Small things. Ground turkey is wonderful, but make sure you are getting the low fat stuff. The regular is just as bad as hamburger.

Instead of greasy pepperoni on pizza, I get the turkey pepperoni. Tastes almost the same, but no grease and half the calories.

Baked chips instead of fries. Cheetos, tortilla chips, potato chips, etc can all be found in the baked variety.

I changed from ground beef to ground turkey for the first thing, then I only bought baked chips. I also quit buying really bad for you treats. The kids have really done well. They like pudding pops!!!!

I totally agree with starting with one thing. For example, I try to keep fresh fruit in the house if possible. When my 4 year old asks for a snack, I offer him a bowl of grapes or a banana or a sliced up apple. Usually he will jump right at one of those choices. When he starts, the 2 year old will always want what his brother has! Ha! Ha!

We also do 'veggie mixing'. My kids love potatoes, but not very many other veggies. Some times I will mix peas or green beans of carrots into the potatoes. The will eat them better that way!

Good luck to you!

What i have done is gone through the recipe section and printed off anything that appeals to me. I put them in my recipe box and when i go to make supper i pull one out and make it. My family doesnt know it came off a "diet" website so they are none the wiser. Everything tastes great and i have had no complaints. I get compliments on how good things are. Sometimes what they dont know wont hurt them.

Dear Rishdale
I think you have to do it one step at a time, I think you need to involve them and I think you need to make it fun. I think I would think about what was the most unhealthy thing about their diet and concentrate on that first. My kids have a fairly healthy diet but they don't really drink enough so I'm concentrating on that. What is your main concern?

How do you get your family to eat more healthy without completely changing the taste and will the change affect them for the better?
