I'm glad to hear tossed your scale! I think so many times we can become so fixated on a number that we forget to look at how we actually feel!
Keep up the great work and I look forward to sharing more positive successes along the way!
Take care, Kelly

| I just wanted to share with everyone how excited I am. Last week, I tossed my stupid scale lol. I hate it. And also, even though my clothes don't feel any better, oddly enough my shoes are loose and my wedding rings flew off my fingers the other day lol. I was doing my workout at home (I still do a post natal tape) And when raising my arms up my rings slid right off! I slo noticed my baby pooch was gettings saggier, the fat under it has melted a little!! Anyone know where to find a good pair of jeans to stuff it into? lol Tonight I'm off to buy my dress for a wedding I have to attend on saturday. I reached a sort of personal goal of purchjasing the dress in a size L....not XXL. Not a huge difference in my size really, it's just a matter of I want the dress to fit my curves. I thank Spark for your help, however, I must admit, in a desperate clinch, I had McDoanlds for dinner last night, but oddly enough it fit into my calories for the day lol

Hi ladies,
I have struggled with weight loss since having my son almsot 9 yrs ago. Alot of it was pure laziness. The rest was very unhealthy eating habits. I joined sparkpeople last year at this time. I just made it to stage 2 and life got away on me. I just returned to spark for round 2 in march this year. I am happy to report that i am doing wonderful this time around. I think being ready was a big part of it.I am more determined then ever now. I joined a challenge to keep me motivated. In the two weeks since beginning the challenge i have lost 5 lbs and 4.5 inches! Since returning to spark i have lost a fair amount. I feel great now. I learned to stay off the scale as much as possible. The weight fluctuations threw me for a loop and almost made me give up again. One day the scale said i gained 9lbs over night. I wanted to die. Turns out my scale went on the fritz ( thank god). But even with my new scale there is alot of fluctuation. Hang in there and dont let it get you down. You can do this and you are worth every pound you lose! Keep going strong. You have a wonderful support system here. Take advantage of it.

Hey, thanks for all the adive. I didn't mean to sound like I needed to see results immideitaley, I know it takes time. I was more worried about my health with the fluccuations but now that I know 11 pounds can be normal, I feel better. Wjhat I noticed first was the way I felt. I feel slightly more energized. As m uch as someone with a one year old can feel lol I have actually done the spark diet before and failed miserably. But I realized I just wasn't ready. I started not long after my osn was born. I've been trying to knock off pregnancy weight for a year now and it's so frusterating that none of is has moved. I re started again more determined than before, and though I'm having a hard time with the food aspect the excerise is going wonderfully. Thanks for the support, lord knows I need it right now!!

It takes time to see the results.. The fluctuation is definitely going to occur..
I love the advice you are getting... But it is my belief that if it comes off to quickly you will possibly gain it back.
It takes time to change your eating habits... You are developing a different type of lifestyle... You will slip... stay within your calories... drink plenty of water...
do you weigh yourself at the same time ? are you naked?
When you excersise, you will grow more muscle.. that is a good thing...Do you retain water around your period? that can also play into this as well...
Keep reaching for the fruits and veggies...
don't give up... I know that I have fluctuated...

Mara,
I realize that you are frustrated and probably wanted to see different results by now but the truth is your weight can flucuate from one day to another. The fact that you are able to adjust your belt size is proof that you are on the right track. Use other measurements besides the scale. Measure your neck, your arms, hips and waist. It's possible to drop inches and not pounds. The key is being consistant with healthy habits. Stay with in your calorie range. Keep up with your fitness through the week. Get your water in each day. You will see positive results in time. Don't beat yourself up because you don't see the results you thought you would. It's only been three weeks and every person is different. Hang in there and keep working at it. I know it may be difficult but try not to weigh yourself more than once a week (if even that often). It's nothing more than a number and what matters is how you feel inside and out.
Hang in there and keep up the great work! Keep us posted on your success.
 Kelly

| you are building muscles right now. Muscle weighs more than, fat. You have to build muscles frist, then comes in the toning, then finally you loose the weight. It takes awhile, but the end result is great. You will have muscles, your body will be toned, plus you will have lost the weight. Hang in there.

| Ok, I need help. Seriously, in three weeks I've gone from starting at 203lbs, dropped to 191 and bounced back up to 200 and now I'm sitting at 199. In THREE weeks? What in the world is going on?? Is it me? Is it my scale? I have noticed any o9f my clothes fitting me any better. I had to move my belt loop one notch thats it. Beleive me, I cried when I did that. Most of my weight is from my pregnancy 1 year ago, I had a c-section so my muslces are still not where they were before I was pregnant. But for my weight to bounce like that? That is so not healhy. My scale is a digital, is there a better one I could be using? I'm worried for my health. I have had my thyroid checked as well and apprently its fine. Please help, any advice is more than welcome.
