| I've had three c-section in three years so I feel your pain! I know my ob gives the go ahead for walking as exercise 3 weeks after delivery and 8 weeks for strenght training.

| I've had 2 c-sections and a hysterectomy - 3 cuts in the same place so I have a really pronounced dip. (The extra weight I'm currently carrying around makes it even worse.)I'm sure it will still be there even after I reach my goal weight, but hopefully it won't be as bad. After my second c-section, I was able to significantly decrease it by getting down to 140lbs and doing cardio kickboxing regularly (great for the core muscles!) It was still there but much less pronounced.

| I've only had one c-section and it was years ago but I still have the "bulge". I've been using SELF firm flat abs dvd and it has been working. My main problem is they screwed up my incision so I have kinda like a weird dip/almost hole and nothing had ever worked before. Now it's leveling out but i'll prob. still have a weird dip. I got it at walmart.

| One thing I've noticed is that when I do sit-ups, etc consistantly for a while my tummy starts tightening up, but as soon as I miss for a day or two, it goes right back to where it was before. I can't believe how slow of a process it is!!

From some of the articles I've read on here, it says that some exercises can be started right away, and then work your way up to it. I think there are some things that need to be avoided until later on because of risks, but you can start some of the very basic things right away. It's been 3 yrs since I had my last c-section, so I'm way behind, but I've just recently started the weight loss process, but I remember in the hospital they gave me a list of exercises that could be done right away. I've got the extra skin too, and I'm not sure what will happen with it. I hope I don't have it the rest of my life, I'm hoping that as I lose weight that the skin will shrink back, but then you see these people that have lost tons of weight and they have this flabby skin...I really don't want that!! I think I read somewhere that if you lose weight gradually, your skin will keep up with the weight loss and shrink, but if you lose a lot at one time that it can't keep up, and will just be flab...not sure how true that is, but I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere.

I am in the same boat. I just had my first c-section. It is very different than having a baby the oldfashioned way. Does anybody know when can you start doing ab workouts, like crunches? I can't seem to find ANYTHING on when you can start working out. Most everything I have found says to basically stay on your butt for 2 months! That is just NOT gonna happen. I hope it doesn't take 8 years to get some of my body back.

| I am having a hard time getting read of the belly fat and the extra skin!I had a C-sections with both my sons and they were 10 months apart. My youngest is 14 months now and I finally started exercising a month ago. I have been using a belly, butt, and theighs video I found at Walmart for $10 and I have lost 2" in one month in my stomach it is a amazing video! However I dont know if I will ever completely get read of the extra skin -I have been using aveeno skin tightening and it has helped some. But I would love more ideas on how to get read of the fat and the excess skin too.

| I'm in the same boat, my kids are 19 1/2 months apart and they were both C-sections. I have found that cruches do well but it is a long trip to tighten up again. My husband has agreed that when our youngest is 5 (3 more years) if I want I can get a tummy tuck, but I am going to work it off to the best of my ability! I do not want to go that route, and I know there are workouts to focus on that area. I am finding that toning is the hard part. The weight is going, but the skin is not tightening. If you gain any more suggestions please let me know.

There are some great articles in the Fitness Resource Center about rebuilding your core after pregnancy. There is even an article that references specific exercises that you can do to achieve your goal.
Don't get discouraged. Everything worth achieving takes time and effort!
Be well, Kelly

My wife had a second c section after our first child was breech and the version didn't work.
Basically, she works on the swiss ball...crunches, kicks, etc... that and cardio and she's doing pretty well.... There really isn't anything you can do to target the "baby fat" in the stomach...just take it easy with minimal work on the stomach...your trying to rebuild those muscles (its almost like teaching them how to work again).
I have to say, I don't think that it takes 8 years to get your body back in shape, but it does take time...Its been two and my wife is just about there.

| I had two c-sections within 14 months. I had 2 girls, both were delivered natural, but then my third child was breech. Neither I nor my Doctor wanted to try to a VBAC with my 4th child. So I ended up with another section. Anybody have any suggestions on how to tone those muscles again after they are cut? I don't want a flabby stomach the rest of my life. I've heard someone say that it takes 8 years to get that back in shape. Don't know how true this is, but was wondering if anybody had some insight on this topic. Thanks!
