| I volunteer for early learning and literacy. I have challenged the students I work with to not watch tv for one hour and read to a younger child instead. Since children who are read to are about twice as successful in school, and older children need to feel valuable,I found this to be a terrific solution! (It also doesn't hurt that it helps the parents out too!)

| Two days this week, we only had the radio on ... ALL DAY! God it was like Heaven, since I prefer the radio, but I am the only one in the house that does. But it was great ... and both times, my DAUGHTER was the one asking for music! YAY! The most TV that we have watched lately has been my exercise videos!

| Way to go JOTRKMOMMY! All it is going to take is for us to step up and set a better example and you definately are! Keep it up. My challenge is getting my husband to relize that the time he spends with the kids should not be spent in front of the TV! Wish me luck.

| Sounds like it is working beautifully for you. My daughter is two though, so I don't know if she would understand that. But I did make a new rule yesterday ... we don't turn on the TV in the morning unless the house is cleaned. While I do my kitchen and stuff, she is to pick up her toys and take them to her room. Then I turn on the TV and while she watched one show, I clean her room. After that ... I may let her watch another, or two more ... and then we will go to the radio, because she will get up and play again. The same rule system will apply after her afternoon nap ... And that will stil be a lot, but it will be toning down a lot too. I hope to teach her to prefer the radio, because she plays more when it is on. She used to play with the TV on too, but lately she just lays in the floor or on the couch to watch TV, and I hate that. I am going to nip it in the bud ...

| My kids are tv junkies and i am trying to break that habit with a points system. They do chores and treat others nicely etc. to earn points then use those points to buy tv and computer time. I started this challenge because I wanted to get my husband and kids involved. Yesterday while my hubby did yard work, the kids and I rode bikes to my son's Tae Kwon Do class, I played with my daughter while he worked out. so even though it wasn't together, at least we weren't in front of the TV.

| TV? What's that! I am blessed with kids that have very little interest in the TV, they maybe watch an hour a WEEK of TV! YAY

Heres to all the parents out there who let thier kids watch too much tv so they canhave some me time. Get out thier and play with your kids 1 hour burns 444 calories according to SP so it will benifit you and your kids. And who doesn't like being a kid again, who cares what others think get out there and spend some quality time with your kids and teach them what that healthy living can be fun! Oh yeah, include your spouse too, they will also benefit and the kids will love having both of you there!
