WHEN I WAS WORKING (NOW RETIRED) I WOULD TAKE MY LUNCH BECAUSE I WORKED THIRTY FIVE MILES FROM ANY FAST FOOD RESTURANT WHICH WAS PROBABLY A GOOD THING. I WOULD PACK A LITE SANDWICH 40 CALORIES BREAD, LITE LUNCH MEAT 60 CALORIES FOR 2OZ. SERVING WITH LITE MAYO ONLY 5 CALORIES AND TOMATO AND LETTUCE, GOT TO LOVE THOSE VEGGIES. THEN I WOULD TAKE EITHER AN APPLE OR BANANA OR ANOTHER PIECE OF FRUIT. AND FOR AN AFTERNOON PICK ME UP I WOULD HAVE BABY CARROTS. I WOULD ALSO TAKE BOTTLED WATER, DID'T TRUST THE WELL water AT THE PLANT.

That does sound really good. Maybe I'll do this for my picnic day next week! :)

Love the idea of a leaf of Romaine and wrap something in it. I'll try that next week.

I usually bring lunch and several healthy snacks with me to work each day. One of my new favorites is lettuce wraps. I buy several heads of Romaine lettuce, peel off the large outer leaves and fill them with different things. I package up the lettuce for the week and bring different fillings each day. Sometimes it's turkey with low-cal ranch and avacado or chicken with dijon mustard and tomatoes, whatever I have in the fridge. I also bring whole wheat cracker with hummus, wraps, sandwiches and soups. When I have leftovers from a healthy meal I package them in small containers that I can grab for lunches.

that sounds like a great idea.. eating lunch in a beautiful garden...

It can only boost your spirit...

I know I have gone to parks before... I would pack a lunch.. salad, fruit, or a sandwich of some type...
water ...etc..

eat and look at the flowering trees... walk and listen to the birds...

I just love that...
Right now we are getting to much rain so I have to wait a little longer before I can go and enjoy the parks at lunch...

I think next week I'm going to plan a lunch out. We have this lovely hidden garden in a building not too far from mine. It should be a wonderful place to eat and enjoy some fresh air!

Is it silly that I'm excited about this? Maybe I'll have to plan some weekend picnics as well. I'm sure the kids will love that. I'll have to get them started before it gets too hot here.

I usually take either a PB&J sandwich on whole wheat bread, or a turkey sandwich with cheese & lettuce on whole wheat (buttered, no mayo). Plus I take a fuji apple, a medium banana, a handful of baby carrots and some yogurt. Today I added a hard-boiled egg to the mix. Along with my breakfast (Kashi GoLean cereal & milk) that usually totals approx. 850 calories for the day so far, which then leaves around 350-650 calories for dinner and dessert.

If you were close by you could join my mother and I for lunch in the Park Hunisu.

We went again today but to a different park. After eating we walked around the park looking at the different plants and surroundings then went back to work. I think we will do that more often.

nice! I don't often get out for lunch, but lunch in the park sounds heavenly. I'll have to see what I can do to make that happen before it gets too hot!

These are all good ideas. My goal is to bring my lunch with me everyday when I'm at my town office. Today, my partner who is also my mother who is on this sparkpeople.com program, and I went to a park and ate our salad in the sun. We loved the change and got some much needed sun light!

I usually take a Lean Cuisine frozen entree and a piece of fruit.

I usually take a sandwich with carrots or a piece of fruit. I'm fairly uninspired by lunches, but from the menu plans it seems like there could be some good options to switch things up a bit.
