It is so difficult to keep trying to get pregnant month after month and nothing happens. We are now on six months of trying including my very early miscarriage.

Hi there! I'm new to this site. I have an 18 month old daughter that I gained 60 lbs with! :( I kept on 30 lbs post-pregnancy and then got pregnant again with our 2nd daughter who is now 7 weeks old. We want to have one more but I told my husband that I'd really like to get this weight off before we conceive the next one so my goal is to get it off in a year! I'm hoping that it will help with the pregnancy AND labor!

My husband and I are currently TTC our 2nd. This was the first month I started taking provera, to start my period, and clomid to make me ovulate. No luck this month, I didn't ovulate. So I'm getting ready to go pick up my next Rx, and my doctor is upping my clomid from 50mg. to 100mg. So, well we what happens. I'll keep everyone posted.

I have decided to lose some pounds before we completely start TTC. I'm taking my temps at 6am already, but my cycles are irregular and long. I'm hoping to balance things out with a healthier diet & supplements. I'd like to lose 15-30 pounds.

Hi, I've been TTC for 7 months now and I've been on the fence about losing weight. Reading the post has been a wake up call for me. My last pregnancy was easy but I gained 45 pounds. There's no guarantee that the next pregnancy will be easy or free of complications. So, I'm now committed to losing weight. This was my major rationalization for the past 7 months--why lose weight now when I'm just going to gain more being pregnant?

I'd rather be as strong and fit going into this pregnancy. I'd rather not get a complication that I can prevent by taking care of myself now.

My husband and I were married in June of last year. We are planning to start trying to get pregnant with our first later this year. I am going to stop taking my pills in July and hopefully by Christmas we will have a big announcement to share with our family and friends. I am hoping that by losing so weight now I will have a little more freedom during the pregnancy along with a healthier and happier one!

Doing pretty much the same as you. My daughter is 19 months old and we wanted to ttc this summer. I had gestational diabetes with her so I would really like to be in good health going into this pregnancy. I figure if I get down to my ideal weight and continue to stay active/healthy during the pregnancy, I might be able to avoid gd next time.

I may be starting a little preemptively, since my baby's only 3 months, but we plan to try again when she's about a year to 14 months, so I figure this'll give me time to get back where I'd like.

A good site to use for figuring out due dates, etc. is www.mymonthlycycles.com

There are many baby sites that will let you put in future cycles to estimate a due date. You can also use an edc wheel that many dr's have.

Does anyone know of a baby due date calculator that will predict a due date based on future cycles? Looking for an easy way to estimate...

I am right there with everyone on this board! My son just turned one, so we've got some time (probably about a year) before we start trying for number 2, but I'm trying to get to work on losing the weight now. It's so frustrating some times though, especially when it's just so easy to snack during the day while taking care of a little one!

Hi everyone. I"m Lisa, and I also want to lose weight before TTC baby#2. I had lost all of my babyweight but then started drinking regular pop and not really watching what I ate. Boy did the weight ever come back fast! My little gal is 3 by the way.
I need to lose about 30 lbs, but I would like to start trying before, because who knows how long it could take to get pregnant! I had a miscarriage first, but then got pregnant 2 months later. Had another early miscarriage in December, so I am hoping when we do try, it won't take long.
Is anyone here from northwest Ohio by chance?

Hi all,
We are going to start TTC in March or April. If hubby had his way we would try this cycle, but I don't want to because we are leaving for Hawaii on March 1st. I am trying to lose these last 15 pounds before we got PG again, and lose 10 pounds before we leave for our trip. This will be our 3rd baby. We also have Braedyn who just turned 2, and Carter who is almost 10 months. We are hoping for a girl this time!

Hi all my dh and I trying for our first... we are older to be trying (I am 37 he is 48) but are ready to be parents. I have been off the pill for a year but we just started charting. I am giving it another two months before I go to the dr. to find out what is up.
So far I have lost 25 lbs in the last 6 months and I am still trying to lose about 20 more.
Good Luck all!

Hi there, I also joined yesterday after deciding that I liked this site better than the biggest loser club. This one has everything I wanted and it's free. I am also TTC, we are actually starting this month with the help of clomid. While TTC I'm also working on my first weight loss goal of 44 lbs. That will put me back at my pre-pregnancy weight. I had gotten down to 199 when I found out I was pregnant with my son. I would love to be there again. But if I get pregnant before that happens I will be ok with that too. I just really want to get healthy so I can be healthy for myself and my family.

Hi everyone! I'm also going to start TTC around Aug/Sept...going for our first. I also have pcos and have been told that losing weight will help us conceive. I'm looking to lose around 40 lbs. or so, which still won't put me at a "healthy" weight, but any weight loss is better than not. Glad to see other people who are also TTC, definitely gives me more motivation to get healthier!

Oh, and OT, but how do you get the little tickers and pictures by your name??

I am new to this site and was referred by THe biggest loser program of which I had joined last month and lost 5 lbs and 4 inches so far. Turtle wins the race=)
First off-this is the board I need. I have a 21 month old daughter and plan to go for the second child in May or June of this year. With Ava, I was 190 when I conceived and was about 245 full pregnancy, delieved on due date. I did nto have any healthy problems and hope with the second that is true as well but towards teh end I was uncomfortable. I know I ate wrong but with first pregnancy as many others have told me that related, we tend to overindulge and in my mind I had a fear of not feeding her-twisted thinking but...was all about ice cream, milk, cheese, anything dairy but did not go for the grease or salt?
Anyhow, I lost all but 5 lbs of the weight with the birth and with nursing her for 7 months but it has crept back to where I am now at 208 since, about a gain of 10-20 from pre prego.
I have recommitted myself and gave myself the "permission" to be selfish in order to be healthier and happier. I put myself last and know now that I need to prioritize so that I can provide more to my daughter and marriage....I am a full time therapist which can be stressful.
I hope that this site works well, so far it is impressing.
Sorry for long intro but one more question-where should I go on site for more details of the program, like swapping food, workouts, diet,calories....I see how to do it but want more details of assistance. Any tips from any of you would be appreciated!

Amy-
I started trying in September and I got pregnant, but had a miscarriage. My OB said that I should start taking prenatal vitamins. He said it sometimes tricks your body and helps bring up your levels which allows you to get pregnant quicker. Just an idea! I started taking them in hopes that I will get pregnant quickly and be able to carry full-term.

RTAYLOR1...we have the exact same goal!!! I have a 17 month old and we want to start trying this summer so I need to lose 25 pounds. I want to be back at what I was when my hubby and are started dating. I put on weight after we got married...I got pregnant when I was the heaviest I had ever been in my life and then gained 46 pounds! I just stopped nursing in December and started really working out again in July. I am sooooo determined do lose the weight. I already told my DH that we won't even try until the weight is off. I just turned 33 in November and have a family history of female problems, so I want to make sure I am the healthiest I can be. I would love to chat with you sometime, since we have such similar stories.

AMYJ- Have you been charting? Do you know when you are ovulating? I have heard from several people that after a year of trying it's time to check into things and see what's going on. Has your husband been to the dr? If you weigh only 170 lbs I'm thinking that it should not be a huge factor in whether or not you're conceiving. Do you have other children? I guess I'm just trying to get more info. Good luck!

I've been off the pill since October of 2005 and still haven't gotten pregnant. I haven't ever been pregnant and I did blood tests that say I am "normal" and everything should be fine. Someone told me to lose a few pounds and maybe with that change I may conceive easier. Is this true?

ABIGFAMILY, good luck! I'm the oldest of 7, and we always had fun!

I was overweight when I got pregnant w/ my son, ate like crap and didn't exercise, and boy am I paying for it now! Delivered him at 210!!! Getting back into shape has been hard enough that I made a promise to myself never to do that again! The next baby, I am starting out at a healthy(er) weight, eating healthy, and exercising!!!

Hi all! Believe it or not, I am losing the weight not only for me, but so I can be eligible for a tubal reversal. I was just remarried in Dec to a wonderful man who has 1 child. I have 4 from my previous marriage and now we want one together. Yes, we will then have 6!! There is no guarentee that the procedure will work, but we are hoping for the best!

I am excited to lose some weight before trying to conceive again. I just had a miscarriage in December and the emotional stress was overwhelming. My weight increased drastically because I am an emotional eater. My hope is to drop the weight I want and then have a beautiful baby!

Hi. I can relate to what everyone is saying. I am trying to lose weight before I get pregant. Just like everyone else, I've been off the pill for 9 months and charting. Nothing happen yet. At my weight, everything is hard. I'm 36 and time is wasting. If anyone have any advise, I would like to hear from you.

I am not charting this time. But I've never had an issue conceiving. With my daughter we used shettles to try for a girl and had to chart. But this time since we have one of each we're just doing whatever and getting what we get. I'd be thrilled with a boy or girl. We are not officially trying. And won't be until march or april but that is just around the corner already:) I'd still like to drop probably more than I can by then losing weight "the healthy way" so I will probably have to watch myself much more carefully with weight this pregnancy. I also hope to stay active which did not happen last time secondary to a low placenta (that eventually migrated up... thank God). Well hope everyone is having a good sunday
