Well Melissa, what you said sounds good to me.
If she is bring home convenience foods because they are convenient, your preparing food should be even more convenient. Be patient with her and with yourself. I have been on diets with my mother-in-law. She quits, then I change plans. This is the first plan I have been on without her. Invite your mother to join and leave it up to her.

Hi
I would make dinner and offer her some. Or let her know that you would be cooking that nite so she wouldnt have to bring something home. And I would keep doing what you need to do to lose the weight, and when she see that you are being sucessful she will join you. That is how it was with my sister and I. Good luck.

I moved back in with my Mom in August after seperating from my husband... She's been a saint, never asking for any money for bills or complaining when I come home late and wake up the dogs... But we have one major problem, we're both snackers! Of the worst kind... we both reach for chips, ice cream, sweets, etc. even sometimes instead of a real meal.

We have tried dieting together recently and failed miserably because as soon as one of us went off the diet, we were both off... So last night when I got home from "healthy shopping" she asked if this meant we were back on the diet, my only response was that *I* was changing the things I was eating and that she could do it too if she'd like but I don't want to call it a diet or lean on each other too much because it hasn't worked in the past.

How can I make it clear that I don't want to diet *with* her but that I'll be there to support any lifestyle changes she makes?

And how can I get her to eat healthier meals with me instead of bringing home convenience foods??

I know this is probably the opposite problem most people have but any input would be helpful!

Thanks!
