Right now I have most of it sitting on my couch waiting to get folded and more to be done.
With 6 kids and 2 adults, it's a never ending process. My weekends are laundry, laundry and MORE laundry.
| The never ending cycle of laundry. I try to run a full load everyday. Sort, Wash, Dry and put away. After avoiding it for 2 days, I have 2 loads on the floor in my bedroom begging to be put away. And 5 loads sitting on the floor in the laundry room.

Today...two loads wrinkled in baskets in the living room, one wrinkled in the dryer, and one in my room that IS folded...ready to be put in drawers! It's senseless to even try and count how many downstairs because that number could change by tonight...hopefully it won't though!
| I can't hang stuff outside. I have very severe allergies, including things like mold, ragweed, grass, certain trees, pollen, etc. No way am I intentionally going to let all of those allergens all over my clothing, sheets, towels, etc that go directly on my skin!
| My laundry is washed, dried, folded ( or hung)and put away. Even all the socks! The throws from the couches are folded and sitting on the dryer. Only thing dirty is what we wore yesterday. This is totally a first for me lol. We re-arranged our house this past weekend so all the laundry got done for a change. It feels pretty darn good to not having laundry staring me in the face screaming " do me, do me!"
| Ahhhhhh laundry the ever lasting cycle. Never ending.
| Yesterday was he first day over here (UK) that I've been able to hang the laundry out to dry. It was beautiful, a long line of white school shirts, gym shirts and tae kwon do outfits against a bright blue sky and birds singing. And then ironing straight from the line. It's true little things please little minds!

| I just wrote about this on one of my SparkTeam's boards... but if you have an exercise ball, fold your laundry while sitting on it. Especially big things like towels and sheets. It works your core muscles. Just thought I'd share that tip. An easy way to sneak in some stability work.

| My laundry? LOL! My basement looks like the dryer threw up! I don't know about anyone else but sorting socks to me is such a waste of time.
Right now I have a load that I just finished washing. But unfortunately our dryer has been broken for about a month so I have to go to the laundomat to dry it. I will probably take it later today to dry and then come home and fold it while I watch tv. My husband is working out of state right now so who knows when the dryer will get fixed. But at least I get some extra exercise lugging wet clothes to the laundromat.
| I hear you all over my bedroom floor,in baskets in the basement
CORPS9499, oh, the crutches-situation changes everything. Too bad about your H not helping out much, I know mine wouldn't either. Do you watch Wife Swap? I do sometimes, and I'm always amazed when I see those husbands that work full-time and then come home to help do chores around the house. I think the first time I saw that, I started drooling over the TV screen.
Marie - that's true, but when I was on crutches (and even now that I'm not but my ankle still isn't totally healed), it was a huge PITA. My H only did the bare minimum of laundry needed to keep us in clean underwear, so there were like 30 loads of laundry to get through when my ankle was healed enough to get down there and do some.

I'm almost caught up now, so that's good.
CORPS9499, I have my laundry room in the basement, too. On the plus side, think of all the calories burned from going up and down the stairs.

| Mine is in the basement and I hate it. Next house I buy will have main floor laundry.
| I don't mind doing the laundry... I usually plan to do it once a week, every Monday. (If need be I will sneak in a load during the week.) It makes for one whole of laundry but it all gets done (and hopefully folded and put away) to start off the week with full drawers. My laundry is in the basement so I use that as my exercise for the day, going up and down with all the loads. I also have started getting my older son to help, sometimes sorting the laundry and other times folding.

My daughter cleaned her room last night...I had five loads to do today, now I have 10! Her closet was waist-high! I have just folded one load, started the dryer, started the washer, and still cant see the floor from all the mountains of clothes. I will be done around midnight...provided I keep my ears open for the whistles and bells, and start new loads on time. And ohhhhh,yes...she is helping! Moonkiss

| My problem is that I have no problem washing and drying clothes .... i just HATE folding and putting them away. I have like 4 laundry baskets that need folding right now. The thing that really agrevates me is when I finally do fold them and put them in my 4 year olds drawers... him and his 1 year old brother pull them out and throw them all over. I usually end up folding the same clothes atleast 3 times GRRRR
today i have a pile of clothes pilled up on my spwre bed folded, not put away yet, i have a basket full of clothes thats gota be hanged up, my laundry floor has a days washing ahead, my clothes line is 1/2 full of dry washing. i have a pile of sheets that need folding, my linnen cubbed is full, need a bigger one. my builtin robe has fallen apart and chocker full, i need more storage i need help
Well I "thought" it was all done, but I turned around and it had recreated itself! I did 2 loads Sunday and I swear there are 2 more waiting...sigh. I do love doing laundry, its peaceful to feel the warm clean clothes come fromthe dryer, and no one else bothers me whie I fold, sometimes putting it away is a challenge, as I have lost/gained sizes I tend to hold on to all the favorites and have no room in my dresser(s). I love clothes!!!!
I made a deal with my partner too, we change the sheets 2x a week, we both love the feel of fresh sheets, that doesn't make the laundryroom any less busy.
Cute topic, thanks

As of now, most of the constantly worn clothes, are on my bed waiting to be folded, and one load if light colors in the dryer that could be folded-but won't be tonight. I have to do this before I go to bed, and it is 10:55pm, and I just finished eliptical/weights!!! I have made my workout a priority, I must be crazy...
We have major problems with clothes, with stuff in the dressers that we don't want to get rid of, and all the clothes that we do wear all the time are in baskets after washing...
| i hate hanging out my washing on cold winter days my hands have turned to ice. and they take forever to dry grrrrrr
| Some of my laundry is in the washer/dryer, some in a basket, and some neatly folded on the couch. The socks are not folded, they are thrown in a basket. It drives my hubby crazy, but I hate doing socks. Of course, my teens laundry is somewhere in his room in various stages of clean and dirty.
I am the WORST about laundry! I have no problem doing the laundry - folding it and putting it away is a whole other issue.
My husband is a former Marine and is really good about it - it comes out of the dryer, gets folded, gets put away right away.
I am a bad influence on him, though because right now he has a stack of clean laundry on his dresser.
I have always said that if I had extra money I would not hire a cleaning person - just someone to do laundry!
| I don't think I will ever get to the end of the washing mountain - just when I get up to date I turn round and it piling up again. My hubby is one of those who never puts it in the basket - his is always in a heap next to basket. The clean washing is usually in a pile waiting to be put away - but at least its clean.

| well what can i say I HATE CLOTHES lol im bad bad bad.i let my clothes build up then i run out of clothes, i wash my clothes dont hang them out so i end up washing them again, i hang them out and forget to bring them in when dry, my bedroom floor has allways got clothes on the floor, at the moment my gues bed is full of clothes. when i fold up the clothes i dont allways put them away. what can i say IM BAD BAD BAD i need to pull my socks up, hubby needs to kick my arse,

All my laundry is washed dried folded ironed and put away. This is the first time in months ( i stress months) that all the socks have had mates, all the towels are folded nicely and I do not have to run to the basement to find something for the kids and I to wear.
It feels like the weight has been lifted.

Jennifer, no worries I understand completely...
I have to laugh today was the first day doing this, I almost hate to admit it but here it goes..... For some reason my hubby has decided that he is not going to use clean towels more than one time so lately they have been going from one use and then either on the floor or on the bed (even tho the hamper is right next to both lol) well I have decided that I'll let them dry and then fold them back up as if I've washed them... HA HA I don't think that's a bad thing. Well it's off to start a load and then tackle the rest of the house. have a great day everyone!

Jennifer, Thank you but of course that is an old pic and I know I have definately aged in my face.. It's funny I think I've aged 10 years in a matter of 2 LOL guess that is just the kids and hubby stressors. I tried to put up a different pic that was on my hpphoto online album but I can't access it anymore. :( so I'll have to wait till I get at my mom/dad's computer it's saved on there. I'll get more for you guys. I hope you relaxed and enjoyed some alone time after your busy day. I know we always feel guilty taking time for us or buying something new like the money should go here or there instead but treat yourself this weekend to one thing.. PLEASE I felt wonderful buying a skirt and capris. They weren't even that expensive. I am NOT going to think about what the money should have gone to it WENT to me I deserved it and that's it.
My load is in the dryer and I am pretty well caught up. Just going to fold that, put it away, and then vacuum before g'ma picks the kiddies up.

Christine it brings back memories of doing my own laundry. LOL when I was younger I wanted to do my own laundry. my mom was always saying if you are not in the room turn off the light save electricity, so at that stage I figured what better way to save elect. than to NOT use the dryer. So everything was hang dry. :) I was so used to her conscience of that I figured I was helping out. A few times she did end up shrinking a shirt or two so I of course got upset and demanded to do my own. I laugh at that now but having my own way of doing things and knowing that I have to get it done or else I wouldn't have it to wear was all part of that starting to become independent and having to fend for ourselves. Today all my laundry gets washed thrown into the dryer and put away. My mom is a huge ironing freak and I refuse to do it unless it is absolutely necessary. Right now we don't even own an iron.
Jennifer I hope today is a better day for you I am thinking about you and here if you need to talk. I will get back to you on that other email I was so annoyed that Caylie erased it that I didn't want to go near the computer last night.
Well I do have some laundry to get done. I will throw a load in and do some more posting. Have a great day ladies I am always here if you need to talk. Renee

I am so behind today. Not that anything is taking up my time. I just don't feel like doing anything. The kids have been going behind me when I clean and dragging it back out again. So finally I just stopped. So needless to say I am behind. Ever have those days when nothing even food attracts you. Guess just having lots of stuff on your mind gets you not in the mood sometime. Well, going to put a load in right now. So least I can have something to for show when hubby gets home. Jennifer

Good morning all, Christie your welcome. Just take your time, soon it will happen and you'll get caught up.
Renee-Hey there. Whew what a busy weekend. Hubby went racing and his "new engine" messed up so he is going to be pulling that one out and putting his other one in. His new one came from his bro's car who decided not to race anymore but it was supposely a new one but its junk. So back to the drawing board. I did have a chance to relax Saturday evening after running errands. I went to the gym on Saturday morning when it opened so I got a chance to get away for a couple hours on my own. I felt so much better and Sunday we took the kiddos to the Lake. It was so much fun. So today I am catching up on my laundry since we went to the lake I have extra load today. Plus gotta pull the sheets from the bed. Will check in later and hope things are going good this morning for you. Jennifer

Thank you both for your suggestions and your support. I like the bins idea. I actually have about 10 of them for my daughters toys. AS she ages, they are freeing up due to her choices to give many toys away. I will take some of them for clothes. Thanks.

Autencia, I remember someone posting one time that they have a few racks and rods installed next to the washer and dryer so once it has been washed and dried it comes out of the dryer and immediately hung on a hanger and then hung up on the rod. Right there no need to fold lug to another room and put away. It would be similar to what you are doing now but hung up and visible. Maybe that would work.
Mine is all caught up kiddies slept in today so I had the chance of doing what needed to get done for the day already. What am I going to do with my time today ????
Jennifer, hubby is working today which was unexpected so I am looking forward to less of a mess this weekend. Usually I let the vacuuming go until he's at work just so I am not bothering him. I hope you enjoy the time hubby is at the races... I know you don't like the cost issue but you have been busy this week with the kiddies.. Use the time to relax and if that doesn't happen maybe you can have hubby watch them for a bit since he's doing something he wants to this weekend. :) Either way make sure you give yourself some time you not only DESERVE it but are entitled to it. Enjoy your weekend... I usually can't get online when hubby is home either so this is a treat being saturday and online feels good. Renee

Autentica, Wow that is really neat that you are into horses. My parents live in the country and the people next to them raise horses so they are always standing near the fence. We love to go over there and pat them and talk with them. Some are jumpy but a few that are really lovable. They are amazing creatures. I used to go to rodeos growing up. Haven't been in a few years since having the kiddos but I make it to the fair and look around. I think that is such a great passion you have.
ON the laundry. I think what you are doing is great. I know you don't have time to do things and raising a child on your own I commend you. Just take one step at a time. Keeping busy is what everyone goes through. If you don't have enough storage space have you thought of inexpensive storage tubs. Walmart has them and I use those for winter/fall clothes and then switch. I try to put them up out of the way so they don't get double washing. You can stack them and not worry about them anymore. I also do this with the kids toys. I store them and then months later I get them out again. What I would do is get all the clothes you know you will wear and put them in one pile and the clothes you don't wear anymore and bag them and maybe donate them or give them to family/friends for hand me downs. I would just take maybe five minutes at night each night and start piling the ones in the walk in and bag them. Hope this helps. Just try to remember your life is busy and its ok to let the laundry slide. Your baby and horses are important. I hope this helps. Jennifer

This is the funniest thread in the world. Anyone on this, listen up. You do not even KNOW laundry problems. I am a single mom working 60+ hours a week to make money enough to raise a kid and support both of our horse habits (own one, lease a second, pay a trainer and show). So the one life task that I never get done is laundry. I have an entire corner of my laundry room dedicated to attempting to sort my laundry. I have an entire walk in closet that I have forgotten what the floor looks like. I do NOT have time to do laundry.
Our functioning laundry system (did I say "functioning?") is to wash what we need for the next few days (one load a day) and leave them in their clean baskets. We fish through the basket for what we need (the shirts and slacks get hung wet, but otherwise...) and nothing gets washed if it isn't immediately necessary. We buy clothing one season and forget we have it until next year... UGH! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ive tried to do better, the problem (as I've seen others say) is folding and putting away the clothes. If I could do that, I'd be in better shape. But in addition, I don't have enough storage space for the clean clothes! There isn't enough room for it all. I feel like slowing down to do laundry more would rob me of the little time I have to ride horses (my main exercise and life passion) and work (my income for my horses).
Any suggestions?

Jennifer, no worries about getting back to me right away although I do enjoy the conversations :). I'll have to send you an email later need advice on something. My laundry is at the accumulation stage again. Not enough to do a full load so I have to look at the seemingly full basket. YUCK. I will have to sort out my bleachables later and do them dd decided to get into my cup of coffee and try to drink it. Ended up her shirt got more than she did. It's amazing how quick the kiddies find things they are not supposed to have. Well I am going to put away the dishes and get ready for what looks like another gorgeous day. You ladies enjoy your day. Renee, Whew what a long day for me. Hubby took me and the kids to dinner tonight for my mother's day dinner and then we walked around the riverwalk for a couple of hours after. So with going to the zoo and the walking tonight I am exhausted. So dh is doing my laundry for me. He just asked me why do I get a feeling this isn't my laundry. Isn't he such a sweetie. How funny! He is giving me the eye. So I will do better tomorrow catching up with things. Have a great night.
Mony924-That is a good way to get Cardio in. Sprinting up the stairs like that. That is good hubby and mil always help too. Jennifer

My laundry is in the basement.
After I put a load in, I run up the stairs as fast as I can - figure it's a good burst of cardio!
The nice thing is, as long as I start the laundry, my MIL or my hubby will finish it.

Well I have been doing pretty good with the laundry, I think I may have stumbled upon a new method... For some strange reason I put all the dark clothes on top of the dryer, put all the lights in to wash then dried and folded them and put them into the laundry basket. Since there wasn't that much I left the basket in the laundry room and figure that when it gets full I will take it into the house and put it away. I don't know how it will work but for the past three days it sound pretty good.
Jennifer, I have been lucky as far as the storms go, haven't been part of one. I think everytime it's forcasted to hit the area I'm in for some reason I am either out of state or out of town. I hope that continues and I never get to experience it first hand.
Jen, now this is too funny I actually don't mind doing the dishes. We don't have a dishwasher blah but it has to get done.
Well I am in the mood to clean and it's starting to fade so I better get going. I'll be back to post before lunch. Have a wonderful day Renee

Renee-hee hee that was funny about the clothes. I can second that. I wish there would be just one day where I didn't hear the washer going, but same ole same ole. I will try to send you an email as soon as I can slow down.
Lisa-thank you I finally got my flowers planted a nice gift from hubby and to myself for all the hard work/mother's day over the weekend. Looks so much better than the weeds taking over. I got some new decorations from hubby to go in there. So excited, it really came out nice. Its nice sometimes to take a moment and just relax and watch the world just flow by and breathe in some fresh air.

When my DH called I took the phone outside and sat on the front porch and enjoyed the absolutely gorgeous day we were having, and pulled weeds out of the flower bed. I think the mulch I put down last month encourages the weeds, because it certainly hasn't slowed them down! But, it accomplished four things at once--I got to talk to my sweetie, got a break from work, got to enjoy the beautiful day for about 20 minutes, and the weeds are out (for this week anyway!)
I hope everyone has a WONDERFUL day!

Lisa-I would love to find a store like that. Wow that is amazing you found that much stuff for a little over 2 dollars. That would be the best laundry I think. I am so glad your daughter was very happy with your finds. I think its so cute that girls get into clothes. My daughter is in the stage where she likes to pick her outfits. Well, of course I give her two outfits to choose from. It makes getting her dress fun.
Renee-I can honestly say that I got my laundry done but more today almost. I finally got out in my yard and ripped up my flower bed today. That's why I haven't been around. I had orginally went outside to play with my daughter while my son slept but opened her sand box sitting in my flower bed (pile of weeds actually) and it was full of ants. So I said that's it got the shovel and rake and went to town. I empty her sand into the trash and completely overhauled it so now I have a nice flower bed hopefully will be able to go to the farmer's market this weekend and get some flowers for myself for mother's day. So Karlie and I were digging and covered in dirt today but it was fun. Anyhoo, whew what a story. So I cleaned the house this morning and so hopefully get this load done but waiting for hubby's work clothes to make it a full load. Jennifer

My laundry load was really increased this week because a resale shop in town was having a 10 for $1 sale, clearing out the clothes they had to make room for the new arrivals. I spent $2.24 and came home with two big bags full of cute shirts and shorts for my daughter, and a skirt, a pair of shorts, and a pair of pants for me. Everything seemed pretty picked over already when I got to the sale, but by looking at nearly every single item, I found quite a lot, anyway. My daughter was just thrilled, especially about the sleeveless denim vest that fit her perfectly. And for a dime!! Of course, it doubled my laundry load, but it's all done and put away. Whew!! :o)

Jennifer, I completely relate to the hubby taking the vehicle. LOL yet another thing in common :) We have two cars but for some reason he likes taking mine and his is a stick. I have driven his but I am not that good at it. I would never take it alone with the kids. I am scared I might panic and stall it in the middle of the road. If I were completely alone I would take the car but I am afraid if I did actually stall it we risk the chance of getting hit by another car. Plus his needs some work done to it. well I am finishing up my last load soon and then I have decided to really scrub the bathroom YUCK but it must get done. I will let you know how I make out good luck getting your laundry done. I know those lazy days oh too well and most times I end up not getting done what I set out to. But like you said it will be there tomorrow. Have a great day Renee

Hey Renee, Good morning. I just got your email so hopefully shortly I will send you one back. Sounds like you had a fun day yesterday. Its so neat to see their faces excited. We went to Corpus Christi for Spring Break and my daughter got to see the beach for the first time and she loved it. I grew up in Biloxi, MS. I loved the beach its nice to just get away and have fun. We have friends who live in Panama, when we were little we used to go there and hang out. Anyhoo, so my laundry guess where it is still in the dryer from yesterday. I just had one of those days were I didn't feel like doing anything with the laundry. I said it'll be there tomorrow. So now I am three loads behind. So going to stick around house today hubby took the car so looks like a day of cleaning house and just being lazy. (lol). Have a great morning! Jennifer

Jennifer, We had a great day yesterday. Went to the beach and collected some shells, my mom makes baskets out of them and then lines them with material to give as gifts. Let the kiddies play in the water it was so funny to see Caylie play with a bucket in the water as the wave took it away she yelled for it and then laughed hysterically when the next wave brought it right back. Isn't it just so cute the littlest things create such amusement. Well I have some catching up to do with housework and laundry since I didn't do it yesterday. Hope you enjoy your day today any plans? Renee P.S. I am going to work on my water today I'll let you know how I did. Thanks for being there for me

I love getting clothes for free like that!
My sweet DH was so cute last night. He was leaning against the doorway of the laundry room while I pulled clothes out of the dryer, and told me he appreciated all the things I did for him. I told him I enjoyed taking care of him, even the laundry. Then he winked and thanked me ESPECIALLY for not hanging his clothes on the pink hangers. He's such a wiseacre sometimes.

Renee, LOL mine disappear too. My laundry thieves. Ugh the laundry. I was doing so good until yesterday. So making up for it today. I have a load going right now. My hubby being the sweet person he is finish it on Friday when I was at the gym. I came home and it was done. He said that way I didn't have to do anything on the weekend. But with four people you know how it is. He went and worked on the race car yesterday and so I have a load and half. I hope you are having a good day and a good weekend. They go by to fast. Jennifer

My laundry is in the hampers. The only goal I have set for myself this year is that nobody ever has to ask for clean underwear. Since we all have two weeks' worth, so far it's been an easy goal to maintain. Since I work at home, I generally try to get it all done one day a week, and change both beds at least once a week. I can live with dirty clothes in the hamper, but I gotta have fresh sheets. I think I sleep better!

Today is a no laundry day. I'm caught up, so a day of rest until tomorrow :)
Last night, I put away laundry, so no searching through mountains to find clothing in the morning.
One thing that helps motivate me when it gets bad is to remember that it usually takes less than 15 minutes to put it all away.

Jennifer, Yes we are getting some things done YIPPEE got some extra time to track food and say hello... We are also setting up a business so I am working on that currently. Just wanted to keep in touch. Btw my laundry has sat in the dryer for the past day and a half... EEK Best to all Renee

Yes I think I will have to change the way I do laundry. Well the folding anyway. I always have two baskets there, one empty to put the folded clothes in. What my son (22months)likes to do is put the clothes from one basket into the other. I do always praise him so now he thinks he's a great little helper. I think I will just get a third basket and he can just keep passing the unfolded back and forth.
And as for bragging. My daughter (3 1/2) has a chart which she earns stickers for. One of the things is to put any dirty clothes that she finds anywhere into the laundry room. She's great at that. And both my kids love to help put the clothes into the dryer and hand the dirty to me to put in the washer. I agree that if I get them to keep helping and make it fun they will hopefully continue to do so.
Hilarious about the husband and the socks!! Mine is the worst for that. I have asked him nicely and not so nicely so many times but he still has to be reminded. I say it's enough that I wash his clothes, I shouldn't have to stick my hand inside his dirty stinky socks (he has a dirty outside job). I said I'm going to start putting them in the garbage, he said go ahead. And I know he would just go buy himself new socks. Oh men, gotta love them.
Have a great day everyone!

okay, I leave all my laundry and do it all in one day, usually Mondays. I hate running back and forth to the washer and dryer all the time, so unless one of the kids wets the bed or something, i just save it up, and then I spend the whole day, washing, drying, folding, and putting away. If any is left to fold and put away in the evening, DH always asks if I want help, and I tell him, "No, you don't do it right."
You know that episode of "Everybody Loves Raymond" where he messes stuff up so Debra won't ask him to do it anymore. I think that is my husband. I have showed him 100 times how to fold the towels so that they fit in the cabinet neatly and he refuses to learn. So I just do it.
I did finally tell him that if he puts his socks in the laundry inside out, that is how he will get them back. The first time he had to right them before putting them on, I think he caught on. he doesn't do that anymore.
He is a good guy. He does the laundry every once in a while, but he always puts the kids stuff in someone else's drawers.
You guys are funny. I enjoyed going back and reading all the posts.

Audrey, That's cute. We all brag about our kiddos don't we. That's ok, we earned the right to brag. That is awesome if he is learning to do that. Keep up the bragging. We're moms we're suppose to. (wink)
Suzanne-How funny about your puppy. Its funny what little doggies do. They are still learning. Although its more for you.
Tracey-my little one likes to help in his own special way. So I figured out something. I give them one or two face towels and let them pretend that way I can fold really quickly and get it down. But sometimes I will just fold them right out of the dryer and leave put them in the basket before their little hands touch it if I am in a hurry. But when I am not I let my 2 1/2 year old help. I put the wet ones on the door of the dryer and she pushes them in. She gets a kick out of it. Plus, gets her out of the house while her bro sleeps. (w/d in the garage)
Missmyfigure-I know exactly want you mean. Trying to keep house with little ones is not an easy chore. I just let them play and right before daddy comes home I pick it up. LOL No sense cleaning up the toys they are just going to get back out. And for the laundry I have a load everyday. Never fails. But that's the life of a sahm.
Terri, hang in there your right your children and work are more important then the laundry and bill piles. Your doing a great job raising a family that's the most important.
Mdulzer-Your little girl is a cutie. I love seeing their faces light up when I bring in the basket. My daughter likes to help. My son just wants the basket to push around. LOL I dread the thought of having to fold but I do it anyway.
Renee-Hey, don't worry I know you have a lot on your plate. I'll be here. I hope you are having a wonderful week so far with hubby being home. Hopefully you are being able to get things done. Talk with you soon.

Just one load folded on the dryer waiting to be put away tonight.
On a related note, my 18 month old knows the difference between "light laundry" and "dark laundry". I hand him something and tell him to put it in the "dark laundry" basket, and he can! He's an amazing helper! (end of bragging mom moment)

Yes, he likes to help, He folds, goes out of the room to play and i refold some of it. But he is getting better cuz he is getting older. Don't discourage it, let them help it comes in handy later, they actually want to do housework. At least this has stuck with my son.

I have a very small laundry room, I try to keep up with it, shouldn't be any excuse since I walk by it 500 times a day. But......there are always clean folded clothes in all my laundry baskets waiting to be put away and therefore I have nothing to put the clothes from the dryer in. I have to admit, I have had to rewash clothes because they have sat in the washer too long, gross I know. But anyway, I am on a "get the house clean" streak so I start my laundry first thing in the morning and try to keep doing loads throughout the day.
By the way, does anyone else have kids who like to "help" fold the clothes, I find that very annoying. I fold, they mess, I refold, etc. Just my little pet peeve for the day.

| when my older 3 were younger i would seem to run myself ragged with trying to keep up the house. I found that I could wash and dry the laundry but getting it put away was a different story. I found that my playpen was a nice place to keep the clean clothes and i just would toss them in. Needless to say now that the 3 are older we get more accomplished since I have the oldest being responsible for the laundry chore.

Jennifer, Ah yes the old laundry basket. Something funny re: that my dad taught her to say basket case so now every time she gets her hands on one she tries to put it over her head and say Caylie basket case. OH the joys of potty training. Caylie is so independent that she will take off her clothes and diaper/pull up and try to go to the bathroom. Not to mention run around the house like that.. Well she missed the toilet and gave me another load of laundry to do... :) Gotta love them.

Ugogirl, Funny thing about our hubbys huh. I have to look at it at least he tried. But sometimes I have to laugh because I get frustrated because I can't find my workout clothes which I find stuffed into my panty drawer. He says are they in there?
Audrey, don't worry they'll get put away sometime. Taking care of your family and working is important. The little things like laundry can be taken care sometime.
Ron, I was thinking about what you said about biting your lip the other night so this weekend we both helped each other do the laundry. If I wasn't doing it he was so it got done together. Missed church yesterday because of the kiddos being sick. But watched a sermon on TV so it was kinda like I was there. Wow sounds like you were busy yesterday. Glad you had a good productive weekend.
Renee, I am so happy you had a good weekend with you and hubby. Funny thing about our two year olds. Mine does the same thing. I had a basket full on Saturday waiting to be put away and she wanted to play in the basket so needless to say they ended up on the floor. Guess she needed the basket really bad. LOL
Had a good weekend. Managed to get all the beds changed and washed up. Usually do it every five days but was behind this past week.
Have a great Monday everyone~ Jennifer

My laundry is in the washing machine. Put it in when I leave for work. To the dryer on my way in. Folded after little one goes to bed.

5 loads are folded in a basket waiting...

Hey everyone.. I am back from a quiet weekend with hubby. We got to go out both Fri and Sat nights and enjoy the relaxation of not being pulled in 50 different directions. Ok maybe only 10 LOL. With the kids gone I left a pile of clothes folded nicely on the chair ready to be put away as soon as they woke up and of course the two year old found it and decided she wanted to sit in that specific chair so over the pile went onto the floor..... UGH gotta love them. It really wasn't too bad most of it stayed folded and it wasn't like she rooted thru it first. She must have her name on that chair????? Have a great day Glad to be back Renee

| Went to Church this morning. Heard a great sermon. Came home and helped my wife clean up after yesterdays Princess B-Day party. It was my daughters not mine. Made out a grocery list. Went food shopping with the family. Came home and helped put everything away. 1st load has been washed, dried, folded, and get this, put away. 2nd load in the dryer. 3rd load in the washer. I did all this because I felt guilty about my wife having to do it. Yeah right! wink wink. Honestly though. I thought of you ladies and this thread as I was taking my clothes upstairs to the bedroom. I kind of laughed to myself and thought I better fold these right away or I'll never do it. Mrs PRESCOTT. Great Job on the weight loss. I want to be like you when I grow up. Its amazing that they don't feel guilty doing man things sometimes but we do if they have to help just a bit. What is up with that? Ron, It's great to see a man's point of view and an honest one to that. I feel terrible I wasn't feeling good yesterday and hubby had to do the laundry after a 12 hour shift. He said it had to be done so I felt guilty lying on the couch but he did it without saying anything. So hopefully he's quietness wasn't something else. I guess I was reading into it. I just felt guilty. Today's a different day. Thanks for your posts. Jennifer

| Yeah I tried that basket on my side of the bed thing. It didn't work for me. I kept kicking it when I would go to bed at night and for some strange reason my clothes still ended up on the floor. Some times NEXT to the basket. Thanks for the kind words about being a good guy LAURIE. I don't know about that I just think my wife trained me well at an early stage of our relationship. When we were dating we use to do our clothes together. Then as a typical male/pig I logically explained to her why she should do my laundry since she was already doing hers. Well the next thing I know all my OLD white underwear was now pink. Her excuse was that she didn't know how to do male clothes with a twinkle in her eyes. Ever since then I have done our laundry. So am I a good guy or have I just been properly trained? You know what else is funny is that I have the nerve to tell my kids to pick their clothes up off the floor. Hey you ladies have a great day and God Bless

I actually ENJOY the washing/drying of clothes. (Probably because the machines do all the work! Tee hee!)
I don't like folding, but I do it in front of the tv, which I usually try not to turn on (bad example for 2 year old son), so that ends up being a LITTLE BIT more of a treat.
Putting away? Oh boy! Terrible! I *ALWAYS* have clean, folded clothes stacked on top of my cedar chest. Then, I can't open the chest to get to sweaters. Arg!
I watched that show on TLC or Discovery Health about the family with 16 children. Their system is great: all clothes for all family members live on racks right next to the laundry. People go get their clothes in the morning from the laundry room.
I would do it, except my basement isn't finished and I'm afraid they will get cruddy...
We've done a "dry basement" system, so moisture problem is fixed. Maybe if I used those cheap wardrobes you assemble yourself so dust couldn't settle on my clothes? Hmm...
I think this system is for people who have single-story homes!

Hey All, Nice to see familiar names!!!! Hey Ron I can relate to the clothes on the floor. We have a basket right next to the bed yet my hubby constantly leaves his on the floor (his side of the bed) right next to the darn thing. I don't iron either but I am very particular about how I fold everything. Shirts get folded one way if they are put in his drawer another for my drawer it's all in the amount of space allotted for the item. I'm out of my mind I know. Have a great day guys...

| Well, moving slow today so mine in still in the hamper but when I get off here I am going to fold and start a new load...... Cindylouwho, I am the same way with the kiddos clothes. I hang all their clothes right after the wash. They tend to shrink for me on any setting so I just air dry them along with my shirts. So basically its all the other things being dried. But your right my other is usually wrinkled. (sigh) So I am working on that.

I quit folding! I hated my clothes with creases in them.
I bought 200 hangers and put up a rod above the dryer. I hang everything the moment it's dry, except for socks, towels, undies, etc.. No more ironing! :-)

Hi! I put a load in first thing in the morning that way I know it will get done. I'm with you Amber, I don't like folding either! LOL

I am washing a load right now. :) I don't do laundry every day or have a set day to do it. I did put away clean towels today but most of our clean laundry is in baskets waiting to be put away by their respective owners.

Cindylouwho, That is such a great idea. That way you can time your workouts. I love the sound of that rountine.
Mony924, that is helpful to have others helping you. I like your system. That really helps I bet.
I usually get the laundry to the basket and that's about it for the day. It tends to be put away the next day. I am terrible about putting clothes away the same day. I just never catch up like 4Amber sometimes but lately I have been really trying but lasp every once in a while.
Hollyd, it is frustrating when you have lots of laundry to put away, seems never ending. I am in the same boat sometimes. Sorry. Night ladies, Jennifer

My laundry is a group project - I may start a load in the morning - my MIL will put it in the dryer and fold while she watches the baby - then my hubby comes home at night & puts it away.
The same goes for the dishes!

| I've got a long table set up in our utility room and when I have a chance I fold clothes and put them there. That's as close to being "put away" as they get at our house. My husband is great at washing and drying clothes, but very rarely folds so I usually have a huge stack to fold. Sometimes it's very frustrating. But at least they're clean.

My husband and I don't have a problem getting the clothes washed and dried. It's the folding and putting away that gets us. We currently have 3 loads of clean laundry that need folding. It's horrible. We never get caught up!
I hate folding laundry.

| My washer/dryer are in the garage, by my elliptical machine and handweights. I put clothes washing/drying every morning, and set the dryer to 40mintues, then start working out. When it Buzzes! - I'm done and I'm ready to fold and hang clothes, right out of the dryer. :-)

I started a couple weeks ago doing a load of laundry right when I get up. It used to sit there before hubby would get home but now I love getting up putting a load of laundry in first thing and now I don't have to worry about it at the last minute. Before this to be honest I hated to do laundry. It's gotta get done but with a infant, two year who gets dirty playing outside and wearing panties now, hubby who works, and our gym clothes I have to get it done or it starts to stink. So Where's your laundry. Mine is in the folding basket just needed to be put away. But I already have one forming from today.
