Hi Brynnae,

Being a mother myself, I can't even begin to imagine the what-if's that may be zooming through your head. I will be praying for your son and your family that you hear the words "everything is ok". Please keep us posted as I am sure there are other parents out there who may be dealing with this very same thing.

My 2 boys don't have this problem, but my close friend her oldest who is now 9 does he was born 6 weeks too early, and at 3 he started to gain all the weight he had been missing and MORE!!!! As the years have gone by thought he is now starting to maintain his weight and get taller so it is slowley, starting to even out. All the best and I hope that this sorta gave you hope of nothing too serious.

Yikes! Any time to you have to take your child to a specialist it's scary. Good luck in finding out a cause soon.

My son is 5 and weighs 85 lbs, he didnt start gaining weight until is was almost 3, so in a little over 2 years he has gained 45 lbs. We monitor his diet, he gets plenty of exercise, has tested negative for diabetes but can't find cause for rapid weight gain. We have him set up for a consult with ped. endo. I am a little scared. I pray that he has nothing serious and that he will stop gaining weight. Realistically what other types of diseases are there out there a 5 year old boy could have? I am hoping someone has a similar experience because I am so scared for him.
