I have a 23 month old daughter who knows what a potty is, but doesn't understand how to use it. I mean to say is that she sits on the potty, but she thinks it is a chair because she sits for a second and gets back up (this is with her diaper on). When I tried without the diaper, she doesn't want to use it. SSooo, I'm just gonna have to wait for the right moment for her to start potty training.
Another thing, I have a five year old daughter, but she's done potty training.

| I agree with Katlyn1010...they will do it when they are ready. I think it scares them if we force them. Try giving him an extra treat if he goes number 2..make a game out of it, make it fun. HTH!

| Relax and be patient. I have 3 kids and they were all 2 wks. before their 3rd birthday. Hopefully it will click soon. I wouldn't be worried yet. My youngest saw some Thomas the train underwear as we were shopping and he asked for them. I told him I would only get them if he would make sure to always go to the potty so they won't get messed up. He said ok and he only had 2 or 3 accidents in them. I think they just decide one day.

I am working on potty training jenny, and while she has not done it in the potty, she pooped in front of the potty and peed, so she is starting to get the idea, she told me peepee and I took her in there but did not make it in time

Pooping on the pot is harder to get them to do than pee. It must be hard to learn to poop on the pot after you have stood, laid or squatted. Is he constipated? Does it hurt him? I gave my daughter an extra M& M if she pooped. It also helped for me to tell her she just had to sit there for a while… My daughter would hold it... which created more problems.
For the little girl I watch (almost 2) she has to go sit on the pot a few times…. Sometimes I go sit on a stool next to her and read her a short book to get her to relax and do the deed…

Hello everyone,
I need help my 2 yr old soon to be 3 in august son won't poop on the potty. He cries and screams when I sit him down, he loves to pee pee and can go by himself. What can I do to encourage him and reassure him that everything will be ok.

Hi - I do the 12h night shift thing too, and do way too much caffeine and not enough water... People think I'm nuts, but when I do nights, at least I get to see my little guy for a few before I head out the door after dinner... Working days would mean leaving before he gets up and coming home after he goes to bed. Not willing to give that up...

New here, but think having a thread for those of us who have toddlers is great. I have 2 boys, age 7 and 3. My 3 year old just got potty trained, (not by anything I ever did I think) I did do the, whenever you are ready, routine. We went to Meijer and I let him pick out his own underwear, we also had a candy dish (skittles) onthe top of the medicine cabinet where he couldn't reach and told him when he went he got to get a skittle...his fav. candy that he rarely gets. That really seemed to motivate him. He wore a pullup at night for about 2 weeks because I was nervous, had a few accidents and still has me wipe, which I think I did for my 7 year old until he was 4 or so...I can't remember. I did talk to him about potty training when he was 2 but he was having NOTHING to do with it. So I waited until he was interested in watching his big brother or daddy. Just this past week he started standing up too. Since it is summer, put them outside if you can, in big underwear. If they have an accident, just let them sit in it for a while. Gavin whined when he made a mess in his big undies. He DID NOT like that feeling. I think that helped alot.
Thanks for letting me post...I am sitting here at work and it is 10:38 am, I still have 8 1/2 more hours to go, been here since 7pm...aaaggghhhhh Gotta go drink more water...

Hello! I'm a SAHM of 3: 8, 2, and 10 months. My youngest one has just learned she can climb the stairs. running up and down the steps carrying a 21 pound baby has been a great work out for me. But when they have all gone to bed I find myself eating junk I don't need to eat. I don't buy junk for per say, but you can eat too much of the "good stuff" (my waist line tells me so!!). With summer vacation well underway, I find myself doing less exercising and more sun bathing! Not a great way to lose 95 pounds...
My goal is to get down to 120-125 by April of 2008 because we are going to Disney World. I don't want to be one of those fat people my husband and I saw on the vacation guide video! I've given myself plenty of time to lose it, I hope that helps me not to feel overwhelmed!
I just remind myself: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!! If it wasn't for the Lord, I wouldn't be sitting here telling my story.

| That's so funny Sue-- my daughter still begs for the poop wipe!! I get so aggravated, I MAKE her do it at this point! She is afraid to get poop on HER hands (what about me- I GAG everytime I have to do it). I just realized that she'll finally get tired of waiting for me and do it herself. I bought those Huggie's flushable wipes (aka poopy wipes in our house) and she'll do it herself.

Okay - this is one of those moments where you go - someone I can post too!!!. Sean was still in diapers at 3 (this is a whole 2 months ago, BTW.) Very normal little guy. Me, I'm getting so fed up with diapers..... Tried everything, even potty training for dummies. Which I didn't have a chance to read through.
You see, after getting the right potty for Sean - and of course, because he was ready - he trained himself. Completely. Including nights. In under a week. Mind you, potty prizes (bigger ones for poops) did seem to help.
Okay - potty story (warning for those not interested) - his first BM solo. Locks himself in bathroom, goes, dumps, flushes, cleans toilet with brush (you go, guy!!!) Too cute.
Part of his problem was he didn't like sitting over the water, but Sean is a big boy, so I had to improvise a custom potty that didn't squeeze his little cheeks together.
If you take anything away from this, I think it was important for me too grasp that
(1) boys do tend to train later than girls
(2) getting him involved in picking the potty helped. Asking him what the problem was helped too.
(3) patience - don't see a lot of 15 year olds in diapers!
Just so you don't think I'm too annoying - he won't wipe himself. Period (sigh). And the dump/flush/clean thing was a one shot.....

| And, SHE-IT, your mom is right-- your child will definitely tell you when it's time! I got lucky with my daughter, she wanted "big girl" undies when she was 18 months. I didn't force anything and she peed all the time. But by the time she was 2, she had it down to a science!

Let me tell ya-- you CANNOT force a child to go on the potty. The more you push a 2/3 yr. old, the more they resist. Just think about feeding times and everything else...
You have to be the wiser one here... just tell them how great it is to be a big person and how neat big girl or boy undies are, and eww- aren't your diapers yucky? wouldn't it be so fun to put that in the big girl/ boy potty?
If you do it sorta like that- making it a game- the more likely they'll be to "play along".

I am the worst potty trianer ever!! I am a mom of 2 Lucas is 2 (3 in Oct) and Eden just turned 1. I have been trying to potty train my boy, but i must admit I'm not trying really hard. I did make a bunch of charts and bought stickers and nemo underwear. but that was the end. He starded fighting it and I didn't want to make potty a battle. My Mom said he'll figure it out when he's ready. I love my Mom! My MIL however, seemed a little discusted that he wasn't potty trained at 18mths. whateva!!

I am starting to potty train jenny, what I am doing is everytime I go to the bathroom, she runs in to sit on her potty. she has not gone on it yet, but she sits there and then wipes. she started to go but then stood up. when she does go on there I will give her a skittle.

| Hello I have to 4 year old little girls I think the boob thing is a stage all kids just get curious just try and move his hands away and say no don't do that it isn't nice and explain to him thats your body and unfortuanatley in today's society explain no one is allowed touching your body except if your doctor is doing a special test or a safe trusted adult is helping you as for the potty training you might have to wait until he can communicate or if you know his schedule or go every hour on the hour and try to go if he potty's praise him let him call grandma or another realtive he wants to tell the big news to do a sticker chart so he can see how he is progressing and just be patient it can take a while it will happen though

I have a 22 month old and a 5 month old.I'm want to start potty training my son......but have no idea where to begin.He doesn't really talk a whole lot.He wears the pull-ups, but he doesn't understand that he has to sit on the potty and go.....and not go and then sit on the potty with the diaper on.
oh, and he just lately started squeezing my boobs.I don't know why all of a sudden that's the first thing he does when I pick him up.my mom seems to think it's because it's something soft.I don't know...

My 2 ½ year old daughter is fascinated by boobs. When she was about 18 mo we were out to dinner with my husband’s family at a local restaurant. The waitress reached over my daughter... and my daughter reached up grabbed her boob and loudly said BOOBIE. I of course was mortified.
In Wal-Mart 2 weeks ago she put her hands on both of my breasts, proceeded to jiggle them, laughing saying boobies … boobies… I remind her that this is my body and it is not ok to touch other people’s bodies with out asking first… it works sometimes... but she has always liked boobies… (I stopped breast feeding when she was 3 mo old).
She likes to tell people that she has little boobies and mommy has big boobies...

gregory has been potty trained for over a year and no clue what made him start. I had jenny two years ago and he loved her and he says that she is his baby and then I had joy nine months ago and he said the same thing. I expected a him to have a little problem then but he did not.but jenny is fighting with him alot now, so that might be it or he is jealous of all the time I have to spend on joy. No clue, but it sprung up all of a sudden about three weeks ago

| he is not constipated.I just told him if he goes a week without pooping in his pants I will give him a thomas the train video, I already bought it and will save it for him.I am going to give him a sticker every day that he does not do it and when he gets to 7 he will get it and then the next time it will be two weeks. I hope that works.

wow what a way to stop peeing.
IS he constipated when he goes in his pants or the last time he went potty. That can really discourage potty use. I believe they all hit a phase where they wanna keep playing. SOmetimes they do it more than once. Right now I am bribing my son with someone he wants if he poops on the potty and not in his pants. He use to do it and I stopped. I hate poop in pants! But the bribing for stickers, a tiny piece of candy, etc. works.

Hi all I have a 6 and 4 year old and 10 day care kids ages 3 weeks up to 5 years old I stay busy. Only work part time during the summer and Fridays are a must have off day.
So we are off for a power shopping trip today going to town we live in Shoshone Idaho about an hour away from Sun Valley.....

| Hi! I have a 3 year old daughter and a 14 month old son. They're great fun. They love each other sooooooooooo much it's amazing! I just love being a mom. pregnancy has been the best diet ever for me. I gained 8lbs with my daughter and lost 32! Gained 16 with my son and lost 20 but then I gained those 20 back by overating... I have now lost them but still want to lose a few more! I am also hoping I'll have a 3rd child some time (won't happen according to my husband...) and hopefully it'll work again!

Peeing on the carpet is hilarious!!!! Some of my kids use to have "pee drops" which is basically being too lazy to go to the bathroom. I HATE PEE DROPSSSSSSS

I just got over an "accident" phase in my house. My 4 yr old son started peeing on the carpet. He was saying it was accident but then would tell us he didn't want to stop watching his shows to go to the bathroom. So he was no longer allowed to watch his shows. He still peed on the floor so then we went up to the police station. This is the 2nd time we had to do it. He knows that people who don't listen have to stay at the police station. By the time I pulled into the parking lot he was crying hysterically. We also told him that if he could go a whole week without peeing on the floor he could get the Lightning McQueen hotwheel car he wanted. We haven't had any "accidents" since then.
I also think it was an attention thing. I have a 13 month old and my husband just started back at school 4 days a week, I work nights so when I am with the kids during the day a lot of times I'm falling in and out of sleep cause I can't stay awake after an hour of sleep. That is when these episodes started.

I have three kids, a four year old son, two year old daughter and a nine mone old daughter. I try to have healthy food at home, but they eat a lot of junk at their aunts and grandmas house. the two older are pretty skinny and the baby is chubby. gregory waited until he was three to start the tantrums and jenny started the tantrums pretty much as soon as she turned 6 months and is going strong. I have lost about six pounds since starting two months ago. I have been having a problem with gregory if anyone can help me. all of the sudden he started having bowel movements in his underwear, he says that they are accidents, but having three to four accidents a week, come on. I think he wants more attention, but not sure how to give it to him, thank you

| I read through most of the posts but not all of them, I'll have go back through but I wanted to post really quick. I am a mommy to 3 girls! My oldest will be 5 in July, my middle baby is 3, and my youngest is 4 months! If you think 2's are bad, wait til they are 3! *lol* Its all about personality though. I didn't have nearly as much trouble with my oldest as I do with my 2nd daughter. She makes it hard work just to make a quick trip to the store (there's no such thing as a "quick trip".) She always has this little devious grin, than she'll bust out running. No one could believe that I was in labor and chasing her around when she broke lose. She just turned 3 in March and I was hoping that turning 3, she'd calm down a bit but nope! She's just gotten faster *lol* The park was wet today due to rain yesterday, so I let my girls run back and forth in front of the house. They were racing each other. I was tired just watching them! I wish I had that kind of energy. Soon I'll be joining the race with them though!

Hi everybody!
I have a daughter who will be 4 in August and a soon-to-be-step daughter who just turned 2. My almost 4 year old acts like she's about 12. Like all you other moms know, she knows EVERYTHING and hears EVERYTHING!!! The other day the 2 year old was running around without her diaper on and I told her to put it back on. So my 3 1/2 year old looks at her and says, "yeah- I don't want you pissing all over my room!" I almost died! Oops! But I guess sometimes all ya can do is laugh! (in the other room of course, after you tell them not to talk like that...)
She loves Dora too and that Pirate Dora show is great. We saw it in Cleveland about 2 months ago.

| One thing another mom told me about was that she did all the moves along with the Wiggles while her son watched the movie. I believe it was the dance one in particular. I don't recall the name. She said it was hard doing it the whole time and she got a good workout. Thought that might help someone out there get some excersize in!

| My 2 1/2 year old loves Diego so much. He owns all of the Diego books and toys we cannot leave a store without buying him one. I don't mind because he is actually learning when he copies everything Diego does.

I have a 4year old, 2 1/2 year old and a 5month old. I was for sure i would lose weight chasing after 3 kids but yet to see any real change. But i am on my way slowly but surely. My hubby and I are going to Tennesse in Oct. by ourselves so i am really looking foward to that and is also a reward for losing weight, for myself.

Sorry it took me so long to get back here, but we are going to sothern california, aobut an 8 hour drive with the 2 year old, who like all childeren refuses to where clothing, or brush her hair, and she is starting to not want shoes...but the good thing about this trip for me is that i am leaving the childeren for 10 days, i will be crazy by day 2 but i am excited right now, i am not gonna know what to do with myself, i might even go potty ALONE!!!lol

Hiya. My daughter Jasmin-Rose is 3yrs and 6 mths. She is a little monkey. I feel she has the terrible 3's and skipped the terrible 2's. He he. She's a very well behaved girl but they need 101% of your time don't they.
I put on 5 stone - (70 lbs) whilst I was pregnant, losing only 14 lbs of that weight after she was born and 3 years later. I am so desperate to loose the rest (or as much as I can). Can it be done?

There was a really cool article in Baby Talk a few months back, where the writer ate exactly what her 3-year old ate - for 2 weeks and she lost 4 pounds doing it.

I totally would be into that. I think that is the hardest part, not eating what you feed your toddler (especially all the high fat content that is good for him.) The cheese idea is a good one.

I have been working with the program for 4 days now, and so far so good. I have already gone down one inch in the waist, YAY!! I am a mom of a 4 year old girl and a 19 month old boy. My son loooves his cookies, and I used to munch with him daily. That is one thing that I miss. My daughter loves cheese. I am a cheeser, I would die for a mouthful right now. My husband is in the military and he works nights, so he is sleeping when I am spending the day running with the kids and watching them munch. The final thing, my husband loves it when I bake for him. The only problem, I love eating what I bake. Are there any suggestions for things that I can do or make for my family that I can enjoy with them? Mom's are the strong ones, remember that.

Hi there. I have a 3 1/2 year old son and 11 mo old daughter. And they keep me running. You would think with all that running that I would be skinnier. Thanks macaroni and cheese. Gotta stop eating what the 3.5 yo eats. 2 things that I have found that help are laughing cow cheese (the original red) they come in the little wax wrapped round and they are perfect portion control and a really good snack, with carrots on a good day, and my son loves them, too. Any other toddler mommies interested in diet support, food ideas that work for kids and won't kill the diet?

| my little girl (almost 3) is a HUGE dora the explorer fan... we have EVERYTHING dora... it's ridiculous.

| We travel a lot with our daughter. (flying and car) If possible, drive when the kids are sleeping. Our road trips are a 20 drive to SD, so she gets to be awake a lot too. Bring new toys/books to keep busy and healthy snacks. Graco just came out with a reclining toddler car seat, which we are getting, so that she can sleep more comfortably with out her head bent over. Take plenty of breaks and let little ones play outside of their seats. Hope that helps.

| I have to do the "panty check" with my son. He likes to take off his diaper and then put his pants back on. First time he did it we were on our way to his grandparents (2hrs away) It wasn't the best surprise in the world. Anyone have any advise for traveling with a toddler? | Hi everyone. I'm a 24 year old stay at home mom of three boys (gavin 3, Payton almost 2 and Keegan 4 months). My three year old is so stubborn about potty training no matter what I do he just doest want to go. So I have three in diapers. My two year old I am constently running around after. He is always getting in to everything. Time outs dont work for him as soon as he gets up he goes right back and does it again. Its so frustrating. Lucky for me I was blessed with an amazing newborn who is almost always happy and has slept through the night since he was 4 weeks. I gained a lot of weight with my last pregnancy and want to lose about 60 pounds. It be nice to talk to other moms that are losing weight and know how busy it is dealing with toddlers.

Hi,
I am the mom of an almost 22 month old. She is very into Pooh and loves puppies. That is cool with us, but the "NO" all the time is making me insane. I stay home with her so I hear it a lot. Today I told her we were going to have a happy yes day. That kind of worked, but I have still heard that dreaded word way too much for my ears. I even try to be super aware of my own use of the word, but she just loves to show her independance.

Ok where are you going to on Vacation???
And Bella doesn't even wear clothes and when she does she insists on picking them out herself. So I either have a completely naked 3 yr old girl, or half clothed without panties 3 yr old girl, or a 3 yr old girl who looks like she's a forgotten child or a war refugee! And God forbid that I pick out her clothes! Finally one day she was giving me the what's up and I just said" Bella, hush. I am your mom and though it may pain you I get to pick out your clothes sometimes too. So, not another word!" She's been a little better since then.
oh, and once, she dressed herself in a cute outfit for once. We wnet to walmart and I picked her up (she was wearing a kind of short skirt) and noticed that she had NO UNDERWEAR ON AT ALL!!!!! so I just put her in the cart and tucked her skirt down as much as I could. Needless to say we have panty checks now before she leaves th ehouse:) She is so naughty:)

Hi I am a mommy of not one but 2 toddlers. On is 2 and a half and one is 9 months yesterday. I am trying to get rid of baby weight so that I can get back into the ARMY. I have been out for 18 months after serving 6 years in. It is a struggle trying to get back into shape. My boys keep me busy though. They also love Dora. There is a really good DORA live show call the Pirate Party. I enjoyed it almost as much as they did. For all those Dora mommies you should go to the Dora show online to see when it is comming to your town. It is worth the money just to see how there eyes light up to see the real thing.

Hi I'm SAHM of a 2yr. He loves to test me and I'm about at my wits end here. For example I'm at the moment trying to blow up a pool for him because he's been begging and he wont stop jumping on it. I blow air in he jumps all air comes out. I'm going crazy.... Not to mention he keeps taking all his clothes off. I've dressed him five times and he's only been up for an hour.
He also seems to have discovered my boobs cause he keeps putting his arms down my shirt... I had a shirt that the buttons snap close... In line at walmart he grabbed a hold and before I could stop him my shirt was completely open... go figure guy in front guy behind and guy cashier.... Anyone else have this problem? If he had only shown this interest when he was born and I could have breastfed and lost this weight a long time ago! *L*

You know i was told that clear alcohal, like rum, vodka gin all have 50 cals per oz. so i go with that, and then jsut adding a low cal mixer you are good to go. I know the marg. mix is very low and i think the tequilla fals in the clear booze catrogory, so i would guess no more than 100 cals per drink, but i am not 100% on that...

I don't think margarita's have alot of cals do they? i hope not b/c they are my fav! But has anyone ever had a chocolate martini? They look so good an dyummy but of course I know they are not low cal so I'm stearing clear of those!
What about vodka on the rocks? Maybe with a spritz of oj? Oh great, now I want a mimosa?!?!?!?!?

| well i have been setting aside 50 calories for one oz of white rum, and then i usualy drink that with either, diet coke, 0 cals or crystal light 5 cals, so 55 cals and recently i have been having the drink instead of a dessert (which i have to have) and i am good to go. I guess it isnt every night, but ya a few nights a week after the storm has calmed...lol

i second the cocktailing...not every night, but i make room a couple nights a week for white wine (70 cal per glass...a lot less than most anything else i've found) and plop it into my meal planner. any other low cal cocktails that anyone has encountered? mommies need to unwind too!

| I'm a stay at home mommy with three kids, ages 7, 4, and 2. I just joined sp this morning. I hope it will help me get rid of the weight I gained with my last pregnancy and recent thyroid issues.

Hi!
I am new to this group. I have a 20 month old silly boy who keeps me going all day long! I gained 50 pounds with my pregnancy and I am back down to my pre-pregnancy weight, but I definately don't look the same....need some toning and it seems like everything I eat goes straight to my butt and thighs! Keeping track of my calories really helps, I love this website!

I have a six-year-old son, and my daughter turns two in August (!). She is definitely giving us a run for our money lately. It's the disobeying, the saying "no" and then smiling and acting all innocent that slays us. Maybe because she's the baby, our only girl, and our last? All I know is that she was up at 5 AM this morning screaming and sobbing and didn't stop until I dropped her off at the baby-sitter's at 7:30 AM. This was after she was woken up by a killer thunderstorm last night and didn't go back to sleep until 11 PM. I hope she takes a L-O-N-G nap today, so that tonight she's human again! LOL!

I am the mother of 3 boys ages 14, 12 and 2 1/2. Before I started at SP I was 40 pounds overweight and had a hard time keeping up with them. But now that I am loosing and eating heathy I have more energy to hang out with them more.
They have their food and I have mine, they even have tried some of my healthy foods and they love it.

| You can do it! i was lucky cus i lost the first twenty before the baby ate all the munchy snacks...and so she learned to realy enjoy carrot sticks and celery with mommy...lol now if i could jsut stay away from the nightly cocktail i think i would beable to drop teh rest...lol, but it seems to be the only thing to help me go to sleep after a chaotic day!

I'm a mom of a rowdy 2 year old boy, so I'm right here with you. I'm trying to lose at least 20 pounds, and its rough! Its so hard for me not to snack all day while he's snacking :)We can be weight loss/diet buddies if you want!

I am a mom of a 9 and a almost 2 and I think for me the 9 Year old boy has grown out of what the 2 year old is just getting into, it is a big gap...
