I was a SAHM for 7 years and now, I'm single and in college, again. I only attend class 2 days/week, so I still consider myself a somewhat SAHM. I only leave them for about 4 hours/week. I actually like this situation. I think it's much better than when I first left my ex and was working 20-30 hours/week. Getting the kids to daycare and school and then going to work was very draining. I like our situation right now just fine! And, now that my youngest is out of daycare, she's doing much better emotionally.

Hi!
I have a 5 month old. I work full time and my mom also watches my son. I am also grateful.

I stayed at home when my first two were babies. It was nice but the only adult interaction I got was from my parents who lived next door and my kids' dad. I went back to work 2 months after my youngest was born.Thank goodness I lived close to family who didn't work. My extended family watched them while their dad and I worked until we got opposite shifts. Then we each had time alone with them. Now they are all half grown. We are divorced now but share custody. We both work during the day and are home before the kids at both places on most days.

I'm currently at home (although I sell on line), so I am quite busy during the day.

My youngest starts School next week, so I'll be looking to go back to work around November once she's settle in, just part time though (2 days a week) will be fine.

For me it is important to be around home, but with the kids all at School - I find part time work is a great balance.

After being on mat leave for a year with my first, I was looked forward to being back at work to have some adult time. I found that going to work was my vacation from true responsibility. With my second, I'm heading back to work after 8 months and still thinking the same way.

A big hurdle to get over is finding a person to look after your children that you truly trust. I think that helps the transition as well.

Right now I am on Maternity Leave, but I am going to be returning to work shortly after a year off. I have mixed feelings about it. I really do not want to have to leave my baby!! I'm pretty sure that he will be my last baby (my first is starting school next month!!) so I want to spend all the time I can with him.
On the other hand...It will be nice to have some adult interaction again without children being around.
I don't know what the answer is....there are pros and cons to each situation.
