Fun to read how everyone's doing!! We're stuck inside today because of rain. Poor kids had to spend 45 minutes under the tables at school for a tornado warning today!
Sticking to my plans so far this week... been reading the flylady site and starting some plans! We don't usually get too bogged down, but with summer coming I'll need a good routine (yet flexible to accomodate soccer, softball, swimming lessons, girl scouts, 4H, fairs, etc.. it's summer vacation right!). I think having the cleaning broken down into daily chunks will help so it's not an all day task- when you're lucky to find all day to do it.

Vowelmom- It sounds to me like you have a handle on it! Taking the things away is always a good incentive. Just don't be to easy on letting him get them back!
We have a small house, and since we have so many children, people love to give us toys. We give lots of them away!! But, the ones we keep can still get out of hand. There are somethings we want, but get tired of picking up. So here is what we do. We divide out the toys the kids are ACTIVELY playing with, and put the rest in the atic. Then a few months later we switch them around. The atic toys come down and others go into the atic. That way they seem almost new again, they don't have to lose toys they like, and we don't have to try to keep track of a ton of toys at any one time. Some toys are just naturally seasonal. Why pick up that ball and bat day after day when it is too cold outside to use it? If left out it gets thrown down when they are looking for something else. When it gets warm, bring it out and put up the stuffed animals. They don't like them as much in hot weather, they are more snuggle toys. I let them help with the sorting- so their favorites are out all the time. The kids really prefer it this way, since I make them do 100% of the toy pickup. They all see the benefit. It is funny really- the older ones are big on getting rid of everything. They like the house clean!! When Daddy brings home boxes of stuff from work( people know we are not offended by 2nd hand things- so they sent us everything!!)The older ones insist they sort it with the little ones in bed!" We don't want them to see a bunch of junk and want to keep it!!!!"

I am so proud of you and see your strength through all of this.
I lost my father to cancer last june, and that alone was hard enough for me. I couldnt imagine all the things you had to organize and manage at that time. I couldn't even take care of me! You are a strong woman, full of courage and honor, and your blessings are many!
If you ever need to talk, let it rip!
I dont really have anyone to talk to who understands what its like to lose a parent so early. Maybe you are in the same boat. Its been really hard for me, but getting better. I can imagine its been 4 x's as hard for you.
Well, on to our day....
we are cleaning house today. The little ones are up folding towels and jeans, and I cleaned out my 8 year old's room. I told him last night to clean his room, and if he didnt I would do it in the morning. He knows that when I clean his room, things get thrown away and stuff not taken care of properly, gets put away. Well, he stood his ground that he wasnt cleaning his room, so I cleaned this am.
He has very few things left in his room. We'll see if he can keep it clean now. I think if I can go in there on any given day, and nothing is on the floor, I will let him pick one thing back out of the box of takens. If not, I have him hand me whats on the floor, and it gets put away. That way it gets cleaned, and eventually I guess, he wont have anything at all in his room!

Thank You to everyone for the Birthday wishes for my little girl yesterday!!! I really appreciate it. She had a Wonderful Day and is so excited that she's 6! lol She got a beautiful doll house from my parents that she absolutely loves. (She loves anything from my Dad, they're the Best of Friends!)
I did well with the cake, only a small slice, I'm not a big fan of ice cream so that wasn't an issue, thank goodness! lol

| I'm glad that you liked that site. I'm with you my house has been "company ready" for the last week and it is so nice not to have to stress over trying to get everything done in one day. I truly believe it when flylady says you can do anything for 15 mins. Yesterday I tackled reorganizing my pantry and I was amazed at everything that I have in there. I shouldn't have to do any hardcore grocery shopping for a month (now that I know what I have). Keep up with the wonderful work you are doing.

| I am so happy for you!! It truly does make a hug difference to how you feel when the house is clean!! I can never relax with dirty dishes in the sink, and unfolded clothes. I am glad you are getting a handle on things. I am sure you have had to deal with so many things after the death of your mom. Hi everyone! Thanks so much for the fly lady tip, sara! It's the best thing that has ever happened to my family! Since losing my mother almost a year ago, I have moved to a bigger home, I have my two sisters, my grandmother and my aunt, plus my husband, baby, and me! Trying to get everyone to get this house together all the time has been quite a chALLenge for me, since I have been dubbed,"Household MAnanger!" What an icky role to have! I started doing this flylady thing the other day. The first thing she says is to scrub your sink clean. My kitchen sink is white, and shows everything, it's very annoying. So, yesterday, I scrubbed my sink with bleach, then brillo, and cleaner, then i dried it out, and it was beautiful. I am happy to say that my whole family has jumped on the bandwagon and have helped me to keep the sink clean! Amazingly enough, when the kitchen sink is gleaming, the whole kitchen stays gleaming too! Everyone is taking pride in that sink, and helping to keep it clean and dry all day! For 2 days so far. They say the only way to break a bad habit is to start a new one, and you have to repeat it 26 times to make it a new habit! Then you've got it. So everyday fly lady adds a few more things to my list of to dos, with lot's of fun, and easy ways to get the house done, while developing a routine that doesn't make you insane! Tons of little shortcuts!
I've also started making my 2 year old clean up her toys regualarly. Instead of allowing her to make 10 messes all over, I make sure she put's one toy away, before she takes out another. It's working out beautifully! My house has been immaculate for 2 days, no toys, no clutter. I'm simply amazed.
You don't understand the chaos my house has been in. My house before this one was clean, very organized. My Mother, Aunt and, grandmother lived in a 3 bedroom house with my 2 little sisters. It was always bursting at the seams with mail, and junk, kids stuff, and what not. When we merged I threw everything away, they didn't.
Of course, since my mother died, I didn't care about anything. We were schedule for closing on May 27 of 2006. When we found the house that would be big enough,we still had hope that we would fight with my mother till the end. We put her on hospice last mothers day and she died on may 17. The funeral was that sat, and we moved that friday. It was aweful, no one cared, no one wanted to do anything, the kids rebelled, the adultss were depressed. Iwas miserable for months. I am finally at the point where I have to move on. We all do.
The whole family is working towards a brighter tomorrow, and i am the leader. The one who has to push and motivate, plan and strategize. The diet was first, this family NEEDS to be healthy, we've got to raise these children with a very strong sense of who they are. And that starts here, with self confidence, and life skills. Maybe somewhere along the line I didn't get that. I am getting it now. I am trying to change, for me, for my daughter, my sisters, my husband. I want to be a better wife, mother, housekeeper, person. I want them to be confident enough someday to be all that too.
I'm taking leaps everyday. Making our house a home, I'm starting with the foundation, the structure. Our life is going to be good, healthy, carefree, fun, and full of love. That's my goal. Anything I can do to better myself and my family life, I will do. I guess I'm starting over. I've got the menu planning down with the diet, Now I'm working towards reorganizing my day to get more into it, then I will have lot's of room for exersize, relaxion, and maybe some me time. I woul love to curl up with a book! Thanks so much for all your wonderful advice, everyone, it really helps me to stay motivated. With me motivating so many others, I NEED, the extra boost!

Punk fell asleep before he had lunch so I will have it ready for him when he wakes up. Maybe he will actually eat it if he is hungry enough. We are going to go outside later, it is sunny and almost 50 here in NWPA today. Hopefully I can tire him out and he will sleep all night. Wishful thinking on my part.

Took the kiddos to teh park yesterday and walked around the track just in case I didn't get to go to the gym. But I did. The kiddos let my husband and I have sleep last night. Today is my little girl's 6th Birthday!!!
Boy, time does go by so quickly! She is a sweet and caring little girl. I'm very proud of the kind of child she has become.(my son on the other hand is another story!~lol)
We have another beautiful day here today! Yay!! I have to go bake her cake and then get outside to do some yard work. I see some of my bulbs starting to pop up! I love Spring!!

I have been a member of Flylady for a little over a year, it has only been the last few months that I have really gotten into a routine though. Right now I stay at home with my 5 month old and have been thinking about going back to school. Since I havent been as faithful to spark as I could be, I set a goal. If I can continue to count calories and exercise and actually accomplish weight loss then I feel I can stay commited to school. I am looking at 2 online classes this summer and then a full schedule starting in fall.
I keep forgetting everything I have read on the previous posts lol

Hello Ladies!
How is everyone's day going so far? Mine has been good. Went outside to play with my little ones since the weather is beautiful here. Had some lunch and now making plans to go out shopping for my little girl. Her 6th B-day is tomorrow!!! I can't believe she's already 6. Time goes by so quickly.
As for diet and exercise, all is well on that front. I weighed in at 119 last Saturday. I'm still losing and increased my cal.'s 2 weeks ago.? Hopefully it all levels out. I don't want to look sickly.

Good afternoon ladies,
Welcome to the new mommies on this thread. I usually workout when the kiddos are content. I have a 2 1/2 year old and a nine month old. It's been hard lately but what I do is when the little one is sleeping and I can't make it to the gym I do my walk away the pounds videos with my 2 1/2 year in tow. We have a great time together. So it makes my workouts better. And I do the strength exercises on sparkspeople under fitness. Its really neat. Even if you don't have weights or stabilty ball. There are exercises on there you can do. I really recommend those. Welcome again.
Barbara~I found out they have a 5 mile on walk away the pounds. Very excited. Still looking for a cheap one. I did the walk away the pounds for abs while I was in texas on the three mile. I loved it. So interested in doing the four or five. You like your four right? Anyhoo, have a great day. Sounds like fun with your garden. My mom usually plants one, but last year she didn't. I planted tomatos though. I love things fresh from the gardens.
Ladies, I am sorry to hear about some kiddos. I hope they have a better day today. Just remember to breath. We'll get through this together. Miss hearing from all. Irish30 how are you today. Good Morning Ladies. A good resource for starting a schedule is www.flylady.net. Her thing is your home did not get this way in one day and its not going to get clean in a day. I have only been doing this for a couple of days and I can not believe the difference it has made. I don't follow everything that is there, but, I have incorpoated a few things, like meal planning and setting the timer for 15 minutes and having a race with my daughter do see who can get the most things picked up (we both have a lot of fun doing this). And like I said I just have been doing it for a couple of days and my life seems a little calmer already.

| Hello ladies! I am a new stay at home mom of twin boys, Brody & Reilly. They are 5 months old. I am trying to get them and myself on a schedule but can't figure out where to start. I want to add in a work out somewhere in the day so I cn lose some weight. How do you wonderful ladies do it? Where do you get the energy and the time? I work weekend nights so I do not have a weekend to devote to housework. So all my work is done during the week.

Good morning. It is so nice to have the weather warming up. I didn't even need a coat when I went to church on Sunday.
Our whole family has coughs and some have colds too. My son's eardrum burst again yesterday. He has had problems since he was little. It was draining and bleeding this morning.
My husband is going in for rotator cuff surgery tomorrow morning. He will be off work for 2-3 weeks following surgery and 6 weeks in a sling. He has been in so much pain for months I'm hoping he recovers quickly and completely.
I worked on lesson planning this morning and let the exercise fall by the wayside again.
Well, I need to get started with the kids on school. Have a great day.

Good morning ladies! So nice to hear from so many of you yesterday! I had a big day. We started getting the garden ready to plant. It is soooo nice to get to be outside again!! I started sewing on the dresses for my girls. I got all the side seams done. Now to get the top pinned. I think the pinning takes more time than the actual sewing!
Keep up your scheduled ladies. I am so glad that has helped some of you. I know I get much more done when I have a plan, than if I just skim through the day. Be sure to put having fun on your schedule too! Our children really do change quickly, and they will forget the fun things you do if they are FAR apart. Have some fun everyday with them!! Motherhood is so many things all at the same time. We need to keep our homes clean, so we have a feeling of calm in our enviroment. We need to plan and cook good food for the health of our bodies and those we love. But we need to be the sunshine in their lives too! A husband who comes home to happy smiling faces is a happy man! Children who grow up having fun, being helpful and covered in kisses are happy adults!! You are shaping a whole person with every thing you do ladies! | I have been having trouble getting the exercise I need. I keep thinking, if i only had a treadmill, If I only had an ab lounger, if I only lived in town and could justify going to curves... and on and on. If anyone has any tips on exercising at home with an exercise ball, let me know... I feel really "awkward" doing so many of the exercises and I am here with my 4 yr old nephew!! Everyone here seems to be really motivated to lose weight, I think that is great.

TOmorrow is Mother's day out my son goes to school for six hours at a private school for 6 hours. It is great it gives me time to catch up on everything. Hello everyone. I hope veveryone is doing well! I am doing even better today. I had a pretty good recovery. I'm feeling great, already. I'm not quite ready to exersize, but by next Monday(maybe sooner)I'm going to start walking. I found a walking program on this website, it was under resource center, in the diet and exersize articles. You start with 15 min of walking a day for a week and then move up ea. week until your at 40 min of exersize 3 days a week. I'm going to do it by day though, so ea. day that I walk I'll walk a few more minutes. I'm going to start off walking with becca in the stroller, and we'll end up at the park to play. The weather is getting nicr and nicer ea day.
Well, I did a couple of loads of laundry(I'm not carrying anything though) and made the beds. I'm really pooped, and a little sore. I'm going to go rest while the baby is napping. Have a great day, and keep those great tips coming! I'm learning so much from all of you guys. Pretty soon I'll be a supermom like Barbara! LOL!

I have been having trouble sticking to an exercise/diet routine. I have found a GREAT website to get your house more organized.... www.flylady.com
I swear by it. I have my beds made and I actually get dressed with my hair and makeup (most days). I have a 5 month old baby and watch my 4 year old nephew during the day. I just wish I could get more motivated to exercise and actually pay attention to what I am eating. It is really difficult for me when the fridge/cabinets and so readily available. I will eat one thing and then just say "I messed up today, maybe tomorrow will be better" and just give up. I am looking for some friends to help me stay on track.

Good Morning Everyone,
Well I have been a sahm for about 2 years now and I have always just went along with the flow and never set up a routine. After reading previous posts I decided to give it a try. Boy has it made a huge difference. I get up and get the beds made, start a load of laundry, empty the dishwasher from the night before, start supper (have been using my Crockpot alot lately), eat breakfast, exercise and shower all by 10:30. My dd has also been enjoying this because she loves to help mom and I noticed she hasn't had a huge melt down since I started doing this. Our days are definitly a lot more fun filled. So thanks for the wonderful advice.

I am home today for a bit. We sat the guinea pigs from my 8 year olds class since thursday, so we had to bring those back in this am. We had fun with them, but glad we only had them for a while. ;)
My almost 3 year old is sitting on the floor throwing a tantrum. He's definately the one to give us a run for our money.
I went to curves this am, its such a great way to start the day!
I'm going to go see if I can pull this tantrum out of him. Get him to focus on something different.

Hello Ladies, hope everyone had a great day. I am recovering from surgery, and doing quite well. I feel better, I really do. 
They found a couple of adhesions, one was very large and had a couple of organs attached. The other, was my c-section scar, it had turned into an ugly adhesion, the adhesions were causing a great deal of pain. The cysts that were in my ovaries 2 weeks ago, when i had a cat scan and unltra sound were gone. It's possible they ruptured, adding to the pain of the last few weeks, or just went away on there own.
Then they found allot of Pelvic congestion? My doctor even said she had never seen this before, had heard of it, but didn't believe it. Apparently it's sort of like varicose veins you get in your legs, only it's growing on your pelvic walls. They fill with blood, and since theres no main vessel that runs to your heart from this area, the veins swell to the point of severe pain. Apparently I have a great deal of these. They think between this, and the adhesions, this is what has been causing my pain. I'm not sure how we are handling this new thing yet. I'll follow up with the doc on the 20th.
The good news is that my endometriosis was barely present. Here they thought they were going in to clean up the endo, and there wasn't but one spot! This means no hysterectomy in my near future, and I can most likely reproduce. Doc said my ovaries and falopean tubes were beautiful. I can now stick with my plan I had before all this pain started a few weeks ago. That plan is to start trying for another child in September, after my sisters wedding! I'm elated because I truly feel as though I was born to be a mother. I do however need to be a healthy one. So from this point forward I am going to do everything I can to get to my goal weight before sept.
Not just for my sisters wedding, but so that I can achieve a healthy pregnancy. My last pregnancy was pretty bad. I had pre-eclampsia. If I lose weight this time around I will be less likely to have this occur again. So, I am working towards getting in shape for my daughter who needs me now, the sisters who count on me everyday, the children I will have in the future, as well as to look great in that Matron Of Honor dress!! Why not achieve it all if i can right?

I had pizza yesterday too! Only cheese though! And guilt set in and I added extra cardio to today. I think it was well worth treating myself to something yummy. I easily fall off track when I feel deprived of the things that the rest of my family can enjoy!

Well ladies, I fell off diet wagon today. PIZZA with all the trimings. It was ssssooooo good and satisfying I think I can move on now, my craving is gone. I lost 11 pound so far. So I bought myself a pair jean has a reward. Hope every one is well.

A little more about me--
My family moved to rural NE just about a year ago. It's been an adjustment for me after living in Colorado Springs. We are trying to slow our lives down a bit after 7 years of being a Cops wife it was time for a change. But in moving, while we've gained a lot we've lost a lot! I no longer have weight watchers or a gym! Not to mention leaving friends. Slowly, I'm putting things back together and this has been a great find for me! I'm finally putting my weight at the front of my to do list and the tools on this site have been a great help.
I would love to be a part of your group- hopefully I can contribute something helpful occasionally!

Good morning ladies! Sorry about the lack of attention I have had here. You were in my thoughts and prayers though! I had to have dental work done. I had an old filling crack and it went clear to the nerve. I had to have a root canal yesterday. Yuck!! But I am on the mend!! Yea!!
I am a day behind in my shopping though, so this will be a town day for me. So.. I will not be back on here until this evening, but please- if you have any questions for me, post them, and I will try to answer you tonight! I really do love to answer questions. Can you see why I love homeschooling all these children?! It gives me plenty of opportunity to talk!!!!

hello to all the new members!
the boys are feeling better now, so I should be a little more sociable now. I think I pulled/strained something in my neck on Monday. So, I skipped my workout yesterday so I wouldn't hurt it anymore. Now, I have to get back on track tomorrow.

Good afternoon everyone! I'm feeling a bit better today. I had another rough night, but once I got and showered I felt better. Surgery is tomorrow and I'm actually very excited! I know that sounds wierd, but at this point I'm dying for relief! It's beautiful outside, 55 degrees. I have spring fever, so bad, but I'm bedridden. I can't wait to feel good again so I can take becca to the park!
I'm eating better today, I had breakfast, and lunch. I can't seem to tolerate vegetables lately, but I'm trying to eat fruit. Well, I'll let you all know how I feel next week when I'm felling a bit better. Have a great weekend everyone, and thanks again for the support!
DNALLIVAH- I hope your spider situation gets taken care of quickly. That sounds scary!! Good Luck!
DIANNED - I'm glad to hear your mother is making progress. I know it's hard hang in there. I'll check in with you when I am feeling better after surgery.

Ugh, gonna be one of those days! I got bit by a spider the other day (Thank goodness it wasn't my 7 month old!!) and so the pest control people will be here.
Apparently my house is infested with black widows underneath...I'm just relieved it wasn't one of those that bit me! YIKES!

vitaleh, my mother is getting better every day !! its just been so hard, for several weeks after her surgery, she couldn't talk or move her right side. her speech is improving and she's getting stronger. thanks for your encouragement, prayers and support!

I know how you feel in the hubby dept. My gets more sullen and depressed each day that he has to go to the job he hates. I think it is the stress of trying to support the family and find a better job. I also know that when they feel helpless they get the same way. Your hubby loves you and I am sure he is feeling helpless that he cannot do more for you and take away the pain. Frustration is hard. Prayers that your surgery is successful and for your family. Hang in there.

Good afternoon ladies, it's almost 5:00PM. My day is shot. I had a very bad day, I woke up in agony. I've been taking 2 percocets every 4 hours. My husband finished his day up early to come home and care for Rebecca. She realy wants her Mommy though. I feel so bad for my little angel, but she is so patient, just like her mommy. She'll bring her toys to the bed, and read me stories! Last night, my husband told her my belly hurt, and that I was sick, so she went and got me her favorite animal, which she nicknamed months ago momma bear. She is so sweet, such a thoughtful child already, she kisses my belly all the time. If one of my sisters hugs me too close to my belly she shouts,'NO mommies, Bellie hurts!" I want my life back so I can be Mommy again!
I wish my husband were as patient as my child. He seems so annoyed by my being sick so long. I'm not sure what to do about it. He's not very empathetic at all. He's never been this way before. He used to be so nurturing and supportive. Since our family has gotten larger he seems so hard all the time.
I ate what I could today and I'm trying to drink water, and follow the nutrition part of my plan even though I am not feeling well, but all i could manage was toast. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. It's will be the day before surgery. I may not be posting for a little while, so I'll let you know how things turn out when I can.
I agree that a list can make the day easier. It will also help you to stay focused on a new schedule, until you get used to it. Eventually the everyday will become routine. I still need lists for the doctors appointments, bills, and extra household chores. Every Firday I make a list of chores, and give everyone in the house a room. Sat morning we each tackle our rooms, so the house gets a good scrub down every week. I rotate the list, everyweek so we can all have a chance to do each room. I'm still learning as I go, so any tips for keeping it all together will be much appreciated! My problem seems to be keeping the older kids motivated to do there chores, and keep their rooms clean! | Wow, I'm so sorry about your mother, I know how hard it is. My mother seemed like she was gone long before she really was. Thank God your mother made it through the surgery. There is still a chance that she can come back to you, right? I hope so, I will pray for you and your family, I hope each day you see a little glimpse of the mother she once was. I find myself making lots of lists and crossing things off as well. I make a list every day of things I need to get done.
Its nice to see how everyone does things, its a good way to pick and choose what might work better at your own home.
The boys and I went out snowmobiling this morning, it was great fun. To see your 8 year old so independant and growing and learning....its such a rush!
We are all going to go take naps now. I told my oldest son he couldnt come with me to clean (I clean offices 2 times a week) unless he took a nap today. Worked like a charm!

I find myself hoping on here in the morning and at night just to see how things are going with everyone. I hope you know that we are all here for you no matter what you have to say. I thought I was the only one to make lists. I am glad I am not. I have found out if I don't make a list I don't get hardly anything done. But, when I make a list I go down the list and check them off when they are done. So, I always have a starting and an ending point.
Hope everyone is well and to all the ladies keep up all the good work . Just remember you are the one in charge of your own life and you should always do something for yourself.

Dianne- yes I keep to a schedule most days. I think newlife is right, you will have to find what works with your family. I do think you need a set time to get up and go to bed. And children really need that. They will be happier and healthier if they get enough sleep. Bed time is set in stone at our house. Hubby insisted on that years age. It has proven to be a HUGE blessing to us.
Make yourself some charts. First list all the things you want to do EVERYDAY. As you get them done put a star by it- you will find it it a great satisfation to see the stars grow on that list! Then make a chart of things that need done weekly. Divide it by five. Now do one part of that list each day, as you get it done put a star by it. Now one more chart- things that need done- but only once- like rearranging the kitchen, bathroom,garage etc. Now try to fit one or two of those things in each week. Once they are done cross them off. (I hope this doesn't bore anyone to death- but I remember being a new mom. I was young and it seemed HARD at first! )
So my list of daily things might look like this:
Get up and dressed
breakfast
dishes
start washer
start dryer
fold clothes
put up laundry
lunch
lunch dishes
clean bathroom
sweep
pick up toys
empty trash
Supper
supper dishes
Now I might do those in any order, but as they are done I put a star by it. You can see how much you have done that way. Motherhood is not for wimps!!!! We do many wonderful things each day!!
And one more hint. Turn off the TV! That will waste SO much time!! DO put on some HAPPY- I REPEAT- HAPPY music!! It will make you feel like getting up and moving. Sing while you work and talk, talk, talk to that baby!! Tell him every thing you are doing. My husband always tells people our kids are so smart " because Barbara babbles to them all the time!!" don't be sorry about the long posts, i love them !! i really appreciate the advice. my mother had surgery to remove a brain tumor january 24th. although she has been slowly recovering she is far from what she was. i have spent many nights and days crying because i miss her so . . . i didn't realize it but i needed her so much and i hope i can be for her what she has always been for me. thanks for your story, you are an inspiration. have a great day !
