I come to this board and there have been no posts in a while. Glad to see people are posting. I am here and survived the holidays by not cooking the normal soul food that my family celebrate with. This year my husband and I kept it low key and just made a regular meal. I didn't overindulge in the treats that were around the office as I normally would and that was awesome because I love sweets. Hubby and I are still TTC but we are slowing it down because I am getting into working out and would love to lose 20 more pounds to the 13 I have lost in the last 2 months.
I am amazed reading posts from women whose doctors have discouraged them from trying to conceive at certain weights. Our newest member is about 60 pounds smaller than me when I got pregnant and I didn't get any flack from my doctors. I knew I was already overweight so I made a conscious decision to only put on 15 to 20 pounds during the pregancy.
I am making a conscious decision to try to take off 20 more pounds because it can be tiresome to carry your weight plus baby. At least it was for me because I wasn't very active due to a crazy work schedule and not making time for myself. Now I put me first and living is a priority so I choose to be more active and take weight off. I really wish I could lose about 35 to 50 pounds before getting pregnant. I am working out now and if it takes us a few months then that is even better because I will be in better physical health. My doctors are excited that I have low blood sugars, cholesterol and blood pressure being this heavy. Now I am trying to take the weight off to make the weight go with the blood work. I hope we can make this board active again.
Take care and I will be checking and posting again.
Lynette

Welcome!! I had totally forgotten about this board until you posted. How is everyone doing on their weight loss? I was doing really well until the holiday. I ended gaining back almost 5 pounds. I'm starting over in the New Year though. Our base gym is doing it's own biggest loser contest which I signed up for last night. The 1st place prize is $500!! We probably won't be TTC anytime soon. My DH is going to be gone for 6 weeks in Feb and March. I'm hoping to start sometime this summer. Kerina

| Hello everybody, my name is Angie. My husband and I are wanting to TTC our first, however I am very concerned about my weight due to family history. I joined SP several months ago but was met a major medical set back in Novemeber. I was unable to exercise for a month and my first day back to the gym, I broke my ankle. Doctors have been very negative to me about wanting a baby at my current weight despite many attempts over the last three years at losing it. I've just changed doctors and hope for more positive feedback and advice. I have enjoyed reading your posts and look forward to the postive, motivational vibes. Happy New Year to you all and best of luck in each of your weight-loss journeys.

I really miss the Biggest Loser. I always watched it when we lived in the states. Now that we are overseas we don't get very many american channels. Sometimes they show the reality shows when they are over in the states. I'm hoping the biggest loser is one of them. My family and some friends went hiking in the mountains yesterday. It was so much fun but am really sore today. We put my 2 year old daughter in a backpack and my DH carried her the whole way. She was so cute sitting in it. My 3 year old son did really great at hiking but we did have to carry him some of the way. Needless to say, they both slept great last night. Kerina

Hey ladies, I too get the munchies, but usually I assoc it w/ something emotional...like bad day at work/refing, argument w/ dh...that kind of thing. We don't have too many bad munchie things right now, and thought that the crackers we had were okay, but only in small doses! :) It's funny, I bake cookies for my basketball team every Sun, and have no desire to eat them! I'll try one the day I bake them, but after that I don't eat them at all! Weird. Hope everyone is doing well and talk to you all soon, M

Milmom, I was looking around at some other message boards last night and there was one that was talking about late night munching. Someone suggested instead of eating at night in front of the TV, they brush their teeth and lay in bed to read a book. This way they don't want to get up and eat anything and they sleep better after reading a book than after watching TV. Maybe you could try that. I haven't tried it because my kids are too little for me to be able to go to bed until after they are in bed. All my munchie cravings happen right after supper. Keep workin. You can do it. Kerina

Hello ladies! Glad to hear that you are all doing well. I was reading lower about the pill and how long it is supposed to take to get pregnant. Wow, I wish I was like that. I am one of those who has to be on the pill to get pregnant. Weird huh? I've been pregnant 5 times now and only have 2 children. But all 5 pregnancies began either the 2 weeks after I stopped my pill or while on it! Funny!
Munchies are so crappy! I hate them! I do so well all day long and feel great about how I did and then .... BAM .... they hit me at night. And once I"m on the couch after my day, which generally starts around 5:30 or so, I'm done! It is hard to get me moving unless I'm headed to the bed! URRRGHGHGH Why is it so hard to stay focused on losing the weight but SO EASY to just eat and shove that food in! URGH
God bless you all and I pray that you are all having a wonderful week so far! Nikki Lynn

Did someone say munchies???
Hi ladies. Just wanted to say hi. I am one of those that seem to get the munchie bugs when I get home from work. The only things in my house to snack on besides fruit and raw veggies would be graham crackers and teddy graham crackers for my daughter. I do get a serious craving for anything chocolate in the afternoon at work and I will run out to get it. This is the first week that I am keeping snacking to healthy foods only. I keep a box of Honey Nut Cheerios at work and can have a serving of that and 16 oz of water to drink if I leave my fruit at home. I got used to eating what I wanted when I was breastfeeding because the weight came off so easy. It wasn't until 4 months post breastfeeding that I realized that I gained almost 20 pounds!!!! Now I am trying to track my food daily and my food intake at 1500 calories per day is killing me. I used to cringe because I couldn't eat that much but now I am actually watching every little morsel because I see how overeating or adding one or two fatty snacks a day can help pack on the calories which of course packs on the weight. This is hard but it is something that I need to do and I am glad that you all are here because it helps to just read from you all on a daily basis even if I don't post anything. Wishing you all the best. Sending tons of baby dust out there. Hubby and I decided to try for baby number two RIGHT NOW. Even if I am this size I want to try to get pregnant and keep working out even while pregnant.

hey everyone, My DH & I try to not have any "bad" food in our house, except for when there is something going on...like a party, and even then we try to keep it to a minimum. Tonight the basketball team I coach is having a Pampered Chef fundraiser at my house, and the only "bad" things I have a taco chips, a cheese ball (yum) and dessert. But I will restrain myself for eating too much of any of it! Workoutfriend, it's hard not to get discouraged...I haven't lost ANYTHING in the last while, and I've been eating healthy, exercising and everything! Sometimes you plateau and just need to do something new to get things rolling again. Try some new activity that you haven't done b/f or in a while and it'll help...You can do it!! Happy Monday everyone, talk to you soon.

Workoutfriend, You can do this!! My Dh made me go through the whole house and get rid of bad food. We replaced it with good food. That way now whenever I get the munchies and want a snack, I don't have a choice, I have to eat something healthy or nothing at all. It has really helped me to not have the temptation around. I like to fill the fridge with fresh fruit like pineapple and cantalope. Those are my faves. We can do this. Kerina

Good luck Gabbyfaith!! I hope everything goes well and easy for you. I know they say it takes a couple months for birth control to wear off but that's not always true. My dr. told me when I went off my pill the first time that it would take at least 6 weeks before I could get pregnant. At my 6 week mark I was so sick from morning sickness. I had gotten pregnant right away. I am not on the pill any more either but we are not trying yet. I just went off of it because I have always gained weight on the pill. Since I wanted to lose weight I decided to try it without the pill to see if I would lose faster. I hope to hear some happy news from you soon. Kerina

Oh Yea! Munchies all the time! I'm going through that right now. I do GREAT all day long and then when I get home at night, I just eat and eat and eat. I'm due on Monday. URGHHHHH It is so hard to lose it! And it is even harder to fight that MUNCHIE MONSTER! I heard something on K-Love yesterday that said if you sit in dim light, it will cause you to eat more and munch more. Hummmmm..... my livingroom is sort of dim!
Hope you are all having a great Friday too!

Does anyone NOT get the munchies b/f? I know that I do badly, where I could (but don't) eat pretty much EVERYTHING in sight! It's hard, last week, I'm pretty sure I could have eaten so much more, but made a HUGE effort to watch...plus I was late and thinking maybe I was pg. But no, just late. Happy Friday everyone, and hope you all have a good wkend!

I do the same thing. I am thinking in the back of my mind, I'm probably already pregnant so I might as well eat what I want. It's so bad. You always weigh more during that time of the month anyways and eating junk doesn't help. I gained 3 pounds this last time my friend visited and I'm still fighting to get it back off. It also doesn't help that during that time I crave chocolate like you wouldn't believe. That's the only time my DH will let me have chocolate without him complaining or asking me if I really need it. He knows my answer will be yes, I really need it!! Kerina

Hi everyone. I am pretty new to SP and I am navigating and found this message board. I am overweight and actually gained 15 pounds after getting married. I was exactly 266 pounds when I got pregnant 5 months after getting married. I watched what I ate and only gained 18 pounds. The doctors say that 15 to 20 pounds for an overweight person. I just wanted to make sure my weight didn't spiral out of control because most of my thin friends gained 50 or more pounds and I couldn't handle that emotionally. I didn't have a problem getting pregnant and had a very healthy pregnancy. Now we are trying for baby number two and I actually gained 20 pounds after I stopped breastfeeding. The good news is that I lost the pregnancy pounds within two weeks of giving birth. I have lost 7 pounds and would like to lose another 15 before getting pregnant again so I joined this message board. I wish you all the luck in getting pregnant for the first time or for the second, third or fourth time. Best wishes.

| I think it depends on how healthy you are more than how much you weigh. I am 5'4" and was just over 200 pounds when I concieved my son. I had started a healthy eating program about 3 months before and I think that definatly made a difference. I think that as long as you are following this program that you will be healthy enough and have few if any problems. I would definatly suggest getting on a doctor prescribed prenatal vitamin at least 1 if not 3 months ahead of time to be sure your getting the vitamins you need especially folic acid. Amber

Hope everyone is doing alright this week. I was having a good week...until yesterday. It was my stepmom's bday, but at least the dessert was low fat (b/c I made it!) Knousewife, I think you and your DH have got a good handle on things. Losing some weight as incentive isn't a bad idea either; whether you're doing it to concieve or save cash (as I've seen someone post!) or whatever. And as my mom always said (she's 1 of 10), you always find a way to provide for the family you love! Take care! M

I was an aunt when I was in elementary school over 15 years ago! Well, my dh and I are ttc for our first, with consistantcy, fun and lols we have finally decided that it would be benificial if I lose 45 lbs (goal) and within that time of losing say 20 lbs start fertility treatments, if it does not happen naturally. We have waited for over 4 years for our blessing. God will provide in His timing, but even still, I have to remind myself that if I had a child right now, I would be in a heap of trouble trying to carry all the way without complications. I am beginning to not eat fried foods and soda. I know it is a slow process to change, but I am doing this for the benifit of my future health, children and well being. I know that ultimately, it is all our goals to be fit before getting pregnant. I am needing daily feedback to encourage me that I am not the only one facing the giant in this world childless and wanting to have a child of my own. I am adopted and so that is a huge reason in why we want a bio child. God Bless and Good luck to us all.

That's pretty funny. You are very young to be a grandma. My dad always says its way more fun to be a grandparent than to be a parent so you did it the right way. So when you have a baby, your grandchild will be older than her aunt or uncle. That will be neat. Kerina

Welcome Anne!! I think you will really like this group. Hope you find the encouragement you need here. My DH and I are planning on starting TTC in April. It all depends on if I lose the weight or not. We have 2 children already and my DH doesn't really want any more, but he said if I put forth the effort and lose all this weight, he will agree to one more. What a reward, huh? That is good enough motivation for me!! Good luck and welcome again. Kerina

Hello everyone. :) I just joined this discussion- cause I can definitely use some help and motivation- not to mention people to talk to! My husband and I just celebrated our first wedding anniversary this past October 8. We're talking about TTC starting this coming March (the timing has a lot to do with when he finishes his nursing program)- and I really want to get myself into better shape before then!
I'm just having some trouble actually getting going... I've been a member of Spark since January- but I know I haven't utilized the tools here to their full capacity. Must work on that.
I'm looking forward to getting to know many of you. :)

Hey everyone, I was late (like 1-1/2 wks) 2 months ago and was positive I was pg. Then I finally decided to take a test and nope. Then I went for my physical about 2 wks ago and my dr said I was healthy and ready to go....strange. I also didn't think I could get pg so quickly, but it's hard not to get your hopes up. Even my DH was a little excited waiting for the results...I took it early am (like 5:30) and he got up even though he doesn't normally get up until 7 am! LOL Hope everyone is doing alright, M

Hello everyone!
Kerina: Yes, working out and doing things that you don't normally do can definitely change your cycle. I just went through this also. I was a week late!!!!! I was like you and very disappointed after the hospital called and gave me my negitive results too. If after a week though, you still don't get it, call your doctor and make sure you are alright. I was a complete week late with mine and my iron has gotten really low. I'm planning on calling the doctor today for a complete physical! It can't hurt anyway!
This weekend has been really hard for me. I have munched and munched all weekend long. I even had cake and ice cream! URGH I had been doing so well for the past 2 weeks and then I mess up. But I'm going to try and focus on my eating and working out again. I have too! I'm leaving Wednesday night for Washington and I need to remember to keep eating right while I'm on this trip. Please pray for me that I will be able to do good and make WISE decisions about eating and walking.
God bless, Nikki Lynn

I kind of had a downer today. I am usually really regular with my periods but I am now 2 days late. I took a pregnancy test tonight but it came back negative. My DH and I are not trying to get pregnant yet (I need to lose the weight first) so I wasn't really expecting the test to come back positive. But it still got my hopes up a little. And now I'm wondering why I'm late since I've always been really regular. Can dieting affect that? Talk to ya'all later. Kerina

Evening all....Doing pretty good so far...No baby yet. I am so frustrated right now. I have been really stressed out at work and I have not been eating very healthy. I want to eat junk because it calms my nerves but doesn't make me feel better. I am going to really work on the exercising this week. So far I am doing okay.
Thanks to all who offer great words of encouragement.
Have a great week everyone!

Hello GabbyFaith! Hello Kerina!
GabbyFaith: Oklahoma is good. I like it here so far. Right now, it is raining and kind of cool. I don't mind it much. It can get bitterly cold here though in the winter and I really don't know if I like that. If I could stay home all day, it might not be so bad! Heeee heeee
Kerina: Funny how some people are like that huh? I try really good to not get junk food but it is hard because I have a 12 year old son, Jack, in the house. I try not to make everyone in the house suffer. It isn't too hard to stay away from the crap he wants.
What I find hard is when you go and visit friends or family. I'm going on a trip this week to Washington to see my sister and she isn't on a diet like me. She doesn't watch what she eats. SO, the hard thing is going to know when I'm full and really stick to my guns about not eating more! I know that I will go over my calorie intake but I am really going to try hard not to put in more than 2200 a day!
Well, hope you are all having a great weekend! Birthday party today for us for a friend so it should be fun! And last night, we watched the UFC fights! We love them!
God bless, Nikki Lynn

I went grocery shopping off base last night with one of my friends who is also on a diet. We were just going to get fresh fruit. She ended up buying SO MUCH junk food, I couldn't believe she was on a diet. But it helped me be good and not buy anything bad. It was like her fix was good enough for me!! Hope ya'all have a good weekend. Kerina

Welcome Angel_Rose!
We are stationed in Lawton, but Altus is about 45 minutes from here. It is a nice little, and I stress, little town. THat is an air force base. We are army.
Things here are good. Last night was hard. I really had a very busy day and it didn't stop until about 11:45! Needless to say, I didn't make the best of choices yesterday and I even had a danish! URGH I am kicking myself this morning for it! So, I'm going to try again really hard not to do that. I don't think I went over 2000 calories but I probably got pretty close! So, today, I"m going to focus on working out and not snacking, since that tends to be my hard spot! How is everyone else doing?

Hey there! I'm Chantelle, am 22 years old and am from Australia so I don't get any snow, especially up here in Cairns! In fact, I've never even seen it! It's coming up to summer here, so my dream is to one day have a white christmas! I went through my first pregnancy obese, and am determined not to do it a second time. My baby boy Lucas (now 14 months) didn't have any complications, is a healthy boy, and DH & I love him to bits, so thankfully my weight didn't affect him. I want to have another baby soon, but I'm refusing to do it without losing weight first. I'm doing my Bachelor's in Business at university via correspondence part-time so I can stay at home with Lucas full-time. So I definitely wont have the time to concentrate on losing weight once I have another! Okay, well I just wanted to introduce myself, sorry it's such a long post!

Hello everyone, Our snow is pretty much gone, but our weather is terrible...very cold and windy. I'm trying hard not to let it deter me from going outside for walks. Thankfully I have Nugget to "make" me go, and b/c he's such a big doggie, we were gone for over an hour! It was ridiculous how cold and windy it was, AND how tired I was when we got back! For us, the weather only gets worse from here! LOL

Sounds like everyone is doing well so far this week! That is great to hear!
SNOW????? Oh my gosh! I love the snow and wish we had it but not here. We had 90 degree weather just last week. Today, the high was only 58 so we are finally into the cooler weather but it was hot last week. I even had on the air condition! URGH We are in Oklahoma and unfortunately the weather never really gets all that cold until about the end of December and then starts warming back up around the middle of February or beginning of March. Not much of a winter. Last year, we only got one little tiny dusting of snow and it was gone the same day. Unfortunately I didn't get to enjoy it because it was the day I had our daughter! But she was worth missing it!
I've done well today also. I did get to do aerobics this morning but after that, I didn't get to work out much. I wear a pedometer all day and I did get in almost 13,000 steps today! THat is a lot for me. I usually struggle to get 10,000. And I ate pretty good. I didn't really have time to eat much for breakfast or lunch today. So, my dinner was great. I even got to have a little brownie with a nice non-fat cafe` mocha for desert. I love a diet that will still let me have the things I love!
Hope you are all well and hope to talk with you all soon! Nikki Lynn

No snow here yet, Misawa, Japan, but it's cold enough for it. My DH said this morning when he went to work it was only 46 outside. I love the cold though. It's the best time to drink hot chocolate and snuggle up under a blanket, not that either of those things are going to help my diet!! I'm very proud of myself today though. Even though I had a fever last night and didn't feel good this morning, I still went on a walk with my kids. Now I just have to watch what I eat today. Kerina

Thanks for the advice. I hav been with spark since January and did really well until I went overseas and just lost the plot then when I got back I didnt want 2 diet as I want 2 get pg but now Im just gonna live my life and it should happen. I ate 1330 cals yesterday and went 2 the gym 4 an hour and worked 2 jobs so I htink it was a good day.. 2day I hope 2 finish on around 1200 and go to the gym for a while.
Have a great day Kate

Kate I agree w/ Nikki Lynn, check w/ the Nutrition message board b/f lowering you're caloric intake below 1200. I know that it's nice when you're losing faster; but it's also better to be safe! We had our first snow 2 days ago :( that hasn't melted! So Nugget (my black lab) & I went for a super long walk b/f my DH came home. So beautiful around here, even w/ the little bit of snow! take care everyone! M

Hello All! I too have been doing pretty good on our lifestyle change this week. Last night was alittle hard because of a church dinner but I did pretty good! I may have even stayed in my calorie range! Yippy! I was so proud of myself!
I'm not sure exactly, Kate, what the difference would be between 1100 and 1200. I think going under 1200 might be unhealthy though. That is definitely a question you might want to post on the Nutrition message board for the coachs!
Hope you are all doing well! I'm alittle sore today from a workout yesterday but I love that burn! I just means it is working! Yippy!
God bless and have a great day! Nikki Lynn

I am doing really good on my diet this week. I had a bad day on Tuesday so I've been making up for it the rest of the week. I really feel for you ladies who have been trying to get pregnant and having problems. I don't know if I would be able to handle that. With my son I quit taking the pill because we were going to start trying to get pregnant, the next month I was pregnant. Then after he was born I wasn't on the pill because I was breastfeeding. When he was 6 months old we did it once without a condom and I got pregnant again. I just went off the pill last month and I think I might already be pregnant. My breast have been really sore lately and I haven't been having any cramps. We'll see. I wish you all luck. Kerina

Hi every1 how r u all going with ur diets? I hav done really well the last few days and been exercsiing heaps. Does any1 know how much exercise is ok and how much is 2 much and can affect fertility. Ive been doing up to 1 hour per day and at least two of these days are weights. Sundays I might just do yoga or go 4 a walk. I agree with all of u about relaxing. I do hav 2 track ovulation as my cycles r all over the place and i am on clomid but I try not 2 think 2 much and just enjoy the journey. I used 2 worry about it and it did nothing good 4 me. I guess its such a miracle in itself that sometimes they take time but when we do get out little ones we will treasure them all the more.
Also does any1 know if between 1100 and 1200 calories is ok per day. Unfortunately from my tracking and experiences this year I only tend 2 loose wieght when I come in this range. Ijust hop it would affect getting pregnant or ovulating.
Sorry 4 such a long post. Hope ur all having fantastic healthy days.
Kate

Yeah Oklahoma! I'm also in Oklahoma! Yippy! We are located in Lawton. A little town but pretty nice all the same!
Anyway, hope you are all doing well. I also had that same thing happen as your friend down there. My hubby and I tried for almost 2 years and then about 1 week before our fertility appointment, I had to call and cancel because I got pregnant. But I had also lost 35 pounds in that 3 months. SO, my weight had alot to do with it also!

hello ladies, thought I'd stop by to see how everyone is doing. I've checked out babyfit.com but am unsure how it helps when you're TTC. My DH and I are trying, but we're also making it fun! We aren't completely rigid about when it's time, we just try to not think too much about TTC, but enjoy ea other. I have a GF who tried for a long time, then decided to get fertility treatments...so they both relaxed. Then a couple of days b/f they were to get their treatments, she got pregnant! So, my advice is for all of to relax a little, and enjoy our DH/BF!! :)

| That's exactly the range that we tell patients. Right around 30 lbs. (However, if you go over that, you should deal with that AFTER your pregnancy-- pregnant women should NOT attempt to lose weight unless under the specific direction and supervision of their physician.)

Hello everyone and welcome to all of the new faces! It is great to know that there are so many of us who are in the same boat and trying to get healthier before we have any or anymore children! With lots of determination and lots of motivation, WE CAN ALL DO IT! You all can lose the weight that you are setting your minds too! I am one of those people who really find that once you get VERY active on the site and log in at least once a day to check things and log things in, you CAN DO IT! That is how I lost the 35 pounds right before I became pregnant with my daughter. It takes lots of discipline to make sure you log in and use the site. I mean, really USE the site! If you truly get involved on the site, you are bound to lose the weight. I personally feel that the more I'm on the site, the better I feel about myself and the more I want to see my face again up there on the success stories! I love having all of my SP friends to chat with and I love that they can help motivate me when I'm feeling I need to munch on that chocolate bar over there.
As for the fertility situations, everyone is unique. We all have our stories and different situations to having children. I feel horrible for those who have lost little ones, whether you were 1 day pregnant or if you had a baby who was stillborn. I myself, have lost 3 babies over the years and hope to not have to experience that ever again. To all of you, please know that I pray for you and your healing over the loss. Like I said, even 1 day pregnant, it was a loss. No one understands what it is like to lose a baby except a mother. I understand.
God bless each of us! I pray God watches over us now and always and guides us to make the best decisions for our children and soon-to-be children. Always, Nikki Lynn

It sounds like being on a diet and TTC is ok so I think I will just do it the spark way and like you said LV not let it get in the way or stress me out. Otherwise I feel like Im in limbo just waiting 2 get pg but doing nothing about my weight. Plus it would b wonderful 2 hav great eatin gahbbits 2 pass on 2 my children.

Wow! I had no idea this many people were in the same boat as me! I just joined Spark for this exact reason. I've always struggled with my weight, but this is my highest ever. I turned 30 this year and hubby and I plan to TTC in 2007. I'm concerned that my weight will just make for a tough pregnency.
The good news is that I am so driven to start a family, I feel like I have the best motivation in the world! Wish me luck!

Thank you to whomever started this topic! There are many reasons for why I want to lose weight, but this is probably the most immediate. It's nice to know I'm not the only one. I have a son who just turned three in September. He is wonderful, but the labor was very difficult (three days -- two without drugs -- and then a C-section). Anyhow, as a result of that, my son has a disability. He's very high functioning by he has some issues in the Gross Motor Skills department. Anyway, since his birth, we've been so focused on keeping him fit -- stretches, exercises, etc., that I've TOTALLY neglected myself. I'm now about 45 lbs overweight. I'd like to be down at least another 20 before we get prego again and we're thinking of starting in the spring. Whew! I know I'll need more energy with two of them, and I want to be around and involved. So...to all of you current and future moms...WE CAN and WILL DO IT!! Thank you!

TKHAWK, My sister-in-law has the same condition. She has a 9 year old son and was told she would never be able to conceive again. She now has another son who will be 1 in Dec. There are treatments for the cysts. Unfortunately my SIL is too poor to be able to afford them. Losing weight is always a good idea for you and the baby, but there are many overweight women who conceive and have healthy babies. My BF just had her 1st baby in Aug. She has had juvenile diabetes for almost 10 years now. She had a healthy baby boy who only weighed 6 lbs. You can have a healthy pregnancy, you will just have to watch what you eat even more and remember exercise, exercise, exercise. I wish you all luck in your weight loss plans and also in having your own little blessings. Kerina

| Hi! I am in the same situation you are. I will be turning 30 on the 24th of this month, and I have been trying for over 1 year with my husband. Both him and I are overweight. I went to visit my gynecologist for my annual physical, and she observed that I had a dark ring around my neck and also under my arms and hair excessive hair growth (i.e. chin, neck and belly area). What my gynecologist wanted me to do was to get a sonogram done to see if I had this symptom called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. You can go and look up information about this syndrome on the internet. Well, I got the sonogram done, and I actually saw these cyst on my right ovaries. My uterus was fine and my left ovary was fine, but the right ovary had about 5 cyst on them. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is in a lot of women who do not know they have it. I have been having irregular periods, and this syndrome that I have is a major cause of me not having children. I can still have children, but I was told that I have to lose 60 lbs before I try to conceive. I also have a high insulin count which is one of the causes of this syndrome. I suggest that you get information about Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, and make a visit to your gynecologist. It's worth trying to find out this information so that you will know! I pray that things go well with you, but I tell you, you remind me so much of me and how much I want a child too. We can do it!

SEWSONEW: I, too, am so sorry for all of your losses. And I wish there was something I could say to help ease your pain. I will say that we are always here for you if you ever need to talk.
I also wanted to say Good For You for trying to lose the weight now and stay healthy for your daugther. Losing the weight will benefit the both of you. I am a yo-yo weight person. I have always been that way. I too am an emotional eater but I find that when I'm using SP, diligently, I find that I am not as bad as I am with the emotional eating. I really enjoy all of the portions of the site and continue to make sure I really USE them. Please don't give up hope and don't ever think that you CAN'T lose the weight. | I gained a ton with my first pregnancy from 137 to 200 lbs. Then lost a few pounds and got pregnant with twins (who sadly were stillborn) and I never really lost that weight. I'm an emotional eater. Then with my daughter I started at 190 and topped at 210, but dropped some weight after and more or less stayed around 170. I got down to 150 and got pregnant again and miscarried. I've had another miscarriage since then (this spring)and my blood sugars are up now. So this is my last attempt at getting the weight off.

Even though I didn't start this thread, it brings me such joy to see that so many of us are helping each other and bonding. This truly is the best place to be! Focusing on the weight loss is really the key to success for people like us. I know that I really have a hard time conceiving when I'm heavier. Plus, it is so much better for the baby if mommy is healthy first! I'm not sure if I have shared my weight story with my kids but I'm going to now. When I was 20, I got pregnany with my son when I weighed 154. That was REALLY skinny for me who is 5'9" and a large framed women. I gained 80 pounds with that pregnancy. I weighed 224 the day I delivered. With my daughter, I made better choices because of being a SparkPerson! I weighed 165 the day I conceived and around 218 when I had her. I could really feel the difference with this pregnancy. I was much healthier and I could feel it during the pregnancy.
My heart goes out to those of you who have been having a hard time conceiving. I know it is hard and stressful. I have been there too. Honestly, try taking the focus off of the conceiving and lose the weight first. It will help not only your confidence but also your marriage! Your love making will become better because you won't just be doing it to make a baby. It will be more because you love one another. That is what I noticed!
Hope you all have a great day! God bless and good luck on this journey, Nikki Lynn

Hi everyone I have been married for 3 years and everyone keeps asking when we plan on having children. The truth is, we havent been using any kind of birth control, but I think my weight is keeping me from conceiving. I have been overweight pretty much all my life, and none of the diets I have been on have been very successful. The most I have ever lost at one time is 40 lbs. I believe Sparkpeople is my last chance and my last hope to lose enough weight to be able to conceive and have a healthy pregnancy. I am panicking somewhat because I am 34 years old and I know the older I get, the harder it can be to conceive. I feel like if I dont lose weight now, I will miss my chance on ever having a baby. It's very depressing!

| I never knew so many people had the same goal as me! It is my dream to be a mother and have children, and I would also like to lose weight before I concieve. At this point, I may be a little premature because I don't have a significant other, but when it is time for me to start trying, I want my weight and health not to be a hurdle. Good luck to you and your husband as you continue on this adventure.
