| My daughter (age 4) keeps asking me why my but is so big (I just had a baby 5 weeks ago) and says when she grows up she doesn't want to be like me. It is just a bit discouraging.

| My boys are ages 16 and 8. One of the things that I have done is include my boys in all of this. I bought a 'healthy' kids cookbook that we choose recipes out of and I include my boys when I cook the recipes that they help choose. That way they see the good things that I cook with and then they are more willing to try the new things too. I think that the more that I include them in the good things that I am trying to do, the more they understand. Also, just reassure your son that even though you are getting healthier, (good job by the way), that you are still the same person inside and you will also love him.

I do not understand what a 7 y.o. would understand about weight loss? Where did he get this notion? I would reassure him I will love him no matter how much I weigh.

i've lost about 10 pounds in the last month, and my son is starting to worry about how my looking different is going to impact him. he is the first to really notice that my body is changing. he thinks our cuddles won't be as good, and he just plain likes me soft.
i've been explaining to him that he'll actually get "more mommy" since i'm getting stronger and i'll be able to do more with him, but he's yet to come around on the notion.
any thoughts on how to handle this?
