You're lucky. I ask and ask but it still never gets done. If it's something he needs to do and I finally do it, he gets bent. I'm tired of waiting for him to do what I ask. He works as a paid firefighter and he's chief of our local volunteer FD so I understand he has a lot of responsibility with both of those positiions; but does that mean we (his family) don't aren't part of that responsibility? As little as we do see him he'd rather spend those hours in front of the TV watching movies. I really don't know what to do. I'm afraid to talk to him because he'll just turn it around and it'll all be my fault. I work too. Not just as a mom. I'm out 2-3 nights a week as a secretary in a very busy emergency room. I'm totally frustrated. I feel for you, Mandy. We don't bring in enough money either and that just adds to the stress (obviously I do the bills too). If you find the answer to your problem I hope that means I'll find mine too.

My husband is willing to help do things if I ask him to do something specific. He just doesn't see what I think needs done but will help once I ask.

Good luck!!

Why not send him a note here and there to let him know how you feel. My husband works late hours, and I'm not working right now...so I understand how stressful it can be financially, and because of the lack of help in the home. Give him some love notes...and hopefully he will recipricate, in some way.

Hope it works, I don't think men will really ever understand how much work it is to be a mom, but deep down I know they appreciate the fact that they could never handle the kids, the house, the bills, the job with the same grace that we do.

I am just returning to work after having my son and although my husband and I both work day shift I feel he hasn't taken on his share of the household responsibilities. I started small with him. I first asked him to simply not create more work for me by taking care of his own things (put his own dishes away, take his laundry downstairs, rinse the sink after washing his dirty hands etc.) This seemed to help bring the condition of the house into awareness and believe it or not he has started emptying the dishwasher, sweeping the floor, and other things. I haven't got him to scrub a toilet yet but there's been progress.

My husband and I have 3 very young children. The oldest is 4. We are a low income family, barely making ends meet. So my husband and have to work diffrent shifts in order to avoid costly daycare. And also for the benifit of our children. The problem that we are running into though is the fact that we don't get to see eachother during the week. Not even for 5 min. And then on the weekends there is so much that was left undone during the week. Because he dosen't clean. I guess he thinks that's my job. That I end up getting mad at him and he ends up walking away..A.K.A. we don't even get the weekends because we are always mad at eachother. I love my hubby dearly and I don't want anything to come between us. But at the same time I can feel my marrage slipping away. If anyone has been where I am. and has some tips or comments. Please let me know I would really appriciate it.
