Hey ladies,
I am new on the message board front, but my story is very similar to many of yours. I have been married for 16 years and wanted to get pregnant right away, I was diagnosed with pcos and was put on Clomid. I got pregnant on the first course of treatment but then at 10 weeks I had an ectopic pregnancy that ruptured and I nearly died. We didn't give up trying though, I went through more testing and then was put on another medication for diabetics (can't remember the name of it). I started having heavy bleeding and then my doctor thought I had a miscarriage. Then, we had a hysterosalpingogram which is where they check your tubes to see if they are opened. The fertility specialist who did the exam said that my fallopian tubes were opened but they were adhered to the walls of my abdomen and they were pointed up and not towards the ovaries. He said this was caused from the ectopic pregnancy when I hemorrhaged and that the blood was absorbed into the abdomen causing adhesions. He said it would be impossible for me to conceive with my tubes in that shape. He said laser treatment may help but he could never guarantee a successful pregnancy. We gave up and started doing foster care. We adopted three children. When we had our boys finally in kindergarten I decided to make some changes in my life. I went on a diet and started exercising regularly. I lost 49 pounds and for my 44th birthday I found out I was pregnant! No fertility doctors, no drugs, no taking my temperature, no surgery, nothing but a good old fashioned roll in the hay! My beautiful, perfect baby boy is now going on 3 years old and is the joy of our lives! So, no matter what - believe that with God - All Things Are Possible! Good luck to you all and never give up!

Hi,

I was diagnosed with pcos also last June. Doctor precribed time released Metformin 1500 mg and south beach Diet. I was on metformin 1500 mg (not time released) from another doctor since January 2007. I have a son going to be 3 in december. And have had 2 miscarriage ever since. The second miscarriage ended with a D&C procedure. Happened in April last year. I have been getting false pregnancy sympthom for the past cycles. And I notice that everytime when my husband and I have sex on the peak of my ovulation, I will have cramp and stomach discomfort - sometimes nausea, heartburn, frequent urination about a week before my period comes (31 days cycle). The first cycle when that happened I thought i was having urinary tract infection. Last month the same thing happened, I thought i was pregnant. Got disappointed when my period came right on time - very cloggy flow. Thinking it was another miscarriage, I did a pregnancy test which came out negetive. This month, I am feeling the same thing again - cramp and stomach discomfort since last thurday. And my period is due on the 15th. I am so discouraged - I have decided to stop metformin.

I wish everyone the best who are trying to conceive. I just quickly scanned some of the messages post. Don’t give up hope ladies. It took my husband and me 4 yrs to conceive. I have PCOS. It’s no picnic. We tried Glucophage, Clomid and HCG shots (all to the max. dosages on everything). Then our doctor suggested IVF. By then I had lost some weight. We got pregnant on our first cycle of IVF. If you want to know more about it, I’d be happy to share our experience. Our son has been such a joy, we are going to try again (hopefully naturally this time…I’m trying to lose some weight right now to increase our chances!) Keep your fingers crossed for us!

Escobedo- I wish you the very best.

I too have PCOS, and I have a 2yr old daughter that was conceived while on Metformin 1500mg a day. Have you been to an RE? If so, see if they will prescribe you some Metformin.

Hello ladies. I am kind of new here. My husband and I have been ttc for about 2 years. I have pcos and have been on Provera, Glucophage and Clomid. I am trying to shed about 20 pounds. I doubt that it will help, but it will definitely not hurt me.. lol

My doctor said that losing some weight would help.. but, my question is.. if that is the case, why didn't I become pregnant when I weighed 115 lbs?? Oh well.. I guess we can't have an answer for everything.. =)

I hope everyone is doing well!

Hello all, I was told 2.5 years ago I have PCOS. I know what it's like to take the pg tests every month and have it come up neg. and turning around having the symptoms and it still says no. I deal with PCOS, endometriosis outside uterus as well as inside and had polyps removed. I've been at this for over 5 years. Doctors have pretty much told me that it's not going to happen. We still keep trying even during the hard times. What can I say we are stubborn people lol. Just continue to live a life to support being pregnant with eating, excerise and never give up hope.

First off, I want to start by saying sorry for posting the previous comment like 3 times. Oops!

And it's okay, my husband and I have been doing our research on adopting children. However, we don't want to spend thousand of dollars. We want to help a child and provide it in a loving enviroment. Not a enviroment where the parents consintely work in order to pay the loan they took out. I can see us adopting in about 2yrs. But I'm always wanting for a miracle. We have a Golden Retriever thats are baby for now.

Krista, I'm sorry to hear that you wont be able to get pregnant. But there are many other options. Not being able to have children is something I think about constantly. Every time I have any kinds of test done, even unrelated, I'm afraid some doctor is going to come in and tell me that I wont be able to have children. But my husband says that if we havent had any children by the time we are 30, that he wants to adopt. Right now our only child is our 11 month old German Shepard.

I have pcos too and really want to get pregnant. But for me I know it's impossible. Because my husband is sterile. I hope for your sake you are pregnant. Wouldn't that just be the greatest thing. Best of Luck.

I've been feeling really dizzy for two weeks now. I get nauseous, I get head aches, last week I went to a pizza parlor (my favorite, pizza) and the smell of it got me sick, my husband had to get me out of there. All of a sudden I started getting acne, I never got acne, not even as a teen. I get constipated for a few days then suddenly I get diarreah. I had a D&C (my uterus scraped because it had a very thick lining) the third week of july, then I was on birth control for one month (Dr.'s orders) but of course I would forget some days to take the pill because I wasnt used to it. I think I'm pregnant, but I'm afraid that I'm creating all f these symptoms in my head because I WANT TO BE PREGNANT. The dr. diagnosed me wit pcos in July. Has anyone been through anything similar? Is it possible that I may be pregnant? I dont know what to do. I want to see my doctor but I'm afraid its too soon and they wont be able to detect whether I'm pregnant or not. Honestly, I think I'm more afraid of them just saying that I'm not pregnant. I need help!!!
