| I flew with my daughter at 18 months and did what everyone said, except the Benedryl. (I never thought of that.) My sister in law told me after I got back that I should have given her a sucker for take off and landing. I tried to give her something to drink, but she didn't want it. The candy idea would have helped because she would have taken that. It is just a sticky suggestion. Best wishes.

Thank you all for the great tips. We flew when she was 4 months and she mostly slept, and now it's all I can do to get her to take a nap.
Hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July.

yeah I too have had negative reactions to using bebydryl. But my doctor suggested it and we talked about it for quite a bit. This is a personal decision, and you should talk to the kids Dr about it. Morgan, my youngest gets travel sickness easily, so we have a supply a dramaine (sp) for him. You do what makes the trip the best for you.

| I didn't mention the benydryl because when I told my cousin about it she got really offended I would "drug" my kids, but it can be a sanity saver. My youngest DD has used it for years due to allergies and exzema, but her pediatrition recommended it for airplanes too. Especially on long flights where many different time lines will be crossed and you want them to sleep a bit to control the jet lag.

| Hi there ... I travel to the UK from California every 18 months. My boys are now 6 and 4. I agree with everything that people have siad. I would still order the kid meal, depending on the airline they will give you special kids snacks when you board the plan. Bulkhead is great. I also would talk to your doctor about giving your child benedryl. It helps with the pressure and gets them to sleep. Hope you have a great trip!

I just returned from a trip with my kids, my youngest is 17 months and I did exactly what stresedmommy said. I packed her favorite blanket, books, toys, snacks, and a sippy cup for her ears. It actually went really, really well. I hope you have a great trip.

| pack extra snacks, toys and clothes. Also have her suck on something during takeoff and landing (bottle, pacifier, or sippy cup) This will help her ears deal with the changes in air pressure. I bring extra lotion and lip balm too. The air in the plane really dries out my kids skin. Get up and walk when you can and remember, the flight attendants have seen it all, so don't hesitate to ask for advice or help. I hope you both have a fun trip.

My daughter Olivia is 11 months but acts a bit older. We are traveling from Germany to the States, it's about 10 hours barring any delays and I wonder if anyone has some good advise for flying. She's walking and eating adult foods (whatever mommy eats Olivia wants). I've requested a bulkhead seat so that she'll have a bit of room and she has her own seat.
