Hello Lovie,
I know things might be difficult for you, I can relate to not feeling good about yourself and not exercising.. I am the same way. I get motivated to workout but when it comes down to it I don't. I find that watching what I eat is enough right now and at the point I am at. I will work on the exercise part at a later time. For me the support I need is taking care of me, getting a better outlook on everything and then dealing with what I should be doing as far as the workout is concerned. Nothing is going to matter unless you take care of the inner you first. I never saw myself as beautiful I too have a low self esteem and get very upset if someone jokes about my weight. It wasn't until recently that I started dealing with my inner self and started healing that first. It takes time believe me, I know I am 28 and have been dealing with weight issues all my life. I have only recently accepted the fact that this is who I am and will work toward a better me inside and out. Time will heal it. Don't take what your boyfriend says to heart. I know it hurts and is hard to deal with but just start slow and make goals that are reachable. You are completely worth it. Try asking your boyfriend to help you in any way he can and hear his suggestions just as he can listen to your feelings this way you can both work together on becoming a better you. I am here for you if you need someone. :) Feel free to email me directly if you don't want to write in here all the time

Hi Lovie,

Is there another reason besides boredom? Are you turning to food for comfort like I do? Are there stressors (or trigger events) that cause you to want to eat? Is there depression going on? Possible anger issues? You don't have to answer these of course; just items for consideration.

If someone (especially someone I had established a deep level of trust with) told me that I had gained a lot of weight, then that comment in itself (with me being so sensitive) would cause me stress and I would shove carrots aside and go for the ice cream.

I think as far as not exercising, that may be an area you have to self-discipline yourself about. I do not "like" to exercise per se, but I force myself to do it. There is a fabulous feeling when you have finished the exercise for the day, knowing you made the right choice. The payoffs are long-lasting and very important to good health.

The resources area is full of motivational suggestions (like a neat little collage I plan on doing). One of the simpler things I do is to have a picture of me before the weight gain and after the weight gain always in front of me.

Kind regards,
Ruthie

Hi Lovie,

Another few suggestions would be to get a work out dvd. You can rent them first if you prefer from your local video store before you buy one to make sure it's the right one for your needs. Also, have you ever started a personal journal. You mentioned that you were unhappy with yourself and sometimes writing about the things that are bothering us can help us change patterns and create healthier habits.

Be well,
Kelly

Try getting healthier snacks in the house too....like fruits and veggies.

What about other friends? Can you get some of your female friends to go exercise with you?

It helped me a lot when I joined my local curves.
It gets you out of the house, and gets you in an exercise pattern. Go every day at the same time, and within a months time you will have a pattern going. You will also meet new people, and have fun doing it!

My boyfriend told me that in the past year I have gained a lot of weight, I'm only 18 years old and I'm already not happy with myself. When I'm home alone all I do is eat and eat because I'm bored. I don't like to excersize because I don't like to do it alone and my boyfriend works alot. Do any of you have any suggestions for me?
