I think that you should talk to his pediatrician if you're concerned. I think setting a good example by serving healthy choices at mealtime and for snacks, and encouraging activity- like playing outside instead of watching tv, etc.- is the best way to make sure your kids stay healthy. Lots of kids are going to go through those periods where they gain some weight in preparation for a growth spurt, so maybe that's what's going on. I don't think kids shouldn't be put on a "diet", but rather giving healthy options is the best way to go.
Hope that helps,

OK, so I've been dieting and exercising since March and I was hoping it would set a better example for my kids, especially my son.
He's 13 and weighs 160lbs and is about 5'7". He eats alot for a kid, I think.
Should I start monitoring what he eats or set limits?
I just really don't want him going down a bad road.
