| I try to keep the television off most nights, but by Friday, I'm too tired from working all week and trying to keep everything together. Friday night is "cheat night". We get delivery and watch TV.

| I have four siblings and my entire family ate together every night until we all got into high school, and even then my mom would cook for whoever was home. When my mom called us to the table, the tv went off and we all sat together until everyone was finished. I lvoed our family dinners. My fiance's family I don't think ever ate together, and even if they were in the same room, they were all watching tv. When I moved in with my finace and his son, I started family dinner time. I told them if I was cooking for them, they were going to sit and talk to me while they ate. At first they both complained about having no tv but now my finace admimts that he really likes having time to talk about our days at work and school. I think it's definately really important. Most of the time we eat breakfast together, too.

| we too do this. Infact, we all eat ALL meals together - the only exception is when dad is at work (he'll miss breakfast and lunch those days - he eats both at the office). Since I homeschool, the children are always home and we've made it a point that we all eat together - and NO tv - there isn't even a tv in site of the kitchen!! :)

| We have always done this at my house also. With five children ranging from 15 to 2 this can be a task all in itself. We generally eat at the same time so all the kids know what time dinner is and they know that we expected them be in attendance. However as they are getting older they tend to cram there food down and want to be excused. Some nights we make them sit until everyone is finished. Also if one of the teens proclaims they are not hungry, they are expected to at least come by part of the family during dinner time.

| we always sit down together and eat meals together with the TELEVISION OFF. that is our family time to communicate. that is when as a parent you find out what's going on in your children's lives. you bond as a family unit. you reassure your children if needed as to the stresses in their lives.
