I am in the same boat as the rest of you. TTC at 31 with pcos and overweight. Trying to lose the weight to help myself!

Glad to see that there are others. I know that there is a spark team for women with pcos and TTC - you might want to check it out.

As for those going to the DR. how did it turn out?

I'm so glad to find out I'm not the only one! My hubby and I haven't exactly been trying, but we're letting nature take it's course. I haven't been on any kind of birth control in the last 3 years. I had a miscarriage about 1 1/2 years ago. Around that time I began to have other health issues such as erratic periods and my iron was low so I may have just been unhealthy enough at the time to be pregnant. I didn't even know I was pregnant at the time. Anyway, so the point of my post is to say I'm glad I'm not the only person who's had troubles, and health problems like wonky periods! I'd always thought perhaps it was weight related. I have a daughter who's 6 and I feel terrible that there'll be such an age gap between them. I know she'd love to have somebody else around to play with, but it's too late to have a sibling to fulfill that need. She'd make a great big sister too.

Well this is day number 5 on my provera. I have never wanted my period to come so fast in my life. Usually when I take provera for the first 10 days of the month, I'll get my period around the 13th day!
I'm 26 and we have a 3 year old now. I just dont want too many years to go in between kids. I dont want him being 10 and we finally have another baby. I want him to be able to grow up with his sibling and have someone to play with all the time instead of just at daycare.

I've always had this goal that I wanted to be done with having kids by the time I was 30. I had planned this because I want to be able to be a young grandmother , you know around 50 ish. I imagine being able to run around after my grandkids at that age, not my own teenagers or preteens!

EXACTLY. If we have to go ahead and rule out natural conception then, we have other options to explore with our time. And those options take time too, I don't really want to be chasing toddlers when I'm 40. I wish the time wasn't an issue because it seems to add a little anxiety to the situation.

Good luck with the appointment.

Staceven- I know what you mean about wasting time. I too want to know if there is a possibility and I have been told yes that there is. I will try the IVF but if it does not work then we will adopt. Some people have to wait 10 years to adopt but I don't know if I want to be 40 when I start raising a child.

Good luck at that appointment. I'm with you on the investigating thing. My doc said be off the pill for at least a year before trying and then try for at least a year before we even talk about investigating. It's been 3 years of trying now. I have an appointment this month, and I hope she gives me a little more confidence. I feel like I am wasting so much time if we are indeed unable to conceive.

I too, just took a pregnancy test and it was negative and I havent had a period in two months. So, I have to start taking my provera again. If I get my period then the doctor wants me to call her so we can set up an appointment. She wants to do an ultrasound of my ovaries and uterus to make sure there is nothing wrong physically with me. I am happy I found a doctor that will at least investigate first then just say, your too fat, lose weight.

I am proud to say that after one week of dieting I lost 4 pounds!!!!

LOL love your analogy of how our hormones are stretched over our already stretched bodies! :)

Thanks for the encouragement. Really need it. Took another test today and it said that I was not pregnant. My period is now almost two weeks late. Any chance that it might be wrong. Will be honest that it is the third one that I have taken.

I had a horrible time trying to get pregnant when I was at my largest (300 lbs) even my period became irratic and I know I wasn't ovulating very often. when I hit 190 I got pregnant having sex once during a cycle.. and then after that I've been super fertile including a set of twins lol
it was my weight for sure, I guess what I'm saying is there is hope and dropping weight can increase or restore fertility in alot of women, it's got to do with your hormones, if you are overweight the hormones are more stretched out over more area, and aren't as strong (at least that is how it was explained to me)

I guess when I was younger I always thought that it was so easy to get pregnant. I mean my sister got pregnant four times and she is only 26.

You are not alone, my doc flat out said I was too fat to conceive. Unhealthy was actually the term he used after seeing me wedge myself in his chair. I was mortified by the realization that my weight could present yet another obstacle: preventing me from starting a family.

I feel you on that. It seem like everytime I turned around some else was pregnant. At my job alone I can think of like 5 people who was pregnant at the same time. If I heard one more story or looked at one more sonogram, I was going to scream!!!I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

I feel ya on the frustration when you run into others that are pregnant. I remember when my husband and I had celebrated our first anniversary, my girlfriend had had her first child by then and we were looking to have ours. It was not a year and she was pregnant again. Then another friend got pregnant and then another and another and soon it seemed that everywhere I turned were women who were pregnant. I felt like I was the only one.

Right now I am 10 days late and I am keeping my fingers crossed that I might be but if not I won't get too upset because I still have time. :) I am only going to be 28.

I would love to keep in contact with everyone. It makes me feel better that I am not the only one having this problem. I just feel it is so unfair that I know so many other overweight women who get pregnant as soon as a man just looks at them, and here it is I cant for the life of me. Thanks for the support! I will order the book. Thanks for the tip!! As for the ice cream, heck yeah , I am so tired after eating ice cream!! I just thought it was me!

Regina honey don't get discouraged about PCOS, I too suffer from it as well as Insulin Resistance. I was just 'officially' diagnosed in February but I have known I had it for many years. They too told me in 1998 I would never have kids. Little did anyone know I have a 21 month old little girl right now. I did lose a lot of weight and miraculously got pregnant. I then surpassed my weightloss by 50+ lbs, topping out at 307. I too am TTC#2 with PCOS, please don't feel alone, together we can do this. I would be willing to buddy up with you if you'd like. I have found that the more I watch my carbs (Insulin) the more weight I lose and the better I feel. Ever notice when you eat ice cream you feel sluggish. Could be the insulin surge. What do you say we fight this together. Heres to losing weight and getting preggo!!!

Hi RAGINA,
Trust me...you are not the only one having trouble getting pregnant. My husband and I have been trying to for the past three years. Nothing yet...well I am a little late on my period (10 days) took a test and it still says that I am not pregnant. I think that if my period does not come on by next Wednesday I will take another test and make appointment.

I have been seeing a gyno for the past two years and taking fertility drugs (Clomid) but nothing yet (that I know of LOL). She has not said that I have pcos but I would be interested to ask her and see what she has to say. I know that I have to lose weight, I won't kid myself, but it is going to be a very long road if I am to do it healthy. I will be 28 yrs old 7th/Aug so I kind of feel my clock ticking away. :)

Keep your head up you are not alone. I would like to keep in touch with you if that is alright. We can go through this together.

Along with trying to lose weight, pick up a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It is a great book, about charting your cycles, to help you find the perfect time to do the deed to maximise chances of pregnancy. And they talk about pcos in it.
Good luck, don't do the weight loss only for pregnancy though, do it for yourself too!

I have always had a problem with being a little overweight. I didnt realize that sometimes being overweight will mess with your hormones. I have a very hard time getting pregnant. I have one son and it took us 3 years almost to get pregnant the natural way. We have been trying to get pregnant for the last two years and we finally just went an saw an infertility specialist. After sitting down and talking with her she feels I have polycystic ovarian sydrome. She suggested that I need to lose weight to help combat the pcos and that it may help with me getting pregnant. I just felt so depressed after hearing that. I mean I know I need to lose weight but geesh, talk about pressure to lose weight. I just need support!
