Have you considered going to al anon yourself for some support. In case you dont know, it is for the families of alcoholics and I think also drug addicts. They are all going through or have gone through the same thing as you so they completely understand.

Drugs are nasty and very hard to kick. The only thing you can do is love as much as you can and help when you can.
The only person that can kick this is him. Like you are the only person that can kick the weight.
For you stress and loosing your mind go hand in hand right now and should be. Something that might help you a bit is the exercise. It will help you releif the stress a bit.
Vent to us all you like. You need to get it out of your system. You need to make sure that you can tell someone outside of the family what is really going on because there is no chance that it is coming back into the family. It is healthier for you to do this.
I hope you find some sort of peace in the near future with this situation for you and for your son.
Take heart that you are never alone.

I have a sister that has been addicted to meth for years. She has had 4 children by 4 different guys, stolen from family to get money for drugs, and even did a stint in jail and rehab. She was living with my parents the whole time. Finally my parents had enough. It was extremely hard for my parents but they kicked my sister out and got temporary custody of all of her children. Sometimes you just can't help or love them until they (the drug addict) want it for themselves. I don't know if you have ever seen the tv show Intervention but they suggest these types of measures-pretty much make them choose family or drugs. It took two years but my sister now has a job, a place of her own, and just recently got custody of her children back. We are all hoping that this time she stays clean but you never know.
I feel your pain because I have lived with a family impacted by drugs. My thoughts are with you.

I'm so sorry that you are having to go through all this! I don't know of anything that would help, but I would be happy to be here for you, even if it's just to vent.
You need to be strong and take care of yourself, not just for you, but for your grandchildren. They obviously need a strong role model right now! You have taken the first, and hardest step by admitting that there is a problem, and asking for help.

I everyone. I am new to the boards but not so new to Sparkspeople. I have been on and off of here for some time now intermixing with WW online too. What happens with me is I do really well for a few weeks, loose some pds, then something happens that I go off track then don't get back on. I am starting today....again, because I just put my 27 yr old son into rehab as he overdosed on the 7th. This is such a long story and not sure if everyone wants to hear it, but in a nut shell, he got hooked on street morphine, we took his kids and wife out of their home and moved them in with us as he was a putting them in danger and she wouldn't throw him out and keep him out. Then of course he lost his job, they lost their home, he lost his car, he moved in with friends, lost another job, quit another, and then became homeless. We took him in (sorta....his bedroom was out in the driveway in a truck bed camper) with a contract he had to sign with all the rules he had to follow, one being going to NA (Narcartics Anonymous) everynite. Didn't want to do this but had to try just one more time to save him. He didn't have a car so I got to do all of the driving him to dr appts or looking for jobs during the day and hubby drove him to NA meetings at night. Of course the tension in the house went up sky high as now I have wife and him in the same space. He was doing so well though, and we really thought he was on the way to recovery so we chanced it and went camping on the 4th of July weekend. He had just gotten this wonderful job paying over $11 an hr driving a forklift, 3 days of 12 hr days (fri, sat, sun) then he had 4 days off so he couldn't go. Hubby and DIL came home on sun, I stayed with the kids with friends at the campground. They came home to find him doped on pills, booze bottles in the trash and scattered all over the floor and they had to call 911 as he was OD'ing on Zanex and some major muscle relaxer. I know he took 10 Zanex in a hr time frame but we don't know how many of the muscle relaxer as he doesn't remember a thing.
Now the reason why I am writing this all down is 1- I need to, 2- maybe find someone I can talk to, and 3- instead of just telling my son he has to have the will power to stop taking drugs and drink that I should SHOW him by having the will power to loose this weight!!!!!
I have been the fat kid since I have been about 10, it has never really gone away. I have come close a few times, but no brass ring. Now I am almost 50, have had major lower back surgery, have dear Artie in both knees and have no will power, and weigh in at 264. I have lost 10 lbs when I first started this almost 2 yrs ago and haven't gained it back, but what do I do? It doesn't help I am a stress eater either and boy, let me tell you there is stress in this household.
Now that I have wrote the great american novel here I will stop. Thanks for letting me bend your ear.
