Good morning ladies! I don't think that moving will help at all. I have dial up also, and it is slow, but I am part of a board that has over 9 thousand posts, and it is no slower than this one. I don't mind if you move, but I just think it will not make any difference. Sorry. If you decide to try it, just let me go with you though. I would hate to lose track of you!! Have a great day. I am off and running already! hugs, Barbara

Good afternoon!!
I was just checking in to see how everyone was today. It took me 3 1/2 minutes to load this topic bc there are so many replies. How about if the first person on tomorrow leaves a message here to go to the new "STAY AT HOME MOMS" thread and start a new one?? We can just all go there??
What do you all think?

Good morning beautiful Mommies, I hope all of you had a good weekend. Very busy around here. We had a good weekend despite the weather being rainy and cold.
Sweetangelsong, I will keep your daughter in my prayers. You are one proud Mama I can tell. (wink)I am so happy for you that you get to be home with your children.
Lisa-That is awesome about getting him potty training. Yeah for him. You know its the best feeling in the world when we see our little ones excited about a milestone. I am very happy for you and that you got to get some spring cleaning in as well.
Barbara-Good Morning to you. How is your garden going? Its been raining here so looking forward to getting to the farmer's market soon and getting some tomato plants and maybe a few flowers to spice up my front. We are having a terrible time with these pesty ants they are everywhere so I think the last resort is going to have to spray gas. The spray only works so much.
Chele-That is awesome you got to go and won a tshirt, sounds like fun. Wow seven strikes in a row is great. I'm jealous. I am very happy you had a good time and got some "me" time.
Sunflower-You amaze me. Its wonderful that you can get things provided to you that you need.
Renee-Good Morning, how's it going this morning so far. How are the babies?
I know a lots been going on but we have had some mommies disappear. Laurie and Newlife5 I hope you are doing ok. Sure miss you both.
Well, off to do my daily chores. Have a great day today ladies and make sure you drink your water. Jennifer

Good monday morning everyone! We have had a great weekend!
I started AA potty training on Thrusday. He has done as good as can be expected. I just roll with it. He loves the stickers (THANKS BARBARA!!!), and likes wearing underwear. He can even nap in them. He wanted to wear underwear to bed last night, but I wouldnt let him. lol
We also made up charts for chores. Why didnt I do this sooner??? Thanks again Barbara! Our place was so clean and organized this weeked! I had time to spring clean the basement, while everyone else did everything I use to do! and they loved it!
I hope everyone has a wonderful day! Its cloudy and cool here, but I dont mind. I still have some cleaning in the basement to do (say lots of "stuff" to donate LOL!).
Talk to you all soon!

| SUNFLOWERMOM5: I am from Jacksonville.... Been here most of my life. I have only practiced photography at home but have thought about studying the art. Anyway glad to hear you have some vision. I am sure you are a wonderful photographer. You most really appreciate it with being legally blind and all. Sometimes we do not know what we have until we lose it.. I strive to enjoy the little things in life. The birds singing. The sunshine. The wonderful sound of the rain falling outside. The wonderful feel of raindrops on my face. The quiet of the evening. The serenity of the stars that shine at night. What a wonderful world God has given us. KEEP TAKING THOSE PICTURES AND LOVING IT.

Just saying hi. Been a few since I have posted. I get very busy. I have one daughter graduating 3rd in her class so we have been busy with graduation and senior prom next week and SAT and ACT. We live in Florida so she has already qualified for the 75% college scholarship now we are just trying for the 100% scholarship. She needs about 160 additional points on her SAT to qualify for the full scholarship. She has one more chance at testing, SO PLEASE PRAY FOR HER. Her name is Angela. THANK you.
Staying at home has been so rewarding but I think it is one of the most difficult things I have done. Sometimes I do not know how things functioned when I was working. I am an ex-postal worker so I worked crazy hours. I have been home now for 1.5 years and still have alot of catching up to do. These kids grow up so fast and I know I am blessed now just to be able to see each milestone. I think of what I would be missing if I worked.
Sometimes I pray God will give me a creative mind and open a door for a home business but nothing yet. I really enjoy photography, and genealogy. I have followed my heritage into Arkansas last October we made a trip there to a small town outside Hot Springs. There are 3 generations buried there in a historical grave yard. It is so amazing. I really would like to do this full time.
Anyway if there are any Arkansas people out there near Hot Springs let me know. BE BLESSED ALL MOMMYS AND HAVE A BLESSED AND HAPPY DAY.

Good morning ladies!!
Today is 50 and sunny so far at 9:15 here in NWPA.
I did get to go for my weekend with the ladies and bowl. Our team didn't do so well but my 2nd game was a 233. I had 7 strikes in a row and won a house award (t-shirt) from the lanes we bowled at and will get several other awards for it as well. I can't wait. One of the ladies won $75 and that paid for her whole trip. Next year they told me I could bowl with them also. It will be in Johnstown PA. I am already looking forward to it.
Hope everyone else had a wonderful weekend.
I think the idea of starting a new SAHM thread is good. I live in the boonies and have old, slow dialup. I usually go get coffee while mine is loading.
Have a happy and healthy day!!

Good morning Ladies, Looks like another day of yucky weather but I am not going to complain. We have been under a burn ban almost 5 months. So its good to get much needed rain. The kiddos are in a great mood today. I didn't want to get out of bed this morning wanted to sleep but that's never happens. LOL Two little one's need me. My daughter comes in my room every morning and says Good morning Mama, I love you and when I walk into my kids room and there is my son smiling away what a wonderful way to wake up. He is in the stage where if you talk with him he waves. So I walk over to him I say good morning and he laughs and waves. Makes my wanting to sleep less inviting.
Renee-I am so happy you are getting your water in. That is great. I am so proud of you. I returned your email. You know our girls are the same way. Mine is a perfect angel well to me she is during the day (she does have her moments but who doesn't and by all means she isn't perfect) and sometimes when daddy comes home she runs wild. I look at her sometimes and say where did you come from at the way she is acting while daddy is around. HMMMMM...... Have a great day and glad you get to relax today. That sounds like a good idea.
Have great Friday! Jennifer

Good Morning All I am actually getting back into my usual routine. Hubby went back to work and all systems are go. It's so funny to see how the oldest 2yo acts when daddy is home and when he's not. Boy do they test us!!! Daddy is a little strickter with behavior and punishment but it seems like she is more defiant when he's here. Go figure???? My housework is almost all done already I will have the rest of the day to relax after some exercise. I have been drinking my water WOO HOOO
Jennifer; Yes I am so happy things are in order now. I sent you an email @yahoo so when you get a chance no hurry. I will send you another cute one later in the day from my hotmail address so look out for that it's not junk. LOL
It's gorgeous out today another 90 degree day. Hope you all enjoy your day wherever you are

Good morning ladies, hope all is well with you this morning. Looks like another day for rain here so its going to be play inside day with the kiddos.
Linda-That is great your meeting went good and you are feeling more comfortable. I am so proud of you for taking that step forward.
Barbara-You always have great advice. I like reading your posts. Thanks for always helping.
Chele, I hope you get to go. I am sorry that its not planning out like you wanted it to. Hopefully you will find out good news today.
Lisa-I am so excited for you and your son going potty. I love to see my daughter's face when she does. She has been potty trained since January but we still do the peepy/poopy dance. Everytime she goes potty I dance and clap like she just recieved award on stage. I get excited because I want her excited to know that she did a very good thing. Like Barbara I did the stickers. I got a goodie bag full of small things toys, tootsie rolls and things like that. When she goes I let her reach in and grab whatever she is going to get. Makes her day. That is fantastic.
Amy-Welcome, I am so glad you are hear. SAHM is a really neat thread and very motivating. These ladies motivate me to be a better mommy and healthier one too. If I can help you in anyway just let me know. Welcome again.
Renee-hey, how are you today? Its been a bit, I hope your household is getting back to normal with hubby back to work.
Ladies have a very good day today. Just hanging out today trying to catch up on my emails. I go one day and I get so behind.

Good morning ladies!!
Sunny and 57 here in NWPA this morning. We have Baseball practice tonight so Punk and I will get our 30 min walk in while practice is going on.
Supposed to go away this weekend to bowl in a tournament (there is a group of 12 of us that go every year). Last night I got a call and at least 4 of them don't want to go. They found out prom is this weekend and 2 have kids going (they are freshmen). Two of them had a death in the family 2 weeks ago and just don't feel like it. Oh yeah, and they all claim they have no money. We have planned this every year and sent the info in Dec. Each week one of the ladies will take payments towards the room and bowling fees. Some pay and some wait until we go. The room is usually split between 4-5 ladies so it is only $15-20 per night for the suites we get. I was really hoping to go but 3 of the ladies are the others on my 4 person team so I have no team going. One is from another team so I may be able to sub in on that team so they can still bowl and me too. I really needed this time away to quit thinking about another baby and have some adult female companionship. I'll be making phone calls today as soon as 9AM gets here. Maybe I'm not meant to go???
Amy - Welcome!! It's nice to see more smiling faces here everyday.
Lisa - WooHoo on the potty trick! Barbara reminded me I have 2 packs of those shiny foil stars in the office. I am going to make a chart for peein'. That Firecracker thing must have something to do with the year they were born. Maybe Chinese year of the Monkey or Dragon?!?! Punk certainly has his days, I just keep thinking, what did I ever do to deserve a child that acts like this??? Most days I am pulling my hair out. I have cut way back on his sugar, his grandmother thinks she should give him candy all the time but he hasn't seen her in a couple of days bc she is sick. I love him more than life but sometimes I don't like him much. Bc of the way he acts my hubby says he cannot stand to have another like him. It's like a vicious circle.
Linda - Yuuuuuck!!! LOL!
It's getting close to 9 so I need to finish up on here. Have a happy and healthy day!

Good mooooooorning!
Its nice that you have jumped aboard Amy! You too sound like a busy momma! You are just gonna love this place!
LInda, Puke on the head! How fun! LOL
Thanks Barbara for the sticker hint! I think that will work with him. Funny I brought this up yesterday, not long after I posted about it, I heard him run into his room and shut the door....that means he's either into something he shouldnt be, or he's going poop. Well, he hadnt started yet, so I asked him if he wanted to poop on the toilet. He said no at first, so I shut the door, and a few seconds later, he came out and said he wanted to sit on the toilet. I got him a book to read, and would't you know he pooped! he was so proud! I was so proud. I think I will get all set up for tommorow, and after waking, he will get underwear.
I have another issue with this one. Do any of you have strong willed firecrackers? I thought my other two had these issues, but I guess I hadn't seen anything yet. I left him with our babysitter for an hour and a half, and while I was gone, he was really naughty. He was slamming doors, breaking toys, telling our sitter he was going to slam her head off, and if she told me, he was going to say that she hit him! I cant believe the things this 2 year old thinks up! Keep in mind he doesnt do this with a vengeful voice...he's thinking its funny. He's always very sorry and sincere after he's done wrong. He's also very intelligent...to smart for his age right now. He speaks in full sentances, paragraphs, and speaks very audible. I know he was putting her in her place, to see how far he could get with her, but it makes me feel horrible! He also didnt have a nap yesterday, so I hope that was just part of it. Anyways...Barbara, anyone....got any words of wisdom for this Forth of July special? He's really been my biggest parenting test thus far.
You all have a wonderful day, and do something today you wouldnt normally do. Get the finger paints out...and let the kids go nuts! Use shaving cream! I am gonna do that. We have some old shower curtains, I am going to get out the shaving cream and let them go to town!
Lisa

Welcome to the board, Amy! I have to say how cool it was to see a braille keyboard. A woman I know through work uses it, and I'd visited her office and saw it. What I wish I'd asked about then is how does she read or know what's on the screen. Would you mind sharing?
Had a lovely day here. I went to my Overeaters Anonymous meeting this evening and am feeling more and more at home and am happy to be getting to know others in the group. It's amazing how much weight these people have lost and perhaps most importantly, kept off for years and years. Very inspiring for me who's lost before but always puts it back on (plus some, just for good measure! :-))
Good night all!

| Welcome Amy. I stay at home with 5 children also. Keeps us going for sure. Have you been blind since birth?? Does this make things harder for you? I am sure that you manage very well but raising children is definately a challenge to say the least. My children are 21, 17, 12, 11, 9 and 1.5 years old. I only have the younger 5 at home though. I commend all the moms who stay at home. I worked for a long time but resigned when the baby came along. I knew this is where God wanted me. WELCOME AGAIN AND GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR DIET GOALS.

Lisa asked about "days like that"...They are fewer and farther between now, but I had some doozies. One of my faves was when I was wiping up some spill off the floor after breakfast but hadn't taken my toddler out of the high chair yet, and she proceeded to vomit right on top of my head. My quiet joke to myself that day was, "OSHA would never approve of this situation!" My dh used to joke at times that I was qualifying for "hazard pay".
I loved the occasional days when he'd take a vacation day to cover home duties while I did something else and things would be a little more hectic than typical. For example, a day he'll always remember involved getting our oldest off to school for 3rd grade. He was to fill in for my volunteer duty in our son's kindergarten class, which was to introduce in a fun way, a set of stories that related to animals, and take our youngest to preschool prior to doing the kindergarten presentation.
All was going along swimmingly, so much so that when a friend called to ask if he could give her kindergartener a ride to school so she could get her toddler into the only doctor appointment available at their clinic, he agreed. He'd forgotten about the plumber who was scheduled to come in the morning, and who arrived quite late (what else is new, right?) and just as he was headed out the door to get the afternoon rolling (preschool drop off, and kindergarten drop offs to 2 different schools and off to do the presentation.) Other than our kindergartener being tardy, all was fine, but a great example to him of how you "roll with it."
As for me today, I plan to stay close to home as one of our cars is having a punctured tire repaired and a furniture repair guy is due between 10 and 2pm. I can catch up on some house and yardwork in the meantime, as well as plan my upcoming art appreciation lesson for my 2 youngest kids' classrooms and one of my girl scout troop's upcoming camping trips. It's beautiful outside after 4 days of solid rain, so a walk without rain will be a real treat!

Good morning ladies! Ha! I am potty training right now too!! LOL!! I have done the same thing with all of mine and it works well. We use a lot of stickers in our home-school. The little ones REALLY want those stickers! So what I do is make a chart. We hang it in the bathroom. Each time they use the potty- and actually go- they get a sticker. I have had kids squeeze out even a few drops to get a sticker!!! I never make a fuss of messed undies. I just change them quick and go on about my business. I also buy fancy undies for the girl- they hate to get them wet, and have to take them off. I buy fun boy ones for the boys, but it never seems as important to boys!!!!! One of my older daughters cried so when she wet in her pretty undies. I washed them out quick and put them in the dryer- She stood there the whole time waiting for them to dry!!! She is 25 now!!LOL!! I can still picture her in my mind, standing there looking so forlorn!
Have a great day ladies! Being a mom is so much fun!!! Smiles to all. Hugs, Barbara

Good morning ladies!!
Welcome Michelle! My name is Michele too. I am in NWPA in the boonies. I have been with my hubby for 8 years and married 3. I have 2 boys ages 12 and 2 1/2 and I am trying to talk hubby into one more baby (don't care boy/girl). I have an x-sister-in-law and nephew in CA but not sure which town off hand. Weight loss is weight loss no matter how slow. Boy, I wish I could take my own advice sometimes LOL!!
Lisa - I am also potty training my 2 1/2 yo boy. I always heard boys are older and harder than girls when they train. My 12 yo trained so easy by like 22 mos. This one has poo'd in the potty for like 6 mos and has only had one accident. But...when I asked him about underwear he tells me "no cause I will pee in them". I tried the daddy and brother wear them big boy stuff. I bought spongebob and firetruck ones too. He don't care cause he ain't wearing them. I just told him yesterday that we are going to be working outside and he is going to be wearing underwear. He just looked at me and made a big ole sigh! My mom has done daycare for over 20 years and she potty trained alot of kids. They were all different. I don't believe in the pullups bc kids that young don't understand the difference between them and diapers. It is alot of work, laundry but Punk is going to go outside in underwear and if he pees, he will know it. Then we will go change and do it again. I hope someone has some good ideas.
Have a happy and healthy day everyone!

Goodmorning All.. I am back in action and should be online alot more often now. YIPEE. Today is going to be a lazy one, now that dh is back to work (had a week off) we have to get used to waking up early again and already I am beat.
Welcome Michelle :)
Lisa
as for the potty training thing I too am trying to get my 2 yo going. She sounds like your son as far as being independent and doing on her own. I am not being too strict on it because we really don't have a schedule down having just moved again life is not constant and we need to set that first. As for ideas Does he have a favorite cartoon character???? I saw on a show once that the child liked bob the builder, the task was to use the potty (we can extend that to say one week use of the potty) and the reward was a phone call from their favorite character. If you have a friend willing to make that call I'm sure he'd love it.

Welcome Michelle :)
It looks like another fantastic day here! Yesterday my friend came over, and I paid her back a massage, and we went for a 2 mile walk. It was a nice day, and always good to see good friends.
I also took the kids swimming last night. It was great fun until Ella slipped and split her lip open, and then aaron Proceeded to throw a fit because it was time to go home. He screamed and cried the whole time getting dressed and as I carried him out the door. Tell me you all have times like that! I know its his age too.
Does anyone have any good ideas for potty training. You'd think after 2 I could get it down, but I had 2 very different potty'rs. My daughter trained over night and had like 2 accidents at night since then. My 8 year old wore pull ups until he was like 5. Now I have another boy in line, he has a strong will, and I am thinking I will just put him in underwear when we are home, and not say anything to him. He likes to think things up on his own. Anyone else got any fun ideas? lol
Thanks and have a sparky day! See how far you can run today!
Lisa

Hi Linda, Thanks for the welcome! :O) I lived in Costa Mesa for a few years when I was little. :O) It sure has changed! I was just there a couple of weeks ago, and I got so lost! LOL
Sounds like you have found a good balance between work and home, I sometimes wish I could, but with five kids it would be a bit tough. LOL Especially since dh clocks in quite a bit of overtime between spring and summer months.
I like sparkpeople, due to the fact that I can easily count my calories, fat, etc, plus able to track my water intake (I hate water) LOL. The exercises are nice to, I like being able to see the demos. I am definitely a visual learner.
Well, I need to clean the living room, as tonight is my quilting night, and I don't want to spend extra time cleaning when I could be sewing!
Hugs, Michelle in CA

Welcome,Michelle!
I have 2 cousins near Los Angeles, Costa Mesa. One is an at home mom to 3 kiddos, the youngest of whom has Down's. The other cousin is single, no kids, and works as a school district media specialist. She's a very involved auntie to her 3 nieces and nephews.
How are you liking SparkPeople so far? I like having a quick and easy way to track all my efforts. There's a lot that goes into making small movements on the scale.
I live in Minnesota and have 3 children: a girl, age 11, soon to be 12, a boy, age nearly 9 1/2, and another girl, 6, due to be 7 in August. My husband is Jim, and we've been married for coming upon 14 years. I work part-time as a social worker, 2 days per week while my children are at school and then one evening per week. I really like my current balance between home and outside my home work. I primarily identify myself as a stay at home mom, and so far, nobody's kicked me off this board. (ha, ha- a very friendly, welcoming, and understanding bunch of women are here.) Hope you find what you're looking for!
Linda (P.S. I loved the skunk story too, Lisa. I could just picture you from your photo. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, eh?!)

Hi ladies. :O) My name is Michelle, I am a sahm in Southern California. I have five great kids ages 10, 8, 6, 5, and 16 months. My dh and I have been married for almost 11 years. I turned 30 this past summer. Up until baby number five, I never had weight issues (granted I have been pregnant fairly frequently... LOL)but after the last baby, the weight just won't come off. In fact I am almost 30 pounds heavier than I was when I got pregnant, and I only gained 20 pounds during the pregnancy.... So, I have been working on eating healthier and excersising . Not easy for me with my schedule, but for the past 3 weeks I have made it work. I have dropped 4 pounds so far. Not great, but not bad either. It is hard for me, because I don't have any friends here. L.A. is not really a place for making real friends. LOL Everyone is too busy. So I hope to make some friends here. :O)

Lisa - The skunk story is funny!! LOL!! We put our live trap out for the racoons that get into our shed through the cat door and eat the cat and dog food. We even have it in metal garbage cans that are bungie corded shut. Once we caught a mama oppossum that had 9 babies hanging off of her. I took video of that one before we took her and her brood a few miles away where there were no houses and let her out. My son likes to tell the story on me when his dog injured a racoon and I called him at his dads to tell me how to load his gun so I could "put it out of it's misery". He thought it was so funny that mom was gonna shoot that coon. Sometimes you do what you have to do. We too are a very outdoorsy family. We love to go for walks, camp, hunt, fish, and ride 4 wheeler or snowmobile. I am going to check into geocaching on the net and see what it's all about. It sounds right up our alley.
Sabrina - Keep praying. Even if God's answer isn't what we want to hear, it is the right one. I always think back to the Garth Brooks song "Unanswered Prayers" it's not about a baby but the concept is the same.
Have a happy and healthy day!!

Sabrina, I passed by your post yesterday! I was too excited about my skunk. Forgive me!
I am sorry about your baby cravings. We lost 2 babies before we had our first, and I too can remember crying myself to sleep. Its such an empty sad feeling. I know that if I would have been saved at that time, it would have been so much easier. Know that God has a will and a plan for your life. We dont always know what that might be, and it might not look good to us at the time, but in His wisdom, His Will, will be done. Try to lean on hope and of course prayer. I think husbands can get kind of freaked out by the responsibility of providing for "another mouth". Half way though all of my pregnancies, my husband did the freak out thing. I just think its part of thier nature, and what sort of world we live in now.
Hugs to you!
Lisa

Good Afternoon! I've been busy all day and just thought I'd check in. Thanks so much for the support! I can't think of anywhere else I could have spilled my guts like that and not be called an over emotional sissy. Thanks a million guys! Hubby is almost home, I better wrap it up and dry the tears from reading your replies. Have a wonderful evening all! Sabrina

Good afternoon ladies! Monday is always busy for me! We play a bit too much on the weekend I think!LOL!! I am back on track now, so here I am.
Sabrina- I am so sorry about the tears. I really do know how you feel. My hubby told me when we got married he would never have more than 2 kids. He tried to have a vasectomy twice. I prayed and cried buckets. Both times God interviened. Keep your chin up, You are still writing this book called your life- you do not know what God may have around the corner for you. And from one wife to another- do not be so quick to hide your tears. God put those there for a reason, he knew we women would need an outlet at times. I am not in favor of fake crying to get your way- but real, from the heart tears, have softened more than one mans heart. Hugs, Barbara

HI everyone!
Hey Linda, was it not a loooong weeked at your house too?!?! We are a big outdoor family, so the rain has really made us camp out this weekend!
Well, my excitement for the day was catching a skunk in our live trap. We have it out for bunnies by our garden. We re route them somewhere else. I called my dear husband at work and asked if he had seen the live trap this am, he started laughing and asking...no why? I said yep, a skunk. We have smelled one come around here and there, and half figured it would end up in there. well, he told me to shoot it. I did good! I wont go into gorry details, but he's dead now. lol!
I am still doing laundry. Day two. I think I will adapt Barara's laundry schedule. We have half the people at our house as hers...less than half acutally, so I think we will do it every other day.
Bless you all today!

Good morning, everyone!
We have day 4 of rain here in Minnesota. Everything certainly is turning a very lush, green, despite not being able to be out and about so much. I've been doing my walks with my rain poncho, just aiming for times when it's at least raining more lightly. I just love the fresh air, and find it so energizing.
Sabrina, so sorry to hear about your toe, your tears for a baby, your struggle within your marriage about that topic, and your weightloss standstill. Hugs to you. Chele, hugs to you as well.
Our 3 children came along bam, bam, bam, and we didn't have any disagreements about spacing and numbers of children, so I'm afraid I don't know what you're feeling other than to imagine it. Please do feel free to discuss it as needed.
Mondays are laundry days for me, so other than my walk, that's my big plan for the day. It was a lovely weekend. We got our kids to bed at a reasonable time, and my husband and I took time to give each other massages with creamy baby oil, something we haven't done in too long. It was such a nice way to end the weekend. So relaxing.
I'm thrilled to be able to report that I dropped another 4 pounds this past week, making a total of 25 pounds. I'm one third of the way to my goal weight now. I know the rate of loss will slow down dramatically, the closer I get to my goal weight, and I'll need encouragement. For now, though, I'm enjoying the wonderful feeling of comparative lightness and comfort!
A friend is having a boutique this evening and I'll be joining some girlfriends for a casual dinner out. That will be fun. For May Day, traditionally, I get out supplies for the kids to make May baskets, fill them with baked goods, and deliver them, ringing the doorbell and running, so as not be "found out" as the deliverer. The kids love this tradition and have adapted it for other holidays as well. Instead of making cookies so as not to tempt myself this year, I bought colored tissue paper to make Mexican flowers. (no flowers in our yard this early in Minnesota). Perhaps the kids will see fit to give away some Easter candy in their May baskets.
Does anyone remember doing a Maypole dance as a child? We had a huge one with colored fabric strips- good memories of fun with that, and so special since you only did it once a year.
Have a good day everyone! You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.
Linda

Good morning ladies!!
Sunny and almost 60 here this morning in beautiful NWPA. Hubby just took Punk for a ride into town to mail some stuff and go to the bank. Blessed silence.
Sabrina - Your not alone. I had misplaced $60 of my grocery money last week and was sick looking for it. When hubby asked if I had any left and how much I needed this week, I told him I couldn't find the $60. He was upset but said he saw Punk at my dresser with money. Well, there it was right where Punk hid it from me. He was just upset that I didn't say anything sooner bc I could have saved myself alot of upset and looking for it. But when we started talking I started crying and when he asks what's wrong I just can't come out and say "I want another baby". All I do is cry and let him think it is bc of whatever I am emotional about that day. As for the diet thing...SP's calorie plan isn't working for me either. I stopped losing when I started SP. I am going back to counting my points on WW. The info I have is from a few years ago but it works. I am like you and today started fresh. This morning I did 30 min of TaeBo. I keep a food diary and have written down every morsel I put into my mouth. This really helps. Sorry your broken toe isn't healing. Maybe try some floor exercises. Crunches, leg lifts and stuff like that. Check out the exercises they list under strengh training where you log your fitness. Hope some of this helps. Keep us posted and don't give up.
Mother's day is coming up and I was wondering what you do on Mother's Day? My day is just like any other except that I may get a card from the boys. We have tried not to turn holidays like this into big gift giving. This year I would like to take the Mother's Day ride on a sightseeing train about 30 min from here. I know my mom and mother in law would like to go and my grandma maybe. I'll have to call mom and see.
Have a happy and healthy day!

Good Morning Ladies! New month, new stratagie!! I'm still not losing any weight, so I have to figure out something else. DH says I need to give it more time. My goal of losing 30 by the end of August is not looking like it's going to happen. I can't walk my mile any more (broken toe isn't getting better), so I've been doing streatches and watching what I eat. So far, over two weeks on SP and no results. I just go to the restroom 20+ times a day. HA! I guess I'm getting some cardio in sprinting to the bathroom!!
I cried myself to sleep last night, yep, it's still the baby thing. I did it quietly though, so I don't think Bill noticed. He did tell me to go back to bed after I got the kids off this morning, he said he could tell I didn't sleep well. That's my next stop.
I took some new pics over the weekend, I'm going to try to put them on my page, so you guys check out my gallery! I'm out for now, I hope everyones SP plans are going better than mine!! Sabrina

Hi ladies!
I don't recall if I mentioned I was going with my daughter and our girl scout troop for an overnight at our local zoo. There's a model farm exhibit, and that's where we stayed. It was very cool, with a sow farrowing 11 piglets while we were there. Also chicks hatching from their eggs. We saw them rocking them and cracks, although no complete hatchings. The girls were able to help out with farm chores, putting fresh straws in the animals' stalls, made glue out of milk and learn about the process of raw wool getting turned into yarn, and the lanolin that comes from wool. We even managed to get a decent night's sleep amidst all the excitement.
Tomorrow will be a relaxed day with not much on the calendar. It's been rainy and cool the past 2 days here in Minnesota. We needed the rain.
Food plan is going well for me. I'm actually looking forward to my weekly self weigh-in on Monday am. Best of all, I can foresee making my changes permanent. I'm finding that even just the smell of sweet foods I like is enough for me to enjoy them. I remember them well from having had them numerous times. I can enjoy them that way *and* enjoy my better health and more slender body. Yippee!
I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Good afternoon,
Karen-I am keeping you and your chldren in my prayers. Hopefull everything will turn out for the better and you can take your kiddos home with you.
It's been raining here all day today and all day yesterday. But we need the rain. I hope all of you are having a great day today. Getting exercise and drinking plenty of water. I know that for me weekends are hard getting water in and especially with hubby around I lapse sometimes on my foods, but the last month I have done really well on my weekends. Saying that I need to go drink water. Ladies, have a great weekend with your familys. We are truly blessed to be mommies. Just hearing the voice of my children or just their giggles just makes my world.
I had a good week, I notice my daughter's eating habits have been changing more since we started eating healthier. She loves salad and fruit more now that she sees mommy eating it. So she is my motivator to eat more fruit. She loves strawberries. I am very thankful that I am showing her eating healthier. I just don't want her to be going through what I did as an overweight child. She exercises with me and I think that shows her mommy is taking care of herself for the better. Ladies, everything we do they see. I am proud when she asks for apples or other fruit.
Ok, I am going now to drink water. Jennifer

Karen- I would call the Dept. of Non-public Education in Raleigh. They will tell you, and send you the paperwork. I know when I did it, I had only to have requested the form to pull the kids out. That was a long time ago, so call and check.( I had forgotten you were in NC too! Sounds like we need a field trip to meet!!)
Have a happy weekend ladies. My hubby is home, so I will not be in here much today! Hugs, Barbara

In NC they won't release you from the truancy laws unless you have a card of some sort from the Department of Nonpublic Education saying they've received a letter of intent. You don't need their approval, just proof that you notified them. They do not issue those cards in the months of April through July. If I want it to be official and not have the law knocking on my door, it's my understanding that I have to wait until July 1st.
I might just take my chances in dealing with the law, though. I'm sure a judge would understand my reasons.

Zowie, Karen and Barbara! Those are some serious incidents. I cannot imagine what is going on that leads to those things happening and worse, not responded to appropriately. I'm wondering with Lisa about a "deadline". Here in Minnesota, there is no such thing as a deadline. You can un-enroll and re-enroll at will. I know states vary widely though in how they approach homeschooling. Having had a college roommate who was homeschooled, I can vouch that there is no harm done academically. She was an excellent student with a good head on her shoulders.
I have quite a few friends who homeschool, and would homeschool if we felt it necessary or beneficial for our children. We have been exceedingly pleased with our schools. Having grown up in private schools, I was quite leery, but have been pleasantly surprised over and over again at the quality of staff and programming. My children love their teachers and their schools. They love learning and are doing well. I like to be on site a fair amount to keep my finger on the pulse of things, although after 7 years, I'm starting to relax. I'll still continue to volunteer steadily to keep up on things and add my own energy and skill to the schools. It's an important part of our community.
Have a great Friday everyone!

Good morning ladies!!
I don't have much to add to the public vs. homeschool posts. I think they both have advantages. If you can homeschool...why not?
Barbara - I cannot believe that the parents of all those 7 yo's would just turn their heads and not press charges. Tenure may protect them from the school board but not from criminal charges and that is exactly what that teacher is/was a criminal. Child abuse comes from places other than the home.
Have a healthy and happy day!

Karen, What do you need to have a deadline for? If you and your husband agree to homeschool, and I think its important for your husband to really be for it, I would pull her out. I can't see how the ps can make you keep her in? I could be wrong though. If she doesnt get a grade for this year, no big deal. I hope you find some solutions, its so hard watching your own children suffer, and out of your control.
Lisa

I really feel like all of these things are pulling me to homeschool as well. This was just the straw that broke the camel's back.
Last year we had problems with a teacher that would send home a wishlist to solicit gifts on holidays, at Christmas she netted over $400 in high dollar stuff like a trip to a spa, jewelry, $50 giftcards to a couple places, dinner for two at Outback. I thought it was extortion so I did not participate. A couple weeks later the tooth fairy came, and my daughter was in tears because the tooth fairy had not brought her enough to buy teacher a gift. I found out that she had been humiliated because they had each student get up and tell the class what they had bought teacher, and of course, she hadn't participated and was made to look bad in front of her class. When they did the same thing at the end of the year instructing us to purchase a piece of gold jewelry at an expensive jewelry store I pulled my daughter out of school two days early. We later returned to the school and brought the teacher a very nice windchime as a gift. She looked at it, looked at my daughter with a sneer, and said, "Well, I guess I could stuff something up in there so it won't be so noisy." And went about her business. That's the day Jesus was the only thing keeping my daughter from watching her mommy deck a teacher.
This year we figured new teacher, new year, maybe the first one was only so bad to her because she was a "homeschool kid" or something. This year the teacher has been better, but that's only when they know she's there. Several times she has been marked absent accidentally. I about died the first time I got a call saying she wasn't at school when I had put her on the bus. I was ready to issue an Amber alert, call the police, call my husband, oh, my, gosh, what do I do? They called me back laughing about it because it was all just a silly mistake, and they have done it several times since.
Now, this has happened and I go back over all of those things, and I feel ridiculous and incredibly slack for not pulling her out before now. I know I missed the deadline for this year, but I am going to call the state and see how I can go about legally pulling her out after the deadline.
Thanks for the advice.

That is why we homeschool! Our oldest two were in public school for awhile. Two things pulled us out into homeschooling. One was a "game" they had my 7th grader play for one full week- they had something like 15 people who lived through a ship sinking. There was only room for 10 in the life boat. They were dicussing the worth of the survivors- to decide which ones had to be thrown over and killed- so the rest would live. I was fit to be tied. That should have done it, but I am slow on the uptake, so God had to really spell it out to me. This is what happened next. The teacher my next son would get when he started school the next year, was suspended for three days WITH PAY for hitting six 7 year olds in the face and head with a belt. The kids in the class each gave the same story when questioned seperately by the principal. They all said she just went nuts when one of the children stepped in the grass when they were walking back to the class room. She said they started a RIOT and she couldn't stop them. These were 7 year olds. This is a SMALL- SMALL town. The class only had ten kids in it. The school said since no adult witnessed it they could not do anything. I didn't buy it, so I called a lady I knew whose son had been in her class the year before and asked her about this teacher. Ladies I will never forget that phone call- it changed my life. She told me that this lady had cussed at the children all year. Daily. But that wasn't the worst. She had picked up a chair and thrown it at her son. A chair- thrown by an adult at a 7 year old. She told me she felt real lucky- it mostly missed him! He was terrified, but not really hurt bad. A child could be killed that way!!!!!! Then I called a retired teacher. She told me she had taught in the room next to hers- and she conformed both stories. She said she always hated to hear that teacher curse that way at the students, but it was impossible to get rid of her since she had tenure. There was a month left of school. My 9 year olds best friend had been killed in a car accident a few weeks before. He was really having a hard time coping with that empty desk next to his. I prayed about it with my husband. What more did God have to do to wake us up? We pulled them out the next day. We finished that month reading outload together, and loving each other. It was the best thing I ever did.
So, no- I don't think you are over-reacting. So what if the magazine got there by "mistake"? It still shows you the character of that person- that they OWN such a thing. God give you wisdom as you deal with this. Hugs, Barbara

Um, I would be mortified! I would definately pusure it like a bull dog. There's no way that's ok.
|
|
|
|
I have a question that maybe you all could weigh in on. I need to know if I'm overreacting, because I am being treated as if my concerns are just silly, and I would like to know what you all would do. So here goes;
How would you react if your second-grade daughter brought home a collage from her art class at school that she had made from publications provided by the school, and the collage was made up of topless dancers, ads for strip clubs, and phrases like "TWO FOR TUESDAY GO BARE AS YOU DARE!"
I think my reaction was appropriate and actually not nearly as bad as my husbands, but the principal is acting as if I'm just being silly and these things happen. What's your opinion?

Hey Linda, where in mn are you close to? I am close to the eastern mn/wi border.
I think I could have used a 12 step program for food. Seriously. I just had it one day, and said to Hell with this overeating! I started hating food so much, I did get a little concerned for a while. I am doing just right now, and hope I can stay that way.
Good blessings with you program, I know what it feels like to love food.

Hi everyone!
It's a beautiful day here in Minnesota! My kids had a half day of school today, and we're excited to be going to a "junior high orientation" this evening for my oldest. Such excitement and fun!
I don't know if I mentioned it on this list or not, but in addition to sparkpeople, I've been doing a 12 step program much like alcoholics anonymous, only it's for people who have issues with food. In my case, my issue is overeating, particularly sweets. It's been a very helpful approach for me. If you are at all interested, their website can be found by googling "overeaters anonymous".
I began putting in a patio a few days ago, and it's coming along nicely. Typically, I wouldn't undertake such a large project like this myself, but somehow I'm feeling rather strong and capable lately, and so here I am, rolling along with it.
Sabrina, (and others), I don't think it's wise of me to be so presumptuous to make an opinion on another's goal weight. I guess my point was just to ask you to consider for yourself if your weight goal was too low and perhaps that was factoring into your lack of a weight loss. Of course it's just a head shot, but your image that posts with your posts looks like the face of a slender person to me.
I think it's best to know your body and discern what's best for you. For an objective opinion, I would trust a physician if I wanted additional input. I know that once I used an "imposed" goal weight from weight watchers as an excuse to "chuck it all", including a 42 pound loss just because I could not get off the last 8 pounds. I used it as an excuse to eat whatever i wanted and gained all that weight back and of course, "plus some". In hindsight, it would have been more appropriate to be happy for what I'd achieved and adjusted my goal weight up 8 pounds. However, I was doing nothing in weight watchers but focus on the food- not looking at the emotional and spiritual aspects of what I was doing with my eating behavior. So, it was a shaky weight loss from the beginning.
I do think weight in and of itself is pretty misleading as a guide for fitness. Due to the fact that muscle weighs 2 1/2 times more than fat, one's composition of fat vs. muscle can be quite "heavier" without being necessarily less fit by any means. Also, as women, some of us have other factors to consider. Even at a slim weight in my early 20's, I wore a DD bra size. And later, in my 30's, despite my weight loss of 42 pounds with weight watchers, my bra size never went down further than a DD. So, unless all 8 pounds were waiting for the last minute to come off my bustline, in all fairness, I think that some weight allowance can be made for figure differences.
Well, that was probably way "tmi" (too much information), but oh well, there you have it. That's my two cents for today. Have a great day everyone!

Good Afternoon Ladies !!! I am taking my ten minute break ``` LOL The kiddies were up early this morning about 3 or so YUCK we ended up finally going back to sleep around 5. Meantime my 2yo found her portable dvd player and had it blasting in her bed so that's what woke her sister and I up. Fun Fun
Jennifer I do agree it is so nice to feel like we've known each other forever!! Can relate on so many things I can't wait till everything settles down here and I have more time on the computer to chat with you. Been making a point to get on here atleast to do two posts so I can keep in touch. :)
Barbara thanks for the insight in your last email, I agree with most of it and work on many points you have made. I think it will really help. I will respond to it shortly.
To everyone else have a wonderful day. Keep smiling. Renee

Good afternoon ladies!!
I missed everyone yesterday!
Sabrina - It is always wonderful to hear of someone doing something selfless. You can't wrap your arms around a Harley and it certainly won't give you grandkids someday. My brother has a Harley but no kids. His wife didn't want to ruin her body with kids. Now she is feeling guilty bc he has made comments about not having anyone to go hunting/fishing with or leave all his stuff to. He says he is leaving it all to my oldest. I told him to come get him anytime. Jordan can't get enough fishing/hunting.
Great to see so many people here. I was just wondering while I was reading the posts I missed where Ashbee has been?
Gotta run and do lunch.
Have a healthy day!!

Good Morning Everyone!
Good luck with Haley's tests Sabrina. She'll be in our prayers. I also hope your dream of having another baby comes true for you. I agree with Barbara on the Harley thing.
I, too, am hoping to homeschool next year. The school systems in our area are incredibly misguided and getting worse by the year.
Barbara - I'll take some of that sun, too!!!

Good morning ladies! I hope everyone has a great day! Thank you for your support, it really means a lot. I don't feel so special, just blessed to have two wonderful kids in my life. Honestly, the way my husband takes care of things, a bike will be around in 30 years!ha,ha,ha. He's a neat freak! All of his tools look brand new even though he's had them for years and does concrete work as a side business. As martha would say "it's a good thing" ha!! I have been thinking about home school a lot too. I just read in the paper that a teacher at my kids school has been arrested for abusing one of her students. He was acting up so she stood on the poor things hands!!! Then at the middle school, just up the road, 4 of the faculty has been charged for not reporting sexual harrassment of a special ed student! My kids have been through enough mess, I'm not going to put them through that!!! I have a feeling, next year I'll have them home with me. What's wrong with people?! I will feel much better when they are here with me, at least I know that when I disipline them, they won't have bruises!!! I guess I better get off the computer, I'm waiting for a call from Haley's doc. to get the results of her test. I'll let you know what happens! Sabrina

Good morning ladies! I hope the sun comes out today! I am ready for sunshine again! We needed the rain, and it came at the perfect time for out garden, but I still want sun today! I am getting spoiled by this spring weather!!
Jennifer- I am always glad to see you on here too! Do you know what happened to Ashbee? I haven't seen her here in awhile. It seems like several of the first ladies have dropped off.
Sabrina- I think it is grand you adopted those children. You must be a special lady! I still think babies are a better investment than motercycles! Yes they cost more- but they don't decrease in value over the years! They increase!! In 30 years an old bike is long gone, a child has grown up and is loving you back!!
Be sure you hug someone this day. Everyone needs to feel the touch of love in their lives. Hugs, Barbara

Good Morning Beautiful MOMMIES, Sabrina-I hope you are feeling better. I clicked on our sparkpage today and you are very beautiful. Your children are so cute all four. LOL Hopefully its not serious with Haley and everything checked out all right. Its funny that men think that way. Having a bike doesn't add up to having a child. I praise you for taking in your bro's kids. That itself is a great reward. I can't tell you it breaks my heart to see parents who don't care for their children. Why have them then? I applaud you.
Barbara-You amaze me everyday. I love to get on here and see what's going on in your life. Your night with hubby sounds like you had fun just getting away.
Renee-Your so sweet. I am so glad that you came on here. Feels like we known each other forever. It's nice finding friends and sahm just like me. Motivates me and carries me through. (wink)
Lisa, Way to go and getting your exercise in early. Whew, that is awesome. I hope you have a great day. I am glad everything is coming together and bringing your children home for home schooling. I have been seriously thinking about it. My oldest is only 2 1/2 but I was talking with hubby and I think deep down in my heart its the right thing to do. I was wondering do they have support groups for mommies homeschooling. Do they offer get togethers for the kids?
Got my workout in this morning while my oldest was sleeping. My son decided to spread his sunshine early this morning. So I did my four mile walk away the pounds dvd while he played. Already got some toys washed from the outside and brought those in since its going to be cold here today. I think I need to slow down. Whew. Anyhoo, have a great day. Jennifer

Hi all! I was mia yesterday with a sinus headache, I just wish I could pop the bones in my face and relieve some pressure! Linda, I'm 5'2, do you think I'm too short to want to lose 30lbs? 120 seemed reasonable to me and hubby. Michele, Thanks for the food advice and the baby talk. I just found out that my best friend since childhood is pg and going to have twins! I told dh that I don't understand why I'll never have another baby to love. The thing you all don't know is that I DO have 3 kids, but have only given birth to 1, the youngest. We adopted Haley and Caleb from my deadbeat brother. So I feel like I'm not done yet! I can't seem to get that across to him. I guess it's better not to have a child than to have one out of guilt. I guess my next baby will be a Harley Davidson Fat Boy! He'll be getting that out of guilt of course, but he dosen't really mind that. He says we can pay off a Harley, we'll be paying for a kid forever. Makes since, hu? I've got to go. Have to take Haley to the hosp. for a CT scan. Shes been haveing a bout with bad headaches. Thanks for listening to me whine for a while! Love to all Sabrina

Last night was my date night with hubby! I love that man!! We laugh till it is a wonder they don't throw us out some nights! This is a wonderful life we get to live ladies. Fairytales don't get any better than this! I have a ton to do, so must get going. I will try to pop in later if anyone has any questions, or good old fashion chit chat! Hugs, Barbara

Good morning!
I got my curves in this am, and am ready for my day! I love getting that exercise in in the am, it just keeps me motivated for the whole day.
I have taken my 2 year old's nuks away at night time. For the last 5 nights he hasnt had them. The first couple of nights were ok, but now I think he's getting a handle on it. I just love seeing them grow and mature into little people. We have one of those big heavy duty trikes, and yesterday he started peddaling all by himself. It was joyous to see his face...the "I am doing it mom!" look. I guess those times I tried and tried to show him how, did stick with him!
I am getting really excited to homeschool. I know it will be a great time to spend with my kids, and I will know what they are learning, and I get them home with me all day! I feel like my 2nd graders time is being so wasted, when we can get some better learning done in more than half the time. I think of all the experiences we will learn together. I am thankful my husband is wanting to do this. He is trusting me. Thats a good feeling.
well, enough rambling, its 7 am, time to get everyone up!
You all have a great day, and make every moment count!

Good afternoon ladies! I hope each of you have had a great day! I have my cardio done for the day, so I feel great about that!! I use the tracker here too, but do not use their menu. I try to stay in my calorie range, and tracking does help. I too was shocked at the calories in some things I used to eat all the time! No wonder I got fat!!!LOL!!!
You will laugh at us when I tell you this... I know all about that baby desire. My hubby and I are at the end of that curve, and we know it. But deep down I still hope for at least one more. I am at the point I could live- and not be crushed, but babies are so sweet, ahhhhhh. We don't use birthcontrol, and this is the longest space we have had in 14 years, so maybe we are done. My 18 year old laughs at me-"It's not like you were exactly deprived of babies Mom!". Besides with this many kids to foot the bill, no one of them will have to toss in much to support us in our old age!!!LOL!!!Hugs, Barbara

Welcome Teresa. I'm Jennifer. Its so nice to add new faces everyday. We are all here for you. I love the tracker I can't believe some of the things you think are good for you and you go to track them. So it keeps me accountable. Glad you are here.
Chele, I am sending air hugs about your wanting a new baby. I got my tubes tied right after my son and sometimes I yearn for just one more. My son is 10 1/2 months and I think just two weeks ago it really hit home for me that I will never be able to have more children. I cried like never before. I cherish my son's milestones because this is it for me. Just writing this brings a tear. I will keep you and Sabrina in my prayers. Hopefully hubbies will turn around and realize how you feel and why it is you want another baby.
Linda thank you for mentioning my kiddos they are feeling lot better. Hopefully will be able to take them to the gym soon. Was going to be re-evaluated today at the gym but had to reschedule afraid to take them so soon after only be on antibotics two days. Have a great night ladies. Jennifer

Good morning ladies!!
Welcome Teresa. I hope you stay. The more the merrier. The way I look at it, everytime you add your 2 cents, I get richer. So, that said, chime in anytime you like.
This weekend wasn't a good diet time for me but I didn't gain. It was the first time in 3 mos that I haven't kept track of everything that goes in my mouth.
Sabrina - I don't use the menu plans either. I was using the weight watchers guidelines I got from someone but now I just eat "sensibly" then fill out the meal tracker and I am getting really good at staying in the calories and all that. I have been eating alot of veggies. Mostly frozen broccoli or the stirfry veggies (not the stirfry mix w/sauce). I fry them in a tablespoon of olive oil and sprinkle with garlic powder then eat them with low sodium soy. I don't eat much for white bread I have switched over to whole grains. My hubby does not like wheat bread so I put a loaf in the freezer for me and only get out what I will eat everyday. I eat oatmeal (the rolled oats not the quick kind) every morning for breakfast with molly mcbutter and splenda. I bought me some brown rice and I do buy some of the Lean Cuisine or Smart Ones entrees and pizzas. Yes, some of these things are more expensive but others are not and they cancel each other out. My kids Jordan 12 yo and Jacob 2 1/2 yo now only get homemade cookies (usually oatmeal that I can slip in some whole wheat flour and wheat germ they can't taste and don't know is in there). I still buy chips and dip bc hubby likes it. If I buy snack crackers it is the whole grain wheat thins. They are better than the low fat or low sod versions as far as the label reads. I also don't buy convenience foods since I now am a sahm and have time to cook meals from scratch. It helps that I love to cook and experiment with new stuff. I recently introduced tofu. They didn't even know it. I do tell them later after I find out how it tasted that it was in there. I switched to alot of generic stuff. If they won't eat it bc it is generic try keeping the package from the name brand and refill with generic. Unless there is a big taste change they won't notice. Ps - I know what you mean by the baby thing. My hubby just doesn't understand why I am so depressed and quiet. I tried to explain but bc Punk is so active and takes so much enery he can't fathom the idea of another baby. I feel so empty and at some point everyday I end up in tears bc I saw a commercial or show or heard a song. I'll add you to my prayers. My hubby thinks the same as yours...why would I work so hard to get back to pre-baby then want to get preg and get big again??!! They just don't have the same chromosomes we do! My hubby also uses his age and says he is too old (43 and I'm 37 but don't tell anyone!!).
Have a healthy and happy day!!

Hi! I'm happy to have found you all. I'm Teresa. I'm a stay-at-home mom to four kids ages 16, 10, 7 and 3 yo. I found SparkPeople a few weeks ago and am really enjoying it (even if the scale isn't going down very quickly!) It's been eye-opening for me to track my food intake. Yikes! It does make it easier to pass up that Big Mac now that I know how many calories it has. LOL! I've been doing great with the exercise and with the 8 cups of water finally. The calories are getting there ... slowly, though.
Glad to meet everyone!

Hello SAHM's!
Sabrina, I wonder how tall you are and if perhaps your goal weight is too low for your height? Increasing cardio is the key to any weight loss for me. I've been fortunate though in that I seem to have a high metabolism.
About the planner, I don't use the pre-planned meals, but use the "add a food" function and plan my own meals and measure and weigh so that the calorie counts are accurate.
Today I took the notion to begin installing a patio using paver bricks. After 1 1/2 hours of excavating the section of lawn destined to become our patio, I decided to hang up the shovel for the day. I can't wait to see how many calories that activity burned! It was a work out, I tell ya!
Gotta go plan tomorrow's food and hit the hay! G'night all! I hope your kids are feeling better soon, Jennifer. Glad you had a fun time on your weekend away, Renee. We have done that off and on once per year and really enjoy it as well. Barbara, glad you're back on-line! Woohoo on the spring cleaning all who've mentioned it! Doesn't it feel good?! I'm going in so many different directions, I'll have to return to it after patio completion...

Good evening all!
I thought I would jump on here for a moment before I get back to my spring cleaning. I decluttered the kitchen last night until I couldn't keep my eyes open and crashed out on the couch with boxes and bags of stuff packed up in the kitchen. This morning when hubby came home he woke me up panic stricken and said, "Honey, are you moving out?" I just rolled over and said, "No, Honey, you're stuck with me forever." I had to laugh though because it really does look like we're moving out. I am getting rid of so much stuff!!

Renee, I will put your email in my address book. I will do that. Seems like you and me have lots in common with hubby and children.
Sabrina, just wanted to let you know that I don't go by the planner. I can't afford them either. I just get things that are healthy and in my price range. It would be great to go by the planner but I feel that my foods I choose are in the best area for me. I have found that to buy foods with less fat, less sodium you have to pay more. I don't understand that. Does anyone know why the things that are taken out cost more? I wasn't a big label reader either until I got on spark. I am now looking at everything not for the fat but for the calories and sodium. I retain water horribly so I try to stay within the range I have here on spark. Couple times I have gone over but that week I lost nothing so I learned from that. I guess just buy foods that are healthy.
Lisa your my hero. I need to clean my car out so bad but haven't gotten around to it. I would get out there today but looks like it's going to rain. So we'll see. Sounds like you had a productive weekend.
Took kiddos to the dr this morning. My daughter was running a fever friday and Saturday so I knew she had some kind of infection. I also noticed this morning her lymph nodes on her neck were swollen really bad. So it was time to go. So the dr says that she is on a verge of getting an ear infection. It was red so he put her on antibotics along with Jacob. His ear was red too. So thank goodness I took them or it would have progressed into an ear infection. So gave them the medicine so we are on the road to recovery. Jennifer

Thanks for the quick responce! I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. I can't afford all of the food on the planner, so I just take a really good look at the labels and buy what is best calorie, fat, and carb wise. I guess I shouldn't complain too much, my tummy is getting tighter with all the walking I've been doing. thanks again Sabrina

Jennifer, Whoa let me just say how much that all sounds familiar.... My hubby decided to go to the local casino and spend some money yesterday. Granted he knows he needs a limit because we don't have money to pretty much just throw away (although sometimes he does win) so I do give him credit in the knowing not to spend too much. So as for our "left over" spending money for ourselves what we do have pretty much goes to him 1. I don't really need anything 2. he says he's the one that works (true, tho this statement really only comes out when he's mad). OOOPS don't mean to just keep on going. :) For the most part he knows we don't have much spending money but if we do it's usually spent on something he wants I give him some credit tho he usually asks if I mind him buying whatever it is he has his eye on that week... LOL Hope your day is going well so far Renee

Good morning Ladies, Hope all had a good weekend. We had great weather here and hubby stayed home Friday and Saturday instead of racing and working on his race car. Since he's car is sick he won't be racing that one for awhile. Really impressed me that he stayed home. He told me this was his place to be. In the past few years this has been our biggest arguement. He would go racing despite us going broke to do it. But since we had our second child last summer he has really proven to me that he knows that if we can't afford it he isn't going to race. So yesterday after working on his car he came home so I could go to the gym. In the past he would stay all day and I wouldn't be able to go. I just don't feel comfortable with the kiddos in the daycare. Plus the kiddos have been sick I think forever now. Taken them to the dr and he says they are fine just draining. So today going to take them back and see what's going on just to be safe. Whew sorry for the story.
Barbara, I thought that was sweet that your mom got on here and let us know you were mia for a bit. I am very glad your back in action now. Missed ya. Sounds like you had a good garden day. I was thinking of going this weekend to our farmer's market and get some flowers. I bet your children feel proud knowing that they have their own. Thats fun for them.
Chele, I think that is cute about the pumpkin pie thing. I was wondering about the punk thing but that is so cute. I call my son little man. He reminds me of his daddy. Bald and chunky. Not that I am calling my husband chunky lol. But they look exactly alike. My daughter I call babygirl or busybee. She is so busy all the time. Most of the time is sweetie, baby, or just her first name.
Renee, Hopefully you can get back into the swing of things today. I didn't get to my spring cleaning but might take a chance today or tomorrow. We'll see. The sleeping schedule is so hard when they go and come back. Hopefully tonight it will be a little better for you.
Sabrina, It's ok to vent. I am sorry that your friendship is rocky. I know that it's hard when you grow up being friends and you get married and everything just gets harder especially when jealousy is involved. Sometimes its better to just see each other like you do 3-4 times a year. But it doesn't make it easier when you miss the friendship you once had. Hang in there. Maybe she'll come around. Way to go and telling people about sparkpeople and what your doing. If they take it the wrong way, don't be offended. I think only having two slices of pizza is still a big deal. You choose to stop after that. So don't be to hard on yourself. Just pick up today and continue on your journey. I will keep you in my prayers about having another baby.
I started losing in November but gained the ten pounds that I lost over the Thanksgiving/Christmas Holidays. Couple days after Christmas I went back to eating healthy and exercising. In January my bro/sis in law and my hubby/me decided to join the gym together. So the first week I lost 8 pounds because it was a shock to my body and the second I lost 6 but since then I have been losing 2-3 and one week nothing. So it varies. Ladies have a great day today. Jennifer

Morning ladies! Had a nice weekend. My mom kept the kids for most of it, so it was just me and hubby! We went to visit one of my old friends last night, we were best friends when we were younger, now our husbands have a better friendship than we do. I really miss the way it use to be. I think it got bad when I got married before she did, then a few years later, got pregenant before she did. I wish she could be happy around me like she is around other people. I couldn't help but tell her about this site and all of you and how great the support here is, and she got all upset with me, I guess she was hearing "you need to go on a diet", but she asked me why I didn't have a 2nd glass of wine, so I told her I was watching my calorie intake, and Yadda, yadda, yadda. Because of that kind of stuff, I'm glad we only see eachother 3 or 4 times a year. Sorry bout that, had to vent. I did pretty good on my diet, with the exception of the pizza that attacked my mouth (twice!). Other than that, I'm still plugging away. Hubby said we will seriously consider another baby when I lose my weight. He's thinking I wont want to get all big again, maybe he's right, maybe not. I want another baby so bad I can't stand it sometimes. I can't even watch e.p.t. comercials anymore without crying! I think he's caving a bit though. He was looking funny yesterday and I asked him what was wrong and he told me he was missing Cody when he was a baby. I've been praying for God to either make Bill want one or make me not, maybe I'll have news here after a while! We can have an on-line baby shower!!! ha, ha, ha! By the way my kids nick names are self explanatory there is: Why did you do that Get down from there and.....Clean it up now. I wanted their names to really mean something so these are what I came up with, except for "why did you do that" , that one was my brothers nick name. Sabrina

Good morning ladies!
Kinda trying to get back to my schedule this week. My gram was in the hosp for 10 days and I was at moms alot watching her daycare so...things didn't get done around here. I did manage to lose 2 pounds last week after a 4 week stall. Woo hoo!!!
My best friend called yesterday and told me that her brother in law died of a massive heart attack. He was 45 (no warning). He smoked (all the brothers and sisters do) and had no health problems (that he knew about) prior to this. He just had met his wife 2 years ago and they had a baby boy in January. He was the proudest papa. Now that little boy will grow up without his daddy.
On a brighter note, I thought I should explain the nickname Punk for my 2 1/2 yo. He was born at the end of August. When Thanksgiving came I started calling him pumpkin pie and saying I could just eat him up. Well, that became punkin pie, punky pie and now just Punk. It really is a term of endearment. I just didn't want any of you to think I was calling my son a punk or that it was derogatory. It helps since I named both of my boys with J names and can't seem to get the right name out sometimes.
What are your kids nicknames if they have one and how did they get them?
Have a happy and healthy day!

Good morning all! Well I am getting back into the swing of things. Went to pick up the kiddies yesterday. We had a great time and enjoyed the peace and quiet :) It didn't take long for us last night to get a little stressed about the kids not wanting to go to bed!!! That thing we parents like to call a schedule seems to go out the window with leaving them with others... UGH so as I expected they didn't want to quiet down right away and relax. The kids did manage to be down and asleep by 9:45 not so bad right? Hubby was annoyed and had to put his two cents in. MEN but I am glad things seem to be going well for everyone... The movies were pretty good (movie stunk but time alone with hubby was great) We were treated to dinner Saturday night so that was even better :) yes it was nice that someone else paid but we all had fun laughed like crazy in the rest. and was lucky enough to have a waitress with a pretty good sense of humor... Now it's time to unpack the kiddies bags today and straighten up. Well I will check back soon everyone enjoy your day today. NICE TO SEE YOU FINALLY GOT BACK BARBARA :) :)

Good morning ladies! I hope each of you had a nice weekend! We planted our garden yesterday afternoon. It looks so nice now. The children each have a little garden of their own. They planted a mix of flowers and veggies. It looks so cute, all mixed together!
I am getting in the mood to do spring cleaning. How about you? It seems that after being in so much all winter, it just feels good to open up the house and scrub everything down!! I need to take several days and clean/sort the attic too. It gets junky if I don't do that twice a year. It makes a pretty big mess to do though!!!!! Hubby always says,"That sounds like a good job to do while I'm at work!!" I don't blame him!!!LOL!!
Have a wonderful day ladies, filled with the wonder of the life you are blessed to have! Hugs, Barbara

We had lovely weather today in Minnesota, sunny and a high temp around 69 degrees lasting well into the evening. I had a morning walk around a lake path by myself, which really feeds my soul. Then, my daughters and I had a picnic in the backyard prior to going swimming (indoor swimming- way too cold in Minnesota to swim in the lakes yet- the ice has only been off less than a month just now). My husband and son went to a YMCA Voyager (think scouting) event for the afternoon.
Then I invested in a larger seat for my bike that also has spring-like things, and whoo boy, what a difference! My bottom hurt for an entire week the first time I used my bike this spring. Now I'm figuring out all sorts of routes for us- to the library, to my part-time paid job, little adventures. We went on a family bike ride this evening to a park near our house that has a small waterfall with plenty of stepping stones so you can play with the water and rearrange the rocks so as to divert the current, make little eddies and such.
We've had so many stages of biking as a family. We had a cannondale trailer for 2, and then when kids got to the point of riding with training wheels, we'd buckle them in the trailer, and put the "riderless" bike's front wheel in the trailer until we came to a park or paved trail away from traffic, whereupon the young rider would disembark from the trailer and go on his/her own pedal power.
Eventually, we had somebody on 2 wheels, somebody who rode in the trailer, and now, no more need for a trailer with all 3 kids riding on just 2 wheels and going at a good clip. So we went on a first ever "trailerless" family bike ride this evening. It felt like a milestone of sorts.
I'm really enjoying this phase of our family life and the season so much. I enjoy all 4 seasons here in Minnesota, but winter is a bit long for my taste. December through March are pretty cold, and you can only do so much sledding, ice skating, and cross country skiing. Does anyone else live in a northern climate and have good suggestions for outdoor winter recreation?
Happy weekend to all!
Linda

Ladies, I am back!! My phone line has been the problem we found out. Not the main line, just the computer line!!!! I had my son move evrything into the kitchen today!!!! So I am here at least!!
Sweetanglesong-I think you hit the nail on the head- too much stuff. It is impossible to have lots of stuff AND lots of children AND lots of peace. Get rid of the junk, keep the kids, and the peace will follow!!! It really will solve 50% of all problems to get the house in order. You will not be stressed and mad all the time over the mess. I promise it will help- and I don't make promises lightly. Take a whole week and dedicate it to cleaning. Really, plan easy meals, and clean. Warn your hubby that the meals will be simple, BUT that life is about to get better. He will say a blessing under his breath!
Feel free to ask any questions about how we do things, that you might have. Oh, and remember... I ONLY have 10 still at home!!! Hugs, Barbara

Hello ladies. I am not a stay at home mom but my daughter Barbara is (motherof14) - she wanted everyone to know she did not die. Her phone line did and they said it would be fixed by 7pm Monday. Chele, Thank you. I hope you have a great weekend with punk. Wow I would love to go camping maybe next year when the kiddos are a bit older. The kiddos are doing much better I think. My daughter was asking to go to the gym today so I knew she was better but still has her cough so going to go tonight when hubby is home.
Renee, hey I never thought of decluttering like that. Right when I read that I almost jumped up and went to clean out my closets. But trash day doesn't come till Tuesday so might do it Sunday or Monday.
Ladies, how are you today. Did you drink enough water? I hope all that is getting rain sunshine hurries through for you. Especially with being stuck inside. oy, that can be hard sometimes with kids. Anyhoo, just checking in. Jennifer

Good morning ladies!
It is already 60 but a little overcast today here in NWPA.
I already got my 1/2 hr of Denise Austin in this morning. She is on our Lifetime network on DISH every morning at 7 & 7:30. I try to do at least one of them each day.
Sabrina - Glad you are feeling better today.
Jennifer - Having sick kids is the pits. I would rather be sick than have them be. It is so draining. I hope they are feeling better soon.
Off to camp this weekend. This will be the first overnite for Punk. We just visited the last 2 years and came home. I won't be here until Monday so I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Hello all. Some of you have seen me in other topics to them nice to see you again. Everyone else nice to get the chance to chat. :) I too have alot of similar issues with snacking and the oh so dreaded cleaning. After several moves within about a year and a half time I have realized we really don't need that much stuff to survive!!! That said if we don't absolutely need it we don't have it. Less stuff less mess. With not having the clutter or extra things like some of you may have I can't relate but I have heard of this suggestion; Look thru all your things the stuff that you have not used in a given time (say two months) put it all aside in the garage under the bed somewhere out of the way if you don't use it with another given time (maybe another two months) toss it. Do you then really need it taking up space and collecting more dust for you to clean??? I have gotten rid of sooo much stuff before the moves we are down to bear minimum. Just a suggestion hope maybe it'll work for someone. have a great day Renee

Organizing isn't something I'm great at, but when I get the get up and go, it gets done! I start small. I get an empty box and fill it up with things I know are not where they should be and put up everything in that box. Then I take a nice long break, like days or weeks!!! If I keep it up though, I can get organized. Something else that always helps is to invite the most organized person you know over for dinner. Since you know they will be looking at EVERYTHING thinking "oh what a mess" you will have everything organized and put away! We try to have company a few times a month, That way I have to put things where they belong, My house isn't dirty, just lived in. Sometimes organizaton is a losing battle with children, you put it up, they take it out! I've resolved not to clean house during the summer, it's useless anyway!!! Sabrina

HELLO MOMS. Nap time is my nap time too or my bath time. I try to take a bath during the day because at night there isn't enought hot water to go around.
TO MOTHEROF14: I have been catching up on the message board since the first time I wrote. I just cannot get my life together enough to spend time here but I need too. I cannot imagine having 14 children. I cannot keep up with my 5 children at home. I also have one who is 21 and on his own. How do you get it all together.
I think my biggest problem is that I am so unorganized. I have too much junk. I guess I must be a candidate for clean sweep. I just cannot seem to get rid of things. And I cannot organize what I have. I do believe that a clean home reflects on everyones disposition. I know this but I cannot seem to get it together.
I am also 43 years old and my youngest is 1.5 years old. Seems all I do is chase her around. She is a climber. Cannot keep her off things. I pray the Lord keeps her safe and he has.
Anyway, it is nice to know I am not alone with my challenge to stay at home with my kids. I feel this is where God wants me. Now I just need to get it together. Any suggestions to get my life organized???

Good morning ladies!
I remember naptimes, but they are part of my past now too. It's okay though as I don't find I need the "break" as much now that they're older. We do still have quiet time after lunch during the summer months when there is no school. I find that 30 minutes of everyone doing something quiet by themselves does a lot for everyone's ability to act appropriately toward one another.
When they were younger, I found myself sometimes bingeing during naptime. What I've discovered over time, though, is that often when I'm overeating, what I'm really feeling is *TIRED*, and I'd do better to rest or meditate/pray.
Speaking of eating for reasons other than hunger, I've realized recently how often I'm eating really to bring back some of the warm fuzzy feelings of childhood, of being taken care of. I'm working on figuring out ways other than overeating that will remind me of those good feelings and honor some of those happy memories of childhood. (not that my entire childhood was a time of uninterrupted bliss, but meal times and holidays were consistently peaceful, happy times.)
Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning all! I was out of commision yesterday with a headache and a mountian of laundry! I had an idea the other day about how to stay on my diet. I put on my work out pants made of spandex and lycra. Nothing makes you drop the cookies like looking at your rear in spandex! I'm home alone all day, so the embarassment factor isn't there, unless I see myself. You can feel it too! For some reason you can feel your thighs more when you wear that stuff. I have about 3 pair and a few tank tops which have become my "motivation wear" during the day. If I feel like I have been a good girl, I'll put on something I KNOW is too big for me to begin with, but it makes me feel good anyway! I know, I'm not exactly looking for my motivation in conventional places, but it works for me! As for being good during nap time, my kids are 9, 7, and 6. As far as they are concerned, naps are for babies! Speaking of which, beleive it or not, I want another one! My husband and I agreed that when I get to my goal weight, If I still want a baby, we'll start trying. He's thinking that if I'm looking the way I want to, I won't want to get all big again with a baby. Who knows, he may be right! Anyway, I hope all is well with everyone, and welcome to the new ladies! As for pictures, I don't buy them anymore, not even school pics. I am trying to make it as an amature photographer, but it's not easy. I love my pics. The guy at Wal-mart photo lab knows me now. Did you guys know that you can develop 35mm film in the 1 hour lab and just get a pic. CD and load that on your computer or put it in the picture making thingie and only print what you want? I dont' have a digital camera, I'm old fashoned, I'll need one pretty soon though. I'm shooting a doctor and her patients pretty soon, I'm so excited!!! Sorry I went on so long! Sabrina

Good morning everyone!!
Here's one for you...
If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
Here's another...
If you sneak and eat that snack and no one is around to catch you, does it have calories?
Just a thought. I'm a sneak snacker too. I'll stand behind the pantry door and try no to rattle bags and stuff my face. If I don't write it down it doesn't count right? I have been stuck at the same weight for the last 4 weeks. This week I have had no sneak snacks and have already dropped 2 lbs. When I first started writing my food diary (I keep a small spiral notebook and carry it everywhere) I wrote down every bite and everything that went on that bite. After 3 mos I was slacking off. This week I am stepping it up.
I buy skinny snack for me and always have snacktime with Punk when he gets up from his nap between 2-3. I have mini caramel rice cakes and a cup of green tea or whole wheat tortillas baked and cut into chips with hummus or apple and peanut butter. I have tried some really different stuff this time and found out I like it. I have to be careful with the rice cakes bc I count them out and if Punk sees what I am eating he digs right in.
Naptime is my time for bills, grocery lists, coupons, reading or exercise if it is my dvd day. Our house is small and there isn't enough room for Punk to join me. I almost "knocked his block off" one day doing Tae Bo so I only do it when he is napping.
As for the rest of the snacks...don't buy them or slowly switch over one thing at a time to a healthier version you can share. I know, I know, easier said than done. I have found that to the kids whats on my plate/bowl is always better than whats on theirs (even though it is the same).
Keep up the great work and it will payoff.
Have a great day!

RYSUDOJO Good Job on doing good during nap time!! When they go to sleep just think it is your time to do what is good for you, read, exercise, or drink water LOL that keeps me busy!! Keep it up:!!

| Hey Thanks that is a really good idea!! Why did'nt I think of that!! LOL!! Thanks alot!!

That's exactly it Mandy! I do tend to eat even more during nap time than other times of the day because I also try to bring out the stuff that's bad for you when the kids aren't around to see it. I so don't want them eating as much junk food as I eat, so I eat it during nap time and after they go to bed.
anyhow, I did good today during naptime. Hopefully, I'll do good tomorrow too.

Oh boy, did I have that problem too. I also got really tired by 5-6 just when I have to make dinner. I actually switched my work out time from morning to When my dd takes her nap in the afternoon. I have a treadmill so it was easy for me to do that since I don't go to a gym. This has helped with the bad snacking in the afternoon and I don't feel as tired.

| I agree with Chele about the pictures. In the long run it is so much cheaper and you can get the picture you want and see it before you spend anymore time or money. I love my digital camera and we really did not spend that much on it. You get the editing software and once you start taking pictures and playing with them, you will be hooked. There is all kinds of software, some free, that you can use to make your pictures fun and even make scrapbook pages.

Hello everyone!
Linda, thanks for the warm welcome! The funny thing about my twins... our first year with them was actually easier than our first year with their big sis! Big Sis was the one who was... how did you say it... not really colicky, but particular! She's the one who had us walking the floors... plus I returned to work when she was 12 weeks old. Now our twins... we were blessed with two relatively easy babies... and I didn't have to juggle it all with a full-time career this time around... so together they didn't seem nearly the challenge their big sis was all by herself! LOL! That being said, though, I really think we're in for it over the next year or two. They're starting to assert themselves more... fuss with each other more... into EVERYTHING... you see the pattern here???
I'm down a pound this morning, making it 5 lbs. in the last 3 weeks. I'm happy with that! My biggest goals here have been to give up soda and to use the food tracker. I used to drink a ton of Coke so the soda was a really biggie for me. I've been successful so far and am seeing slight changes in my waistline... great motivation there! The food tracker is a lifesaver for me! I'm finally feeling accountable and I think about every bite that goes into my mouth and whether or not I want to see it on my tracker! I'm feeling in control somewhat and that's the best motivation of all!
I hope all of you are having a wonderful day!

Good morning all! Hope you are having a wonderful day. Sabrina, your husband sounds just like mine. Sometimes I think he's so wrapped up in work that he doesn't hear or understand me, but then he opens his mouth and says something so profound and loving that I wonder if Cyrano deBergerac is hiding in our bushes! He never ceases to amaze me.
Way to go Chele! I wish I had the energy to get so much done so early. Have fun planting daisies. My mother-in-law is rooting some hydrangeas for me, and I'm hoping they'll be ready soon. I've tried buying them from Lowes, and they have died. So I'm hoping I'll have better luck with some that have proven success in the local red clay dirt.
Hope you all have a great day!
Karen

Good Wednesday morning ladies!!
Sunny and almost 60 here in NWPA
I already have all my water in and 45 minutes of Tae Bo done. I am going to try to work at tearing apart the bathroom for the next hour until lunch (we are redoing the walls and ceiling bc they are done in barn wood and it is very small dark and dirty looking). Punk got up late so we are going to go outside to plant some Shasta daisies mom dug up for me and 2 burning bushes my grandma started from hers.
I have finally managed to go down a pound on the scale after a stall of about 4 weeks. That gives me the motivation I need to exercise everyday. This weekend will be hard bc we are meeting friends at their camp to spend the weekend. Figures, it is supposed to rain all weekend!
Sabrina - Our husbands do suprise us sometimes. Isn't it wonderful? And just when we thought no one was paying any attention! Your right, there are alot of Tom, Dick, and Harry's out there doing photography, but they aren't all good at it. I feel a woman has more of an eye and attention to detail and that is what can make a picture. I talked my husband into a family portrait when our sons were 10 yrs and 7 mos. I couldn't decide on what we all should wear and didn't want to spend the $ on new outfits. The day before I decided on camoflauge. My husband is a hunter and now that my older son is 12 he is also and my now 2 1/2 yr old Punk loves to watch hunting and animals on TV. We already had camo shirts and just wore jeans. The boys had a "bear rug" and we took it as a prop. It was great and everyone comments on the "different" family portrait. It was fun. I am going to scan it later this week and upload it to my sparkpage so check it out. The only thing I would have done different was to have it taken outside but the photographer didn't have the landscaping.
Welcome to all the new moms and happy 6 mos to Halli!
I'm sorry I don't remember who but someone mentioned getting kids pictures taken at Sears or Walmart and just wanted to share this...I used to do that but always ended up with too many pictures and spending too much $$$. I have a digital camera (nothing special) and take the boys outside and take my own then go to Walmart and use their picture machine (the one hour one is cheaper) and edit and order only the exact # and size of pictures I need for everyone. Just a thought...
Have a healthy day everyone!!

I was stumbling aroung on the message boards and ran into you ladies! I read a few of the entries and you all seem so nice and supportive. My name is Amy and I am the very proud mother of a 6 month old named Halli. Actually she is 6 mos. old today!
I would like to be able to say that I gained all my weight because of pregnency. The truth is it has always been there. I have struggled with my weight most of my life. I took Prednisone (a steroid for my asthma) alot when I was a child and I gained so much weight so fast. It never went away.
Now I have motivation that I have never had before. I am 26 years old and I have time to make changes in my life before it is too late. I want to be a healthy example for my family and I don't want my daughter to deal with the things I have had too. I want to play with her and not get too tired. Mostly I just want to be around for her like my mom has been here for me.
I hope that you all do not mind if I join you in here everyday. I am online quite a bit now while Halli naps. It keeps me occupied-- I am trying to quit smoking as well! I would love the support and advice.
