I make my oven fries a little different. I cut the potatoes into 8 wedges and have a bowl with a lid that I put all the seasoning and a small amount of oil in. Then add the potatoes, cover with the lid and shake to coat. Then bake until browned.
I like to use Mrs.Dash garlic herb, onion, hot and spicy, tomatoe basil. What ever flavor you like.

Thanks, I'll have to try that.

On the cream cheese turkey rolls, what else do y'all think would taste good rolled up?

You can also make your own french fries from real potatoes by slicing them the size you want, then shaking in a bag of flour & salt, then spritzing with canola or olive oil & baking. They taste fantastic, and have all the nutrients of a potato, yet eat like a french fry. Much cheaper too, since one small potato wouls serve one or more children. And so little peel would show on each fry that the kids wouldn't notice. Just a thought, lol. Take care, Connie

Hey Connie my kids would KILL me if I tried to eliminate french fries completely fromn their diet:) What I like about the kid kabobs is that they help control portion sizes. Instead of having a bowl or a ton of them the kids get like 4-5 on a ka bob and two kabobs will fill them up.

About the potatoes I am so with you girl! I leave the peel on for EVERYTHING! But for mashed potatoes I just cut them up pretty small and then mash them with a hand strainer. At first my kids where like EEEEWWWWWW but now they are so used to it they don't say a word!

Hey, if you want a healthier kid kabob, try using real potatos, either sliced, cubed, or cut into strips. The french fries & tator tots are NOT considered a vegetable because of all of the additives & cooking they have gone through before you get them. The sodium is high, too. I leave the peels on for everything now, mashed, baked, fried, boiled, etc. Most of the nutrients are found in the peels. If mashing, put them through the food processor to get the peels as small as the ones served at Golden Corral. Take care, Connie

I am so sorry. I don't eat it myself, but my daughter brought it in. I thought it had said fat-free. Again, sorry for the mistake. Thanks for pointing it out to me. Take care, Connie

Karri the Peanut Butter I have is 95 calories for a table spoon. The tortilla I used was only 125 and it was the burrito size. The whole wrap is 313 with how I made it. I am always at the bottom of my calories though. It is so satisfing that it can be a great meal.

I HAVE to share this recipe for a meal! It is soooo good and it is from Cooking Light!

Meal is Pork Chop w/gravy, Mash Potatoes & Succotash

My 4yr son ate up the pork chops & gravy ...it took some coaxing but I did get him to eat 2 bites of the succotash...tip for succotash:use frozen lima beans with butter & canned corn (drained) & add 1 TBL of chopped green onion to the succotash..heat it all up in microwave...delicious!

Pork Chops with Country Gravy

This recipe makes enough gravy to smother the pork chops, or you can spoon half over the chops and half over the mashed potatoes. Substitute dried basil if you don't have marjoram. ** I didn't have the rubbed sage so I just omitted

Total time: 40 minutes.

1/4 cup all-purpose flour (about 1 ounce)
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon dried rubbed sage
4 (4-ounce) boneless center-cut loin pork chops (about 3/4 inch thick)
1 tablespoon butter
Cooking spray
1 1/2 cups 1% low-fat milk

Lightly spoon flour into a dry measuring cup; level with a knife. Place flour, salt, dried marjoram, dried thyme, and dried rubbed sage in a shallow dish. Dredge pork in flour mixture, turning to coat; shake off excess. Reserve remaining flour mixture.

Melt butter in a large nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray over medium-high heat. Add pork to pan; cook 2 minutes on each side or until browned. Reduce heat, and cook for 10 minutes or until done, turning pork once. Remove pork from pan; keep warm.

Combine reserved flour mixture and milk in a small bowl, stirring with a whisk until blended. Add milk mixture to pan; place over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, scraping pan to loosen browned bits. Reduce heat, and simmer 2 minutes or until slightly thickened, stirring constantly. Serve with chops.

Yield: 4 servings (serving size: 1 chop and 1/2 cup gravy)

CALORIES 252(34% from fat); FAT 9.6g (sat 4.4g,mono 3.6g,poly 0.8g); protein 28.9g; cholesterol 83mg; calcium 142mg; sodium 584mg; fiber 0.3g; iron 1.5mg; carbohydrate 10.6g

Hi Conmost,
I'm confused. You said Jiff has a fat-free peanut butter? How can that be so? Are there any peanuts in it? Or is a non-nut substitute? Or is the portion size very small? Would you mind checking on the package for me? I'd love to find it, but I dont want to spend hours hunting for it if it isnt really fat-free or close to it. And I'm having alot of trouble figuring out how a product that would be mainly nuts could be fat free.

We found it at WalMart, on the top shelf, but only a slim column of them. Check behind the others, someone may have moved a regular jar in front of them. But remember, just because it's fat-free doesn't mean it is low in excess proteins or carbs, so read the label. Your carbs, fats, & proteins have certain ratios that have to be met, along with the calories. Check these by scrolling to the bottom of the MEAL PLANNER/ food tracker page, then click where it says PRINT TODAY'S FULL REPORT, then scroll to the bottom of that page where you will see 2 pie charts - one based on the foods you tracked that day & the other being SPark People's recommendations. Take care, Connie

I made a variation this morning of what nationmom made. It was plain nonfat yogurt (6 oz) and one large bananas and 1 tbspn of Peanut Butter crunchy. I mixed it all together and spread it over toasted whole wheat bread. I LOVED it and my daughter liked it alot! It was yummy! I only had two peices of toast and then I downed what was left. I stayed under 300 calories though!

My daughter loves smoothies, so I try to keep them healthy with 2% milk and vanilla yogurt and fruit. Mango with pineapple is a favorite with us. She recently tried one with yogurt, orange sherbet and bananas (she is the banana queen) and it was pretty good. I try to stay away from icecream.

My nine year old daughter and I have started a three day diet, we have three days on and four free days. This Thursday will be out first free day and everything sounds good. I don't know what we could eat that would be satisfying and yet not over indulging. If you have any tips or suggestions please let us know
