold foods like popsicles for today. Maybe I can do some fruit ones tonight and freeze for tomorrow. At least it would be something. He must have had his tounge sticking out when he did it.
But what do you do with running boys!!!!
