I think my kiddos are finally getting the hang of eating better over here...with the exception of one that has to follow a different diet for other reasons...so cool to see them finally 'click in' with a healthy program here ;)

I have 4 boys. 9, 8, 5, and three. So I feel you when you say that you have a hard time making healthy food. I have picky eaters. My 2 oldest don't conplain anymore they know they either eat what I make for my husband and I or they eat Mac and cheese. So I'm sure you know that that did't fly for very long. they learned to eat with us. the two little ones I still make mac and cheese but I cut up chicken and raw carrots and fat free ranch dip for them on most days when I know they wont eat what I cook. I don't give them a choice anymore on what they want. If I really don't feel like cooking them it becomes a free day for the kids and they have to make something for themselves and thier little brothers but they can make anything they want within reason.

Congratulations on the upcoming birth of your first grandchild there :) That garden sounds great, both for exercise and the fresh foods too.....I'd love to be able to put in a garden here and let the kids really grow some things but for now we're limited in space here....hoping that we might get at least a small patch of something planted though :)

I just completed a voluntary exercise/education program offered at my wokr. I lost 1.5 inches off my waste adn improved my resting and aerobic heart rates. I have 3 kids at home, have bought some home exercise equipment and with some grumbling the kids 12 to 18 are working out some with me. I like the Leslie Sansone tapes and just bought some basic yoga stuff. I can't imagine doing that stuff, but want to vary my exercise routine a bit

Hi there. I have 4 children ages 14, 9, 6, and 3. Three girls and one boy, poor guy. My oldest is a great eater. One of my other kids is an alright eater, and the other two are the pickiest eaters ever. It is so hard so feed everyone healthy right now but i am trying my best. We are so busy as a family that i have bad habits of eating out, or feeding my kids and not feeding myself. I am working hard at drinking more water and eating better. Unfortunately my hubby can eat all he wants and not really gain much, so we do have alot of tempting food in the house. And i also agree on the cost of healthy foods, kinda makes it difficult to eat healthy, especially when you are on a tight budget like we are.

I have four of my children here with me and our little Angel in Heaven watching over us all....the ones here with me are: boy Kody 10years old, girl Kelsey 9years old, boy AJ 6 years old and girl B 3 years old our little Angel in Heaven is B's twin passed in utero.............

Currently I'm staying home caring for our kiddos here...working on getting to a healthier lifestyle over here for the kiddos and myself through watching our nutrition and exercise. We've decided the extra costs of the more nutritious foods outweighs the aspects of the unhealthy ones on us....I'd rather pay the extra few dollars, really it's less than fifty dollars a week extra, to know that our children are learning and developing healthy choices that will last their lifetimes versus them having to deal with their own health battles more so later in life because I never taught them healthy habits when they were young....my children each already have their own sets of health issues and since we've started watching their nutrition even closer seems that we haven't had alot of the 'bad' issues recently..could be a coincidence but so far so good at any rate they are learning something good and I am too :) At this point in learning I'm focusing on learning still more than actually loosing the weight I so need to loose here I decided it makes more sense to learn as much I can and get a good plan in place here than to just jump in and fall on my face waiting for the numbers to go down on my scale...this way I see progress in the matter that we are making healthier choices and paying attention to what we are eating and exercising more than just sitting with TV or whatnot here......

I have 4 boys, 17 1/2, one almost 15, 12 and 11.
they eat a ton and never seem to get full
it is way more expensive to eat healthy.
we are always short on time it seems so we eat out a lot and I will buy stuff already cooked in the frozen department which can't be that good for you.

I have 5 children, 3 adopted through foster care and 2 bio. We eat out cause it is a quick way to feed them between after school activities and work. I am trying to have healthier snacks but the kids are refusing to eat carrots, celery etc. They'd rather go to my x's than be forced to eat raw vegtables:)

I have 5 children. 4 girls ages 9 1/2, 8, and 5. 1 boy age 3. I, personally, do not find it hard to eat well with as many kids as I have. 4-6 weeks ago, it was a different story. I had to learn that I wasn't obligated to finish their meal. I love to cook and make a few things from scratch! Maybe that's one reason I don't have a hard time eating well, IDK. Now if only I could get rid of my pepperoni/cheese/cracker crutch I'll be alright!

I have 5 kids- 4 girls, 8,4,2,1 & 1 boy 7. I'm horrible about thrying to help my kids not waste offd by finishing up everything on their plates as well as everything on mine. Hy dh is a junk food addict- luckily he doesn't try to encourage me to eat it, so no matter how healthy I try to shop, there is always some kind of junk in the house. I seem to do better when I drink enough water to fill a swimming pool (ok,maybe I exaggerate a little bit LOL) I also try to stay busy during meals, eat and then go work on one of my sewing projects (or post on SP) or I read to the family while they finish up eating. When my dh is late night snacking I try to have something for me to snack on like mangos yum yum. It seems to be helping me some.
I agree with the whole good food is too expensive. It's hard when you are on a tight budget for a large family and want to eat healthy.

I really don't understand WHY it's more expensive. We are always being told how "fat" america is getting, well, why not help by making things so high priced...

Makes no sense to me.

We do our best though, thats all we can do!!

We have 4 3 boys 17,14,and11 and 1 girl 8.It is very hard to get everyone eating right and healthy. It is way more expensive to eat that way.I could feed us so much cheaper eating bad unhealthy things.I get them baby carrots and apples for snack and low fat/calorie juice pops.We drink mostly water I don't buy soda or juice very often.

I have 4 kids also. Mine are ages 6 1/2, 5, 2 3/4 and 5 months. I don't like to cook and by the time my husband gets home he doesn't feel like cooking. We eat out a lot 3-4 times a week. Not every week but close to it.

I am a stay at home mom. I already have to do 2 meals for 4 of us every day. I usually do not let junk food in the house. I do buy food that is not the greatest for us. Most of our meals are out of a box. I try to keep them healthy more then myself.

I am a very picky eater and I don't want that for my kids.

I have four children and the biggest lesson I have learned is I don't like going out to eat with them. Well I do but I end up ordering something I shouldn't. If I do order something I should than I end up eating and nibbling at there left overs which can be fatting at time. They have learned to eat what I cook. Though my four year old still sticks up her nose at most of it.

Funny I was just coming here to ask a similar question...we have 4 kids three of them growing boys.

Since I just started this program over a week ago...I went to the store last weekend and took my grocery list with me...bought what I needed and added extra for my family. However WHY does healthy food have to be so expensive!

Hello ladies!!

Just wondering if there are any moms with more out there.

Do you find it hard to eat well with so many kids?

I try so hard to buy and make healthy food, but sometimes the day gets away from me and we eat out/or something not so healthy.
