hi !! good luck !! maybe you could check out ways to deal with stress, like yoga, meditation or just an invigorating walk. and see if your son wants to join you. you don't have to tell him you know anything specific. life is hard and it helps to have some relaxing, calming, stress busting skills when you hit the bumps in lifes road . . . and it may help you both stop smoking ? let us know how you're doing.

Good luck on quitting, I'll be keeping you in my thoughts. I've been through the quitting already and know it's an uphill battle.
Two possibilities to deal with your son. First, get physically close to him one day after you quit and say something like, "wow, I smell cigarette smoke, I must be having flashbacks or something" Hopefully that will give him the oportunity to come clean with you and then you can both have a good talk.
The second is to lead by example. As you notice the positive changes in your body after quitting: you breath easier, things smell nicer, food taste better, your throat doesn't hurt all the time, etc..
let your son notice how much better you feel and he'll want to stop too hopefully.

Unfortunately I can't tell him I know. My boyfriend told me. Today I'm going to go cold turkey. Wish me luck. I love my kids and I don't want them to smoke.

That is really hard. All you can do is encourage the fact that it is an awful habit to start, and that is is much easier to not get addicted than to try to quit latter. He has watched you struggle to quite, so use that as a lesson on how hard it is. He knows that you love him and want what's best for him. Sometimes life is difficult when you are young though. Hope that helps a little...

O.K I have three teenagers 17,16,and 13.My oldest I'm closest with. I just found out he is smoking - the reason his girlfriend is stressing him out. I have been battling quitting for two years. I've been pumping in their head what a hard and bad habit it is sense the were little. I'm feeling really horrible I know it is my fault. My mom passed away in August from cancer. Maybe this will be the straw to break the camels back.
