Hi Shannon- I'm assuming you're talking about how cutting calories has reduced your breast milk supply? YES, your doctor is right on. When you're breastfeeding, it's definitely not the time to diet.
You should check out our sister site (also free) BabyFit.com for lots more breastfeeding information and support.
Also, since you're a vegetarian, you might be interested in checking out our thread Calling All Vegetarians. Maybe some of the moms in there also breastfed their kids and will have some advice.

| Hello there how are all of you? I'm pretty new here. Anyway I have a seven month old son. I had been doing very good on my diet counting my calories until I realized my son wasn't gaining weight. I talked to his doctor and they said instead of cutting down to 1500 I had to go all the way back up to 2500. I know its for the best but it sucks not losing the weight like I was. The hardest part is that I am a vegetarian and I am getting so bored with all of my food. I live in Reno and can you believe they don't have a single health food restaraunt. I am shocked at that. My husband and I plan on opening one with in the year so maybe working around healthy food will help me eat healthier. Well anyway I'm here now if you want to chat with me or something. let me know I'm always happy to talk about my son or your kids or good food. I am ecspecially happy to talk about all the damn Easter candy I can't eat.
