Exercising at home

I have this same problem. I had to give up my gym membership. Before kids going to the gym was my favorite thing to do.

Right now I have a really good elliptical at home, but my boys keep me busy late into the evening. And my youngest hasn't been sleeping well at night so I'm just so exhausted I have no energy left at that time to exercise. And too tired to get up early in the morning!

Thanks Dee,
I'm sure if you have time with 3 children I can find the time with two. I'm sure you are very busy as well. I can only wish for the weight you have. It looks like you are doing great. What's your plan? I'm sure you are eating healthy.

Boy oh BOY can I relate to the working out at home. I used to have exercise equipment, but since I live in a small apartment with my 3 children, that is something I had to give up. The key is to find a workout that you love to do. I get home from work and am excited to pop in my turbo jam tapes and punch my way to a better body. It takes away the stress from the work day and the stress of being a single mommy. I also use workout DVD's for strength training (I bought a resistence band and free weights 5 - 10 pounds). It has been working, I look and feel better!

Good luck!

If you can invest in a piece of workout equipment at home I'd recommend it. If not, dvds with aerobics are fantastic! jogging with the stroller is always a good idea...

I recommend the biggest looser DVD. They just came out with the second one.

I really like the Leslie Sansone videos. She has a bunch of different ones for variety.

We can't afford a gym membership with child care. I have been either walking/biking outside when it was warmer or doing dvds. I love having control to pause it if the kids need me. Sometimes it is challenging to keep them occupied, but I try to exercise when the hubby is here to help. The baby, who is actually 16 months old, has pretty much grown up with me exercising so she is used to it. I figure it helps with my agility to jump out of the way if she starts climbing on my step with me. The four year old likes to be the teacher. I let her "instruct" me after I finish a tape. Good luck!

For me when I don’t feel like going out to the gym or when I simply don’t feel like going out anywhere but I still want to get some exercising in I just put on the radio or a CD and get the kids to dance with me.

Right now I live in an apartment complex, but when I use to have a house with a yard I would also just turn on the sprinklers and run around with the kids under the sprinklers as well.

I loved going to the gym before I had kids. With full time job I don't have the time to drive there and exercise.

I'm new to sparkpeople. Any ideas to keep moving at home & being motivated ?
