When you say puree, can you use a blender to do that or do you need a fancy tool? (I am a novice cook...)

If your daughter likes spaghetti, spaghetti sauce is really easy to "hide" veggies in. Just puree them and mix in. Chili is as well, but that isn't as kid-friendly.

Okay, I am convinced now that if you hide veggies in stuff the kids will never know! I made Green Pea Soup yesterday (it was bright green!) and I was thinking there is no way my 6 yo dd is going to eat this. It had a large onion in it (she thinks she doesn't like onions) and it was sooo green. Did I mention that it was put through the blender? Anyway, she looked at it and said NO WAY! But the rule in our house is you have to at least try it. I told her you love peas so you might even like it. She ate two helpings! I'm am going to keep hiding the veggies! Here's the recipe...
PS. I have a recipe for Mac and Cheese that hides squash in it, that's next for us!
Green Pea Soup 1 teaspoon olive oil 1 large onion, sliced (about 1 1/2 cups) 2 1/2 cups low-sodium chicken broth 3/4 teaspoon dried tarragon 1/2 teaspoon salt Freshly ground black pepper 1 (10-oz) bag frozen peas 4 teaspoons plain nonfat yogurt, optional
In a large pot, heat the olive oil over moderately-low heat. Add the onion, cover and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the broth, tarragon, salt and a few turns of freshly ground black pepper and bring to a boil. Add the peas and cook just until defrosted. In a blender, puree the soup in 2 batches until very smooth. If serving hot, return the soup to the pot and bring just to a simmer. If serving cold, transfer to the refrigerator to chill. Ladle into bowls. Stir the yogurt so that it is smooth and top each serving with a swirl of yogurt.
