| I think my older son spends to much time with video games.It is a workout sometimes to just drag him outside.He has been gaining to much weight lately.He has learned how to swim so that he enjoys alot.This fall he will go back to kids fit and start karate.(witch at this point is enough since he has autism and gets socially overwhelmed easily. My little guy would be outside all the time if he could be.he also takes swimming,and will start kids fit this year.He has stomach problems though and lives mostly on pediasure.

| I let my kids watch as much tv as they want! They just do not have that much time. They have activities every day-soccer team, baseball team, boy scounts, 4-H club; then they have homework and chores. So in their free time they want to ride bikes and play on the trampoline and sometimes play video games(Wii or Playstation) or computer games and sometimes just veg in front of the tv. With as active as they are, I see no harm in it.

| Interesting...and very true. When I was growing up my step-father didn't allow a TV even in the house. (I am only 26 so this isn't that long ago) At the time I thought it was unfair but now I am really happy that I grew up that way. It really forced me to go outside and play with the other kids in the neighborhood.

The average American youth spends about 900 hours per year in school, and over 1,000 hours per year watching TV. While you can't place all the blame on TV, soaring rates of childhood obesity are a result of both poor nutrition and an inactive lifestyle. Limit the amount of time your kids (and yourself, leading by example) watch TV and encourage more physical activity like walking the dog, helping with yard work, playing sports, or other active hobbies.
since my son has reduced his tv viewing and playing video games he has lost 62 pounds. he has more self confidence, more energy and enjoys wearing summer clothes. he beams with pride over his accomplishments. do everyone in the family a favor. turn off the tv.
